Painting With a Twist is a super fun group activity! While I'm not the best artist, I still had a really fun time attempting to follow along. The instructor was really good at explaining the steps, and she didn't move too fast but also didn't leave a lot of dead time just waiting for paint to dry. This was really great! My friend is getting married and we were looking for safe, fun, and open options for a bachelorette party. Painting With a Twist was perfect! They had sanitized everything prior, and had a mask policy when walking around beyond your group's area. We also had a little VIP room just separate from the painting area for our snacks and drinks. Kayla was our instructor and she took us through the "Falling for Pittsburgh" painting. This was my first time doing a painting class like this, and Kayla was really clear, helpful, and easy to follow along. There was a camera on her and a few monitors around the room so you could clearly see what she was doing. She would also walk around and check in on us and top off our paint as needed. Last night was my third time here. The prior two times I didn't do Yelp reviews but I recall them being equally as fun. Whomever thought of the idea of painting and bringing your own alcohol was a genius. LOL. It really is such a great idea for getting together with colleagues, classmates, friends, or even dates. The artists/instructors make it possible to make a good painting. We had Casey and I forget the other girl's name but they were both entertaining, fun, and helpful. The two hours goes by so quickly since you are having so much fun. People that aren't big on drawing and painting may feel overwhelmed but each time at this business they show you step by step viewable on the overhead screen and right on their little platform. There are a couple games to play in between and a short break mid-painting. Complimentary coffee is provided. You are permitted to bring your own drinks and snacks. The reservation process on their website is very easy. We went on a Sunday so street parking was free which was awesome. Painting at this location really just feels like a mini-party with strangers and having a lot of fun with drinks and paint. I can't wait to go again. Happy Birthday gift which was definitely well worth it. Not my birthday personally but a friend of a friends. We had our own party room which although was small was still nice. They allow you to bring in your own averages, alcoholic or non, along with food and snacks. We ate and drank about a half an hour before the class started and it was packed. Every seat was taken. Our painting was I believe the Fort Pitt Bridge and side walk. It was a really good scene. It looked extremely difficult but the instructor gave us step by step directions. He did move a little too fast which I didn't like because not everyone paints at the same speed. Half the class would still be painting the sky while he moved on to the bridge and buildings. Other than that it was a great girls night out. It would also make for a great date night with your boyfriend or husband. My husband and I did one of these before and it was very fun. We drew sunflowers though. After finishing the bday party and painting, everyone gathered to take a group picture of their art. Some were very good and others...well it was their first time painting lol. I would recommend this place for sure! read more

I've been here twice, once on a date night and once for a bachelorette party. Both times were a blast! Coincidentally, I had Drew as the instructor both times, which was totally cool with me! He is awesome, patient, reassuring and has a great sense of humor! When I came with my boyfriend, who is a perfectionist, Drew and the other staff members gave him lots of personal attention and reassurance and didn't seem annoyed when we were the last ones there while we were finishing. The two hours flew by and we really enjoyed ourselves! When I came for the bachelorette we had a private class, which was awesome! I especially appreciated that they were flexible with some members of our party being about 10 minutes late while looking for parking, since the late policy on their website seems pretty strict (understandably). the private class was awesome as we got to work at our own pace and have a great time. Drew and the staff were great with everyone in our party, which included girls of all different skill levels. PWAT is a blast, and I would recommend it to anyone! It's a great night out and is really something out of the norm to go and do for fun. It's WELL worth the money, in fact I think it is really affordable for what they provide. read more

I had an absolute blast I did two of my favorite things which was to paint and to shoot both of them requires an artistic skill LOL her instructions are crystal clear and it helps anyone to be able to create a masterpiece on their own although I am a season painter LOL even after coming in an hour late the instructions that was given still allowed me to catch up and create my galaxy the gun range instructor was fun and great as well it's exciting to know that they can come to your home if your living room is big enough and you can have a private party it gets really competitive when you start playing the games and it is so fun I can't wait to go back! Also the party room although it was set up because it was booked by another party was awesome they accommodated so many things all do you bring your on drink and the atmosphere was lovely. Hi my name is Nikki and I just had my second class at painting with a twist in south side. This experience was a little different mainly because of the class size difference. It ended up being just me, my boyfriend and the instructor Sarah. This was absoultely great for a couple different reasons. 1. My boyfriend doesnt really like being around a bunch of people he doesnt know. 2. We felt very comfortable taking our time with the painting 3. We could have great conversation with our instructor and it wasn't awkward at all. 4. She made it fun even though it was just us. The other guy that was there too who took our picture asked very politely and asked if it was ok that it would go on social media. I know i will definitely book another class and maybe my boyfriend might make a return as well. I know the setup might be different next time, but I think he'll manage once he sees how friendly and open a bigger class experience can be. read more

We had our wedding welcome party here and everyone had a blast drinking wine and painting the Pittsburgh skyline. Debbie even allowed us to bring in desserts and pizza for our guests. They even went out of their way to put together a newlywed game that we played during the painting break. Yikes. I went to the pastel forest scene class in the SouthSide on Saturday night (Dec 8) and it was extremely uncomfortable and cringey. My host was kind of obnoxious about sex/genital jokes. It seems like they think adult=sex. I'm okay with sex jokes but this was out of hand and kind of uncomfortable. None were in good taste. They were just thrown in there, and only one person was really laughing at them and he was clearly drunk. I just wanted her to stop talking into the microphone so I could paint and talk to my friend. I feel bad for saying that but it was really weird and absolutely not what I expected. I was really disappointed with my visit and I won't go back. I'd rather host this at home where we can take our time, have conversation, and not be subject to just listening to a lot of uncomfortable and sex/gender-obsessed rambling and poor jokes. I am a transgender person and I think the constant reference to, and stereotyping of, men and women only is exclusive and unthoughtful (to men, women, and gender non-conforming people). And it doesn't add anything to the experience except to make it uncomfortable. There were a lot of queer people there and I know they agreed with me because we talked afterwards. Things like "oh you know guys, they're messy" or "right, girls?" really didn't relate to me and were uninteresting otherwise, just empty words. She should have talked with the audience more, less at us and our sex lives and genders. I was embarrassed for her and myself. As far as the painting goes, I think it wasn't enough time to finish the painting and I felt rushed and received little actual instruction other than "paint this." She also kept hating on the green in the painting which I thought looked nice and that's kind of just a negative tone for the painting we're trying to have fun making.
