I've been a tenant at this community for about 6 months. In the process of moving here I had to park in a visitor spot until my roomate made room in the garage, and they refused to give me a spot for my car and ended up towing me for parking there for 2 hours. They've been sending letters and complaining that my boyfriend comes over too much, and accused him of living here because i invited him for dinner when he gets off work sometimes. He's not a tenant and I have a roomate, so he parks in the visitor spot. I sent a letter and explained this to them. And they towed his car for parking in the visitor spot after I explained he wasn't a resident. I didn't know there was a limit on how much someone can visit you here. Living here has felt like a prison. Don't live here because they won't let your loved ones see you at all. If I could give this 0 stars I would. read more

Worst HOA I have ever lived in. Rules only apply to certain people, but not to others. They never respond to complaints but instead send letters complaining to homeowners about the littlest things like a holiday flag. However vendors and house flippers can come in and out at all hours of the night jackhammering floors and waking up little children. Absolutely nothing is done about this, because they will pay a fine (maybe). These groups are allowed to diminish the life of actual residents who have had zero issues with their real neighbors and have lived here for 7 years. Maybe do your job and address vendors being let in at 5:30am when they should not be, or have courtesy patrol check to make sure these groups have left after hours especially if you have already received several complaints about a specific house. I lived in Painted Desert for a brief, but sufficient time, and while it has some undeniable charms, I ultimately felt it fell short in several key areas, particularly safety & community atmosphere. High Fees & Questionable Security: Monthly HOA fees in Painted Desert are a hefty $400/mo, a price point that may raise eyebrows for potential residents. This expense is marketed towards amenities like gated entry and roving security patrols. However, during my time there, the reality often diverged from the advertised picture. Despite contacting the security company three times for assistance, I never received physical response. These experiences, coupled with witnessing incidents like transients harassing residents and a security breach involving someone jumping the wall, left me feeling less secure than the high fees would suggest. Unwelcoming Neighbors: Beyond the security concerns, I unfortunately encountered an atmosphere of suspicion and unease among some neighbors. On multiple occasions, I noticed residents watching me from inside their homes and even taking pictures of me while I was outside my own residence. These incidents were reported to the HOA manager for alleged rule violations, even though I wasn't aware of such rules upon moving in. This reliance on resident-driven rule enforcement, without proactive efforts from the HOA itself, created a tense and distrustful environment. The entire time I lived there, I worried I was being spied on (seriously!) Recommendations for Improvement: While Painted Desert has the potential to be a pleasant community, I believe some changes could significantly improve the resident experience. Addressing inconsistencies in security services, whether through increased accountability for the hired firm or exploring alternative services, would greatly enhance residents' sense of safety. Additionally, fostering a more open and welcoming atmosphere through new resident "on-boarding" and better communication of HOA rules & regulations (AND Bylaws AND CCNRS) could help ease tensions and build trust among neighbors. Relying upon residents to report and uphold the rules and regulations doesn't create a "neighborly vibe". Last, this community is a big DOG Community! Tons of dog owners, but zero amenities for dog owners. No dog waste baskets, no waste bags, no dog park, nothing. It would be a huge benefit to the majority of residents to have such simple amenities while out walking their dogs. Overall, while Painted Desert boasts certain positives, potential residents should be aware of the high HOA fees, inconsistent security, and potential for uncomfortable neighbor interactions. If these concerns resonate with you, I recommend further research and careful consideration before making a decision about residing here. read more

This review is based off the experience I had with front gate "security". After waiting a few minutes for the two cars in front of me I realize why it took so long. The security lady was out of her mind. I pull up and tell her I have a delivery for x at x address. She walks back into the small building, calls the person I'm visiting, scribbles on a piece of paper, looks at me and asks for my I.D. I'm like okay whatever I hand it to her and she looks at both sides a few times and she asks me "is this expired?" Are you kidding me? Can you not read? She hands me it back and takes a picture of my license plate and says " don't be long". I just find it astounding the amount of interrogation just to enter a community. My mother was a tenant in this community. She passed away suddenly and I was tasked with driving in from out of state to clean out her house. We had few days to do this because I could only get a few days off work. I notified the property manager ahead of time and the HOA was given the exact dates we would be there. Given the circumstances, you would think there would be a little compassion shown to a grieving family who is just trying to make things right. But NO! When approaching the guard gate, we were given a hard time on multiple occasions. When trying to bring in the UHaul to pack up furniture during broad daylight, we were denied because it was Sunday- " no commercial vehicles" Although technically it is not commercial since it can only be rented by individuals. We went into the office to discuss with the HOA management on Monday and were treated incredibly rude by the manager and the security guard acted as if we had a weapon to attack them. I merely wanted to show them the legal documents which gave me the right to act on her behalf. They wanted to act like Nazis and refused to listen or even be a decent human being. Whether you are planning to buy in this community or rent, expect this kind of treatment. It goes far beyond trying to have guidelines for the community of residents. It's a total power trip that they think they can treat proper citizens like enslaved people because you live there. There is NO sense of being neighborly. I've lived in Painted Desert for over 3 years now and I cannot tell you the number of times I've been irritated by the way they treat their residents. Right off the bat, I rented a U-Haul to move over the weekend. I was told on Friday night that I could not bring my U-Haul in over the weekend. I would have to wait until Monday. I had to extend my U-Haul rental & sleep on the floor of my apartment until Monday. Because I was in a hurry, on Monday I unloaded my furniture as quickly as I could to avoid keeping the U-Haul any longer. I had to park my car in the driveway. I had just gotten my oil changed & the cap wasn't put on correctly which caused oil to leak on my driveway. So less than 1 week in, I received an ugly letter stating I had 24 hours to clean my driveway or I would be fined a hefty fee. Welcome to the neighborhood! Next issue, I had a debit card on file for my HOA fees. This card was breached & I had to go into many accounts to change the card. I forgot to change it for PD & I received an extremely rude, threatening letter after 2 months of not realizing my dues weren't paid. They could've contacted me & asked me what was going on but instead I was threatened with losing my home. Next issue; Apparently, I yielded a stop sign when leaving my part of the neighborhood. Barney Fife was sitting by the gate, recording residents. Yes, they record their residents in Painted Desert. They say it's their right to do that. I received a letter stating the board would have a hearing which I could not attend because I was out of state. I called to let them know I would not be there. I received another letter stating at after reviewing the video, they board decided I was reckless & I owed the $100. I may have accidentally yielded a stop sign but I am anything but reckless and haven't received so much as a speeding ticket in over 20 years. If you're thinking about moving to Painted Desert I would recommend reconsidering. They treat their residents like children and do not contact them in a respectful way when an issue comes up. They always initiate every communication with scare tactics and threats and I will be moving within the next year due to this. I've spoken with many of my neighbors who agree wholeheartedly. I have a neighbors tree growing out of control hanging over my yard and dropping debris in my yard and pool, I went to the office with my concerns,they advised me not to cut the tree because if the tree died I would be hailed liable, they were supposed to notify the homeowners to maintenance the tree and that was six months ago,it would be nice if the office would do there job. read more

