A room I was finally able to see my dog in
    Sarah H.

Took my dog in because she ingested chocolate. They came and took her back to get her vitals, 45 minutes later the vet came out and told me that they would need to keep her over night. No exam,no exam tomorrow, just came out to the waiting room to tell me my dog had a heart rate that was life threatening and she needed to stay. I told her I would like to see my dog, she informed me that there no rooms available for that. After another 30 minutes later a tech came out with an estimate. I asked some more questions about them keeping her the tech told me I would need to talk to the vet again, another 25 minutes later, the vet came out. She was clearly annoyed, sat down and stared at me, didn't ask what I needed did say "I heard you had questions" just glared. I asked my questions she answered them clipped and clearly agitated. I told her I was uncomfortable leaving my dog but if that was best for my dog I would, but I wasn't leaving until I saw her. We arrived at medvet at 7:15, at 9:30 I was finally able to see my dog again. After I had been told my estimate and diagnosis, one that was procured with zero testing, in a room full of strangers. I had spent a total of less than five minutes with a real person and they wanted me to sign an estimate for 2600.00. After 20 minutes in a room with my dog, they came back I signed the agreement and the tech agreed that she probably didn't need to stay. Never saw the vet again, but after another two hours they agreed to treat her and let her go home. For an issue they insisted was life threatening they too. Their time making me feel pressured into giving them thousands of dollars but doing very little for my dog. I cannot express enough DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! They want your money, there is no empathy, the front desk is cold impersonal, the vet is hard and takes zero time with people. As long as this review is I could go on for another 500 words of the things they screwed up, letting me sit in a room alone for a tech to come retrieve my dog that hadn't even been brought to me, a second tech coming in to ask me what how they were treating her, the front desk acting like I was bothering them when I check out. DO NOT GO HERE.

They are so nice and it is so quick and is so clean so your dogs don't get sick again.

I had to put my best friend to sleep yesterday but I was not expecting that at all when I arrived there. I went there to have his eyes checked and perhaps get some eye drops. When the doc came in to tell me the condition of my dogs spleen and how I'll he was I was at a loss for words. This doc was very professional but kind and spoke to me with great remorse in his voice. The staff were kind and sweet to me and helped me through a horrible life changing ordeal. I will never forget the kindness. Thank you very much .

Couldn't ask for better staff to care for your fur babies in an emergency. They've always went above and beyond.

Took good care of my dog. Even though we had to put him down they were very respectful of our feelings and wishes.

Our black lab (Ollie), took some kitchen scissors out of the sink and chewed the handles while we were sleeping. We found the chewed scissors with no pieces of the handle to be found. We assumed he ingested them and decided to be safe and take him to an emergency vet. First, we took him to a closer, well known emergency vet in Hilliard. After an hour wait, we discovered they were not equipped to help. Seems like any emergency vet should be able to handle an accidental ingestion, but they couldn't and what they could do was at least another 90 minute wait. I should add that I understand that Ollie was not in immediate danger (yet) and his appearance and behavior were good enough to tolerate a long wait - but I just didn't like how unprepared they seemed for what I think should be a relatively routine incident. We left and intended to go to their larger location, but it was such a poor experience I wanted to find an alternative. We found the Dublin VEG and it was relatively close. I called ahead and talked to a pleasant staff member who gave me an idea of the types of things we would likely need and she indicated they could handle this sort of issue. We arrived received immediate attention. They quickly x-rayed the scissors to see if the handle material would show up clearly enough to make it effective and when it confirmed, they quickly got Ollie in and x-rayed. They were able to rule out any large pieces and it felt safe to proceed with induced vomiting. Several minutes later, the bits and pieces of the handles were out of Ollie, giving us a sigh of relief. I wish I could remember names, but the staff were all amazing. The care plan options were immediate - even in a somewhat tricky scenario given the material. The caring and demeanor of all of the staff put us at ease right away and we knew we made the right decision to come here. The open layout was immediately comforting to both us and our dog. I had noticed the comment on the website that said that this would be a different sort of experience, but I didn't really think about it. After experiencing this place, I don't think I could go back to the old way of being separated while your pet is taken into some back room. If I could give them ten stars, I would. I hope we don't need an emergency vet again, but if we do, we won't go anywhere else.

