After a quick visit to a business close by, we were told that indeed we were at the correct place, the Hawaii Business Center building. Attaching two photos that may help other customers. The office is on the second story. Our 2 appointments were spaced at 15 minute intervals, but we were out of there in less than 30 minutes. The agent was very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Parking worked out very well, there is a lot to the right of the building, and there was no meter charge.

This is a beautiful historic building that's still a functioning post office. It's iconic, it's…read morebeen in many television shows and movies so it might strike you as familiar when you visit. I do recommend a visit, it's also the Federal Building. It was designed by architect Henry Whitfield (Dale Carnegie's brother in law) in 1915 near the very beginning of U.S. postal service on the islands. Maybe the USPS is one positive in an ocean of colonial oppression. It was one of the first reinforced concrete buildings on this island (local architecture used less permanent materials)/ The grounds are lovely using lava rock for walls and local plants for decoration. The tall palms were planted by the American Legion after WWI to honor Hawai'ian citizens who perished in that war. I got stamps here to put on postcards, but I'll bet hardly anyone reading this knows what that means.

Terrible service. They do not have priority mail empty boxes available for use. You have to wait 30…read moreminutes in line to get a box so you can package your things then wait in line all over again. I tried to let them know they're out of boxes and asked fir one and very nasty lady me. Ext time I want an empty box I need to wait in line. Like I was trying to jump the line for something that should have already been available to their customers. No wonder the USPS is failing. No wonder at all.

They administer TB tests, do fingerprinting, and all sorts of other things. The building and grounds are maintained very nicely, despite things being a bit dated. That's just kind of what you get with most government agencies around here. Naturally, their parking lot is all metered. That's sort of annoying if you don't really carry around spare change. I'd truly be boned if I didn't have a huge cupholder full of change from going through fast food drive-thrus. All in all, it's a very boring building and if you ever have to be there, it's probably not going to be the highlight of your day, but it is what it is. And for what it is, the place is just fine. I know, a glowing review haha. It's a boring government building, cut me some slack!

The workers are proactive and courteous as well keeping the facility looking professional. New paved road and nice convenient recyclable area is friendly to all vehicles. I LOVE this Army Training Area!! As a disclaimer, I will say I'm an Army Chaplain so I try to have…read morea positive attitude most the time. Most The places we have to train for the Army are extremely hot. Yes it's windy and cold and uncomfortable at times up here but it's also breathtakingly beautiful. I flew in on a Chinook, Cadillac of the skies, and the views were amazing. I'm hoping to take my soldiers to the observatory or Volcano national Park after we're done training. We're also doing some improvement projects with the locals. I feel blessed the Hawaiians allow us to train here. The Polynesian history here is thousands of years old. We have to be very careful not to disturb any historical landmarks. There is a small shoppette with limited hours, Dominos pizza, two food trucks, and a super gym that's open 24 hours. What more do you need?! I of course enjoy the old military Chapel that's the only one I know of built in a Kwanzaa hut. The Civilian contractors working on base are knowledgeable & friendly. If Servicemembers training here complain too much, I instruct them to spend a month at NTC or Fort Polk and they might have other opinions. They are currently finishing to multimillion dollar projects updating the infrastructure here. Training here should only get better. Off to the Ranges! Have a Hooah Army Day!

You will be in love with what you see. I am still in awe over the experience!! The sky was absolutely beautiful with all the stars and seeing the Milky Way. Just wow!! Helps to put into perspective just how amazing God is with his creation! My only regret is I wish I had a better camera to have taken better pictures to remember what we saw and share with others. Gets really cold so bring your jacket!!

After experiencing the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens (please reference my review if…read moreinterested), we made the 18 minute drive to Lyman Museum. I must admit, when Google Maps announced our arrival, I was skeptical of the museum based on the appearance of the building. However, that feeling dissipated when we entered the building and were greeted by a friendly employee at the front counter. After paying the very small admission fee, another friendly employee gave us a brief overview of how to navigate the exhibits. The first exhibit was centered on one of my favorite childhood interests...volcanoes! I was taking a walk down memory lane as I relearned the root cause of volcanic eruptions and the history of Hawaii's active volcanoes. Afterwards, we learned about the various habitat types, mammals, and birds. The next following exhibits were focused on Hawaii's complicated (in my opinion) history. Although all of the content was interesting to some capacity; the following three topics stood out: sugar plantations, the educational system, and the annexation of Hawaii by the United States. Although the information is presented in an unbiased form, it shaped my opinion of how native Hawaiians (along with other ethnic groups) were mistreated, the United States' role in attempting to completely sanitize the Hawaiian education system (i.e., being punished for speaking their native language in school), and the events that led to the Hawaiian government being overthrown by the United States. As most museums, I walked away with mixed feelings. I learned a lot about Hawaiian culture, but also felt torn in my decision to visit (support) a place that has been essentially cleansed of its true culture and taken over by Americans (yes I know that there are other places that have been similarly impacted). I highly recommend that visitors take the time out of their vacation to visit this museum and enlighten themselves with Hawaiian history.

I understand libraries are known as 'quiet' places. But these should also be safe places for children. This is a free place for children to come for parents and families who may be low income and deserve to have access to resources such as these. I'm DISGUSTED at the level of disrespect and abuse that has been directed towards parents in this space by Gretchen. It is abuse to talk to anyone in the manner in which she has and is completely unacceptable and inappropriate. Especially in the presence of children... I was astonished to hear that so many people have similar experiences and that is absolutely unacceptable. We want to share the Aloha experience with everyone and want to make everyone feel comfortable and SAFE bringing their children to a PUBLIC LIBRARY. This situation is sick and needs to be addressed.