Coleen Crawford is a criminal. I had a house in Las Vegas that fell under the Ashley Ridge HOA, of which Desert Community Management was affiliated. When I first purchased my home, the community management company affiliated with the HOA was The Management Trust. Since I didn't live in Las Vegas, I asked The Management Trust to contact my property manager any time there was an HOA violation. This required me to give my property manager's contact info to The Management Trust. Eventually, Desert Community Management took over from The Management Trust, and Coleen Crawford was too much of an incompetent idiot to collect my property management information from them. I was given notice of an HOA violation that my property manager promptly took care of, but because Coleen neglected to get that contact information from The Management Trust when she took over, she completely ignored my property manager and ended up issuing me a $100 fine. I informed Coleen that she had no right issuing me that fine because she and the HOA selectively ignored my property manager when they told them that the violation was taken care of. I demanded that they refund me the $100, and they flat-out refused. Coleen sent me a letter telling me that my responses to them were inappropriate and asked me to be professional. Isn't that funny, a crook asking me to be professional. Suffice to say, I will be reporting both the HOA and Coleen to the local Ombudsman for this. After I had to give Coleen my property manager's contact info (again, because she was too stupid to get that information herself when she took over), she informed the property manager that she would finally begin to notify them of violations when they occur. Well, that didn't happen. About a month or so before I sold my house, I received a violation letter saying that there had been a long-standing violation that had not been taken care of. I confirmed with my property manager that Coleen never informed them about this supposed violation. Coleen is nothing but a shady crook that is trying to use bogus violations in order to line her own pockets. read more

They're sending letters every two month about some "violations", to the point where it's become ridiculous. They take pictures of the wrong units and send it to us, trying to blame our tenants for it, no apology either... This business is beyond unprofessional! read more

If I could rate it zero stars, I would. I would like to inform future home owners. That DCM (desert community management) that works/ owns PDCA painted desert community association is poorly run. Coleen Crawford the owner is awful and will pretend she's not Coleen in front of your face. Her daughter Shannon dresses beyond unprofessional and "the Crawford family" give a very bad face to the community. They will send you a lot of letters and when you try to fix the problem they will not help you & say you must contact someone else yet there name is clearly stated on the letter or notice. Security guards are rude. The receptionist at PDCA will not speak clearly into the phone or in person. It is a beautiful place to live but is not worth all the hassle, time and pain they cause among home owners. Not to mention the security guard drives up and down the streets with the lights flashing when there isn't an emergency and they take pictures constantly of properties and yourself without your permission. They even solicit over priced vendors to make an extra dime, which is illegal! If you want to pay 400-6000$ to have a palm tree trimmed. Headaches over the stress they cause. Community Associations that are helpful and enforce the rules get a bad rap from some folks because people who don't follow the rules wind up in the crosshairs. I am not thrilled with everything the PDCA does, but, overall, Painted Desert homeowners benefit greatly from the association, and it's efforts to keep the community enjoyable for owners. We all know the rules BEFORE WE PURCHASE, and we can choose to abide by the rules, or not. If not, folks are going to complain about you, and you will wind up with a violation. if you take a drive through Painted Desert, you will be impressed with the way it looks. That does not happen by not enforcing standards. If you don't want to keep the outside of your home tidy, or want to park cars on your lawn, or want to party with loud music after 10 p.m., or want to exceed posted speed limits, or want to have more than two pets, or want your barking dog to bark day and night...DO NOT BUY HERE!!! This HOA company is just ridiculous. I had 2 brand new trash cans when I moved here with lids and all, well the trash people had just constantly thrown my cans and my kids were ruined along with my trash cans. I revived a letter from HOA saying I needed to have a certain size trash can with a lid or I would be fined. Trash cans are expensive and not everyone has money to buying new trash cans every time the trash people ruin them or the lids get lost. Well I get a letter in the mail saying I was fined $100 for not having a lid on trash can. I feel like if you want certain cans for your community maybe you should supply them threw your local trash people. I have received letters with a picture of one super small weed in my yard all the way towards my back yard and was told to fix the problem or receive a fine. They were leaning on the hood of my car to take the picture. I have received a letter for having a light bulb out saying it's a "safety hazard" not sure how but ok. I have seen the people that come threw and take pictures of things found "wrong" and they drive threw here with their lights out, safety hazard right? There is no area for kids to play. You have a super small play ground with one thing and it's not even all age appropriate. read more
