The last place I went to, years ago, nearer my home in Westminster, featured an aging German couple who started out lacking any sense of customer service, and degenerated into outright hostility when it came down to working with insurance. So, having no clue where to start ... I walked into an "optician" shop not too far from downtown Frederick - and they only did glasses, but said they'd made plenty of referrals and got back plenty of raves for the eye exam by Dr. John. Sure enough, Dr. John not only gave me the exam, he gave full explanation of everything he was doing, including checks for health issues not directly related to vision (did you know they can spot early indications of diabetes, MS, kidney issues, and more from an eye exam??). Dr. John also answered lots of questions and worked through various scenarios on how I'd actually use the glasses (e.g. computer screen, skiing, whatever), to come up with a good solution. Plus it's no fuss - the exam fee includes all my follow up visits while I'm trying out some contacts. Recommended.

Here we are just over a month later and i cannot wear the new glasses for anything. When i try i get terrible headaches and cannot even use for my computer work. Listening to patients, getting prescription for trials after an exam, not insisting on getting…read morecontacts insurance will not cover. Dr. Blake is great but the Dr. Pattaris is where it all went downhill. I have been a patient there for over four years with no issues. I lost it when she refused to answer me asking " how did my prescription change to both eyes being the same to now both eyes being different and less powers in the contacts even though we are trying different contacts the prescription should still be the same correct? When she started getting flustered and saying that she's never had a patient like me and I lost my cool and told her to go F herself. I've never been treated so rude by a Doctor Who has a one lane highway and doesn't listen to their patients and then goes upfront and still argues with me ...asking me to take the trial contacts out of my eyes after I threw away my other ones! So basically she wanted me to drive home without vision to prove a point. Then she goes upfront after I say that I don't like her and she's got a bad attitude. She's still standing there arguing with me and mocking me and then she asked her staff if she's a bad person and of course her staff's gonna say no because they work there. She's an ass. I don't know why she left West Virginia and her business closed down there, whether it be that she decided to move here or something else, but her reviews are not great there either. I feel bad for the rest of the staff because I really like David who really assisted me and Dr. Blake. The rest of them can kick rocks for the way they responded upfront.