I am taking away one star because, in a panic, I asked Siri for directions and it pulled up the address of the old clinic on Fulton. Not knowing that they had moved since I (luckily) have never had to go before, we drove out of our way to the wrong clinic. Suggestion: Close this listing on ALL online registries. When we finally arrived to the correct clinic, the receptionist asked if we wanted them to administer CPR.....OF COURSE WE DID - why do you think we were there? The vet tech let us know that he did not survive the trauma. She offered a copy of his paw print inked onto a poem. They wrapped him in an insulated blanket that would ensure his fluids did not leak, and then in an additional sheet. She was very kind and very personable. She's the reason I am giving four stars today. Hopefully I never have to return, but in an emergency situation I am glad they are close by.

Several EMERGENCY vets near me were closing within a few minutes leaving my only option being Stark County Veterinary EMERGENCY in Canton. I called ahead told the lady on the phone my dog's symptoms. She responded with a diagnosis of some sort of leg complication or disease. Ha? Made no sense to me. She asked me if he was UTD on his shots. I said yes and all of my pups were scheduled for their yearly check-up this Tuesday, June 23, 2026. She immediately stated, 'Ok, when you bring him in, it's $120 for the office visit and the Dr. will want to do x-rays and those 'start' at $650 and they'll want to do several.' Ok. I appreciate the honesty and heads-up but how do 'you' know what's going to be required??? I didn't say anything. She spoke again 'We expect payment in full upon the first visit. Cash or credit. We don't accept any payment plans.' I get that. I responded I'll be bringing him in. She said 'ok'. I drove the 50 min to the clinic. I pulled into a parking spot yet curious as to why the spots were numbered. Understand that UNLESS you back your vehicle into a spot you will not see signage on the building. I approach the door. It's locked. Understandable. The sign says to ring the bell. I did. The receptionist answered and said can I help you? I said yes, I just called about my Morkie and he needs medical attention. She says 'Did you call the number on the sign upon your arrival?' I said what number? She told me to back up into the parking lot and to call the number on the building and she would talk to me from my phone and not the intercom....??? So, holding my dog, I did as she asked and no answer. I went back to the intercom and told her there was no answer. She said I had to have dialed an incorrect number. I pushed my phone up against the glass and the number was correct showing it had been ringing for 1 min and 29 sec. She said 'ma'am, you need to get back into your vehicle and call me from there. I did as she said but very shaken as I was worried about my dog and their concern was ONLY I needed to retreat back to my vehicle. So, I did. I called the number again. This person then asked me about my dogs vaccinations. Has he had 2 or 3? Has he been tested for PARVO? I reiterated AGAIN, he is UTD on all his vaccines and provided her with Richardson's Animal Hospital info. This initial back and forth went on for about 15 min. She said since I couldn't provide proof of his shots and PARVO test results, they would send a tech out to my vehicle and perform the bloodwork and after the results if negative, I could bring him in. I'm leaving out a lot of the nonsense back and forth. I think she was rude. It was at the point where I said that I have driven nearly an hour for them to see my distressed pup and greeted with a borage of all these tests and procedures, that may prove unnecessary, BEFORE I walk thru their door, and her response as she scoffed. 'Ma'am, this is protocol and we have people drive for hours to get here and we have declined them service.' After I agreed to the pre-admission testing, I sat there for a few minutes, started my car and left. It was after having a very lengthy time, waiting in my car, I looked at Stark County Veterinary Emergency Google and BBB reviews, I was confident in my decision based on 2 star rating and multiple similar instances. I decided my best bet was to reach out to Dr. Tim (Richardso's Animal Hospital) first thing in the morning. Update: Morkie is back to normal and I sincerely believe that his grooming day prior and anal gland expression was the issue. He was experiencing some discomfort (normal) and was perfectly fine by the time we got home and back to his normal ornery self this morning. I should have calculated the 2 star review rating against the 54 reviews submitted and driven him further to a more reputable clinic. In the end, all is good.
