When Sam's condition worsened and my former vet refused to see him, I desperately called East Meadow Veterinary Clinic for an appointment. Much to my surprise and delight Dr. Olcha agreed to see us the very same day! Sam's cardiac condition was quickly diagnosed and he's on a few new meds now that have helped him tremendously. He's eating well and taking walks now. Yay! Let's not forget the wonderful Latynese at the front desk who graciously helped me with appointments, meds etc. She's fantastic! Now I can look forward to spending New Years Eve with Sam on the sofa drinking bubbly (Sam will have water, natch:) - all due to the skill, compassion and diagnostic skills of Dr. Olcha and East Meadow Veterinary Clinic. The Clinic's fees are reasonable and they allow customers to refill meds online at a discount (something my former vet didn't do). Nice clean office, plenty of parking out front, compassionate care at reasonable cost. Highly recommend East Meadow Veterinary Clinic to all pets and their pawrents!

Our dog started to show signs of anxiety. We called the vet to get some advice on how to handle. We did classes, at home training, and medication. In the beginning, medication was working well and simple. We followed any orders given to us and asked what more we could do. Over the past year, this place has become a stress inducing mess. His medication refills were not filled properly, they became rude to us and my dog. Whenever we required a refill, there was always push back. They would claim we'd run out quickly and "something seemed off" according to his medical records. I stated how the medication is not filled correctly and we'd never had a problem until recently. This place would make it seem that I was either over medicating my dog or we were using it ourselves. Each visit made it seem like we were doing something wrong. We came up with the solution of prefilled syringes. This was great the first time around until THE VET decided to not continue this. Then we had a problem again and more push back. The communication sucked. We would be told his meds would be done one day, we'd arrive ready to pick them up, and would hear that they never actually put in the meds. Of course that part is not in his medical records. Most of his medical records are them covering their own mistakes up. We decided to go elsewhere and were met with nasty staff, medical records with rude comments and saying we "seemed off". I am truly disgusted with this place and would NEVER recommend it. Whatever advice and tips they gave us, we took. Whatever orders and requests they gave, we did. I'm not sure what happened to this place. We took the meds THEY suggested, administered as they told us, and had issue after issue. This place cares more about money and people they like. My dog is well taken care of and always is up to date on any medical needs. I am so disappointed in this place and hope they either change or shut down.

This place was different. They realized my dog is older and I wanted minimal test and treatments. They clarified some past misdiagnosis, and really helped me with a minimal treatment plan that worked best for me and my dog. They took such good care of me and my senior doggy!

Unfortunately the care and service at VCA East Meadow has gone waaay downhill. A previous review…read morecalling them heartless, apathetic and incompetent says it all. My senior dog Sam was losing weight and coughing. Sam was misdiagnosed and subjected to numerous pricey tests (and re-tests) over months at VCA; all tests were "inconclusive" so no treatment was initiated. At VCA one must call for test results during the two hours 9:00 to 11:00 AM ONLY. Even though I stuck to those two hours the vet was NEVER available to get on the phone, nor were any of my calls returned in a timely manner, so vital treatment was further delayed. Finally I was told that Sam "may" have a kidney issue. When I asked for a treatment plan the vet simply said to feed him senior dog food, when I asked what kind he replied "any kind is fine after all he's a senior dog." Totally unprofessional and useless reply! The last straw was when Sam began limping and coughing badly a few days ago. I was worried so called VCA, only to be rudely told that there was no vet available to see him. I offered to wait by the phone and come in anytime that day or the next day, but no dice. Zero concern over a long term customer and her frail dog! Actually it turned out to be fortunate that VCA refused to see us b/c I quickly took Sam to another local vet (separate review) who DID give me a same day appointment. The new vet took X-rays and diagnosed Sam's cough and lethargy as mitral valve heart disease - NOT a kidney issue - that could have been fatal very soon. This heart issue should have been caught during the NUMEROUS exams conductrd by VCA staff but wasn't. Thankfully our new vet is very professional and gave us Sam's test results immediately - yay! - then dispensed proper meds. to lessen his symptoms and prolong his precious life. Sam is doing much better now - no thanks to VCA.

I'm glad I had this happen here and not by myself at home. The office staff was also very helpful and friendly through this sad event. My husband inherited this cockatoo from his grandparents, so we actually didn't have a vet visit at all until the bird had health issues.
