Spiritual College Set Amid A Beautiful Landscape SITREP I have a lifelong association with this thoughtful institution. THE SETUP Growing up a Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA), I've enjoyed my countless associations with this SDA denominational institution: (1) I've worshipped in it's church and chapel (2) I've shopped at it's food store (3) My godparents were professors here (4) I graduated from it's sister-institution, Walla Walla University (5) I've hiked considerably in and around PUC's wilderness properties (6) I've attended Forum discussions in several of it's classrooms; (7) I've had a campus police officer pull me over to tell me to slow down; (8) I've attended weddings and wakes here THINGS I WISH COULD CHANGE Whether it's planned or not, one of the desires of this institution's founding fathers & mothers was to - as much as possible - keep it's pristine nature & character, being a bit remote from the sinful world about it. [And when you think that this educational institution was founded more than 100 years ago, you can appreciate how back in that day, it truly was remote.] However, tied into this "remoteness" - and being a creature of the 21st Century - I just wish there was better cell phone coverage up in that neck of the woods. I love PUC. My brother, my mom and I all graduated from here. The location, although quite remote, does offer some wonderful perks, such as a micro climate atmosphere, gorgeous scenery, and seriously fresh air. The majority of the teachers are better than good, and really truly care about their students, which is something I really can't say about many places I know of. They are redecorating and redesigning halls slowly, including the gorgeous new caf, and the library. The negatives are that it takes forever if you need to go anywhere besides angwin, everything closes for the sabbath, and the segregated dorms are silly.... read more

I hope they have grown a lot since I've been there because my memory of this place was quite disappointing and a waste of my parent's money. My friends and I were highly disappointed about the campus life they offered (or lack of). During our tour before becoming students, they promised so many clubs that we looked forward to; however, when we started our year, most of those advertised clubs they offered were no longer available. During my year there, they fired a lot of highly competent and caring professors, leaving the professors who were not as caring and professional. The on campus medical staff was highly inappropriate to my friend who went to them for help. They did not conduct appropriate bed side manner and invalidated the pain she was going through because "the school has nutritious foods and they do wash their lettuce and veggies" (no they didn't. Many people witnessed the cooking staff dumping unwashed salads into trays and giving it out for us to eat. Many people we knew also got sick from this negligence. I myself got dysentery). The education here was definitely out of the ordinary. It is required for the student to take a Christian class for a semester. We had to go on a hike (I love hikes) so I was super excited to go. My professor pressured us students to hug trees?? When I vocalized that I didn't want to because it made me uncomfortable to hug a tree for FIVE MINUTES STRAIGHT, I was threatened that my grade would suffer for not hugging a tree??! The tutoring system they have here was also below helpful. The people this school hires to help other students didn't care. One just handed me and my fellow biology classmates her "notes and study guide" from when she took the class and proceeded to look at videos and social media on her phone. When asking about a concept, we were ignored or brushed off with a "it's in the notes I gave you". Although the campus is a BEAUTIFUL place, I was saddened to see how far down this place has gone in comparison of my parents' high praise of the school when they were attending it. read more

They rent out the church for weddings! So, this is a nice quite religious school in the forest of Northern California. Amazing scenery and venue for a wedding. My cousin was getting married and chose this location for the ceremony, and the reception afterwards. Pros Church is really awesome. Church Staff do an amazing job assisting. Reception hall is the next building over. Pretty forestry area Cons Bit of a drive away from civilizations Roads are a bit twisty to get there. Overall Great venue for a wedding, and given that it is so remote and probably a hidden gem (given that my pictures were the first with few reviews), I bet it is a great deal and best bang for the buck. read more

It's been years since I've attended here and I'm revisiting again for my girlfriends nursing graduation. when I attended over 11 years ago i dreaded the isolation away from "civilization". But what I did enjoy was the friendships i made and my chance to be able to focus on school to actually finish "on time". Its a very beautiful campus and began appreciated it more only after I was done. I was able find more balance in life between school, spiritual fulfillment, healthy eating, and exercise. The teachers were helpful in reaching your goals. It's a retreat away from the fast paced chaotic city and located in a relatively low-crime community. After revisiting, I can say it was a experience i'll never forget with many friends I made and the unforgettable memories. read more

Found the finance dept to be rude and the academics dept to be disorganized. Small campus so word travels fast regardless of it being good bad personal or sensitive information.Student body isn't diverse, acclimation was difficult as a person of color. read more
