I was here for just a short visit with my aging cockatoo bird in the fall. My bird actually passed away due to old age issues etc right at the beginning of the visit as it was going to happen anyway... Dr Monaco was so calming during this unfortunate event. I'm glad I had this happen here and not by myself at home. The office staff was also very helpful and friendly through this sad event. My husband inherited this cockatoo from his grandparents, so we actually didn't have a vet visit at all until the bird had health issues. Dr. Monaco, his son, and all the techs and staff are by far the best veterinary team I have seen in my 70 years. Totally caring, knowledgeable, gentle, and personable. Most veterinarians these days are just like taxi cab meters...just blinging in the cash, no personalities, unconcerned or "fake concerned", overcharging for everything and requiring so many unnecessary tests, making me wonder why, other than making us "cash cows" for their benefit, how they could consider themselves animal lovers at all...I used to rescue animals for most of my life, so I am pretty alert to critters' needs and symptoms. Because of my age, I do not take on any new critters because I fear they will outlive me, since I have many health issues myself, and they might not find new, loving homes like they have with me. I found Dr. Monaco by chance when my big, feisty Red Slider turtle developed a bronchial infection, and I haven't needed any "small pet" medical help for a number of years, taking care of all their needs myself, so they pretty much stay healthy and don't require too much medical care. As soon as I saw my turtle needed medical attention, I started calling around and could not find anyone who handled "small pets". For some reason, when I saw Dr. Monaco's review somewhere, I called and he allowed me to bring her in right away, which I was so thankful for because he has a very busy practice and gives such loving attention to all his "patients". Not wanting to take up too much of his time and kindness on an emergency visit, it was fortunate that we both identified the bronchial infection's existence, and he lovingly "tuned her up a bit" (despite her bad manners), gave her a shot, and prescribed the necessary medicine for me to bring home for her. She had a very total and rapid recovery, and I found my new veterinarian. A few months later, she had another bronchial episode, and he refilled her medicine and she has been fine ever since. It is so important to be able to find and have a really caring veterinarian, which is so hard to find these days and I am so thankful to have found him...Dr. Monaco and his staff are truly a gift from God to me and the animal world!!! Dr. Monaco saved our cat by recommending cryosurgery for an oral tumor. If anyone wants info about this, call me 516 473-3798. It saved the cat's life (now 2 years later), was way less painful, and so much less expensive. He also saved our ball python when it broke one of its jaw bones (super rare). There are some less than great veterinarians in the area. I've been to several. There's the guy that killed my dog, the vet that was super dirty and had rude receptionists and caused me to have an allergic reaction every time I walked in and then there's OCAC. And those are the ones that get decent ratings, so I can't imagine how bad the others are. This place, however, is fantastic. The receptionists and doctors are all pleasant and knowledgeable. I've only had good experiences here and this is the only vet I'd recommend in the area. Their prices are reasonable as well; not cheap, but not crazy either. read more

I am forever grateful to Dr. Monaco and his empathetic staff. I brought in my 21 year old red eared slider as she wasn't eating. Dr. Monaco did whatever tests were necessary but agreed with me when I said that I was considering putting her down after discussing the results, rather than pushing additional unnecessary tests and procedures on her. He didn't charge me for an additional Xray he needed as I had paid for one at another exotic vet on one of his days off. I didn't even ask him to do this! He is compassionate and a terrific vet. Turtie was in the best of hands, it was just her time to go. When they gave me her body to bury , I found inside the box a sympathy note and a little bunch of flowers. This practice is amazing. Had a great, albeit quick, experience here, and I'm so thankful for Dr. Monaco and his team. I'm always weary of bringing our little caique anywhere after a string of unpleasant experiences - there was the groomer who cut her tongue during a beak trim, the vet who treated her like a money pit, shaming me into spending hundreds of dollars on unneeded blood tests and exams. Not to mention reading too many horror stories of birds freaking out because of poor treatment. So when our sweet Kimi needed a simple health certificate, I thought another unnecessary, stressful experience would be inevitable, and I kept putting it off until I just couldn't anymore. Did my research for trustworthy avian specialists in the neighborhood and found this place. Dr. Monaco is a gem of a vet who checks all the boxes. The office had a different vibe than most groomers or vets - very calm and welcoming, and they put me at ease with their hospitality. Dr. Monaco let me sit in the room as he examined her. He was attentive, straightforward, gentle, and thorough. He and his assistant never forced Kimi into additional exams. My dog has been loving coming here for two years now. I've had him vaccinated, checked up, boarded several times, and neutered here and have always had a great experience. I also buy his heartworm and flea preventative meds here. Dr. Monaco and Dr. Eisbruck are both great and friendly. The rest of the staff is also great and they always remember my little Elvis. My dog is scared of pretty much everything but wags his tail to see everyone here and whines when the door in the waiting area is closed because he wants to get to the other side ASAP! read more

