However, one incident stands out in particular: Our Black Lab/Mutt Toto, the Last Dog on the Mountain, here, had grown very infirm and her time, sadly, had come. Dr. Lance ACTUALLY MADE A HOUSE CALL and put her down in the living room, right on the rug. It was a moving and downright spiritual experience, expertly done, and brought out the closeness Family and Animal have had for millenia. He had to spend a couple of days in an oxygen tent until the fluid drained so he could be transferred to Medvet Worthington to be seen by a cardiologist. We had never left him overnight anywhere before and the team at Pickerington let us spend time with him while he was in the oxygen chamber. That did a lot for his comfort level and helped lessen his anxiety (and ours). They kept us updated on his progress and we felt very comfortable with the care he was being given. His stay there overlapped several shifts and the quality of his care was consistently great! I will add that we were able to visit him 24/7. The facilities were modern and clean. We called in a panic requesting help and they told us to come right in. On the way, we blew out a hose on the truck.
