I asked about changing my name on my registration, as my legal name changed due to marriage. The clerk cut me off and said because the car is financed there is "nothing they can do about the name on your registration" - hard to believe since I was at the Department of Motor Vehicles... anyway, she told me I needed to contact the bank. I told her I had already done that, and the name on my loan was changed. She doubled down said she couldn't help me. I asked about discrepancies with the name down the line and she literally told me "I have no idea about that" ma'am it is your job to know! Even if it IS the loan providers responsibility to update vehicle registration (which I don't believe is correct), some good customer service or basic interpersonal communication would have been appreciated. "Call the bank." Over and over is unhelpful. Don't come here if you have questions, need to be helped, or would like a service provided ‍

Every time I go to apply for new plates, the requirements seem to change without notice, and the staff is consistently unhelpful and unwilling to assist. On one occasion, an employee told me in a very unprofessional tone: "Next time, make sure you know what you're coming for, because you took a number for plate renewal, not for new plates." Instead of offering guidance, it felt like they were just looking for a reason to turn me away. Another time, I brought all the paperwork they had asked for previously, only to be told I needed an additional document that isn't even listed in their official requirements. This lack of consistency only delays the process and wastes time and money. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident, but rather a recurring pattern of poor service and disorganization. I sincerely hope they improve their customer service and offer clearer, more respectful assistance to people like me who are working hard and following the rules.