I truly believe this clinic is only concerned with getting paid. My poor dog's condition was drawn out so that the vet could keep getting $$$ from us. Took my dog here because she had bad allergies and scratched until her skin was raw. We saw the woman vet. She recommended two different pills, and spray. We then made two follow up appointments. My dog's health progressed, but only minimally and slowly. All appointments cost well over $500. A month later we saw a new vet because her condition was worse. The new vet gave her a prescription and a shot. Within ONE WEEK my dog was perfectly fine. All it took was a shot and a pill. Shame on that vet and this clinic read more

There isn't enough thank you's in the world I can give to Dr. Monaco and his staff. He treated my bunny Belle for a really bad tail injury and not once did I doubt what he did and how he treated her. After the initial injury, she brutalized it and needed to go to an emergency vet while Dr. Monaco was away. I called Dr. Monaco after that visit with a recommendation from the emergency vet to amputate her tail. Dr. Monaco and his amazing staff did everything they could and then some. He came up with creative ways to wrap it and keep her from getting at it. He didn't give up and he saved her tail and it's better and fluffier then ever. I have never seen anybody go through the lengths that he did for her. His staff was accommodating to my schedule and the situation, Dr. Monaco and the staff all treated her as if she was their own. I highly recommend Dr. Monaco to any animal owner! When looking to take my bird for her first yearly check up, I did a ton of research, and this clinic had nothing but great reviews. I was nervous for her first appointment as she can be tricky, but Dr. Monaco and his crew immediately made me feel comfortable. They were great with my bird and the check up was very thorough. Today marks the one year anniversary of the day my beloved parrot was killed at the hands of Dr. Robert Monaco. He injected my parrot with a fatal dose of Adequan, a drug used to treat horses, and he died in my arms in excruciating pain. Amazing vet. Dr. Monaco is extremely nice and you can tell, he really does love what he does and his patients. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel comfortable. They also know how to actually book appointments. I didn't wait for my 10:00 appointment. I got there a little early but my appointment was on time. I took my water turtle Nico there for a check up and a concern for his skin. He was so knowledgeable and I felt so comfortable asking a million questions even if they were common sense questions. Dr.Monaco and his vet staff were so compassionate and helpful with my 8 year old leopard gecko! They were so gentle with her and made sure to give her all the necessary treatment. I'm so happy to have brought her to this facility. They made sure to give me all the information i needed for her condition and also asked me lots of questions about her. I brought my dog to this office for the first time . All they are interested In is getting paid . The receptionist was so unprofessional . They never help rectify my dogs issue . When I went back two Weeks later the vet didn't even know the dogs name or age or even the diagnosis. After the visit I realize that he's good with reptiles not dogs. Instead of helping my pet they had nerve to say he was obese . What a joke and a waist of money . All they did was push vaccines on my dog after I told them I don't like to use them. A good vet would never do that . My dog Is 9 years of age and I've done research that vaccines are unnecessary. They don 't care about the animal just the pocket. Never again . They couldn't even fix my dogs problem - simple anal Glands . They gave my dog an antibiotic that didn't even work- $175. They should be reported. They couldn't of rushed us out of the office any soon after I declined another shot he pushed on me. I have since switched over to a companionate vet . He's amazing !!! read more
