My attempt at "Falling for Pittsburgh"

This was really great! My friend is getting married and we were looking for safe, fun, and open options for a bachelorette party. Painting With a Twist was perfect! They had sanitized everything prior, and had a mask policy when walking around beyond your group's area. We also had a little VIP room just separate from the painting area for our snacks and drinks. Kayla was our instructor and she took us through the "Falling for Pittsburgh" painting. This was my first time doing a painting class like this, and Kayla was really clear, helpful, and easy to follow along. There was a camera on her and a few monitors around the room so you could clearly see what she was doing. She would also walk around and check in on us and top off our paint as needed. Everyone's painting turned out really cute! I would definitely recommend this place and Kayla's class. It's a fun environment, and I felt safe given COVID.

Last night was my third time here. The prior two times I didn't do Yelp reviews but I recall them being equally as fun. Whomever thought of the idea of painting and bringing your own alcohol was a genius. LOL. It really is such a great idea for getting together with colleagues, classmates, friends, or even dates. The artists/instructors make it possible to make a good painting. We had Casey and I forget the other girl's name but they were both entertaining, fun, and helpful. The two hours goes by so quickly since you are having so much fun. People that aren't big on drawing and painting may feel overwhelmed but each time at this business they show you step by step viewable on the overhead screen and right on their little platform. There are a couple games to play in between and a short break mid-painting. Complimentary coffee is provided. You are permitted to bring your own drinks and snacks. The reservation process on their website is very easy. We went on a Sunday so street parking was free which was awesome. Painting at this location really just feels like a mini-party with strangers and having a lot of fun with drinks and paint. I can't wait to go again. You really can't beat the time and memory for $35 price.

This place is awesome and fun with friends on any weekend/weeknight! I arrived a little late to the event with CMU BGSO but I was able to hop right in and get my painting started. The instructor was helpful, fun, and didn't pressure us to be instant artists. I can't wait to return with friends/family. The music in addition to the painting instruction was a fun addition to the ambience. I believe they have a lot of other activities they offer so it's more than just painting. Check it out for yourself. Don't forget the wine!

My friends brought me here recently for my bachelorette party. I'd always kinda wanted to try it, but had a feeling it maybe wouldn't be all that fun.... I was a skeptic. It was a blast! First of all, I love that you can book private classes for groups. And I also love that there is an instructor! He not only did a good job teaching the class, but he was fun and kept everyone entertained. It's great that it's BYOB, and I think it's also something anyone can enjoy. It was just a fun atmosphere and I can't wait to go back!

We had a private class and enjoyed it tremendously. Well run- class well taught- and fun. Surprisingly fast paced and engaging. Class taught by Devin was excellent. Highly recommend this event for private functions.

Unlike other painting places, this place has pre-sketched canvases that can guide you to paint a pretty picture. That is was stands out most to me, and what I love about this place. I believe they have classes as well, but you have to schedule an appointment for them. Many of their sketches vary from emojis, nature, characters like Harry Potter, unicorns, animals, all the great stuff! I believe the prices vary from $15-25, at least from what we painted. The workers there are very friendly and helpful! I'm not sure what the guy's name was, but he really helped turn my painting around! He taught me to play with the colors and adding contrast, and it really made a difference. Whenever you run out of paint, they are more than happy to get you more. They also give you another painting that you can try to replicate or add your own twist to it. They just started a stamp program, with every 4 purchases of a painting, you get the 5th one free! If you want to have a fun time for a cheap cost, come to paint monkey! I'll definitely be back and claim that free painting haha.

Due to the National Emergency we're all stuck at home and getting more bored by the day…read more Thankfully Paint Monkey was offering paint kits to go. We got the large ones for last weekend. Easy to order and extremely easy to pick up. Gave enough paints and brushes. Canvas had an outline on it already. Not much in the way of directions though. Mixing colors was a little challenging. All in all it was fun. This week we're doing smaller ones and requested something specific - this past weekend was a mystery. You could make requests which we did for two. Wish I had told them one was for a man. There really wasn't anything given to us that he really wanted. We had a Harry Potter theme, butterfly, toucan, cupcake, and shoe. The shoe really threw me off - like why would someone paint a shoe. Anyways it was still fun.

Went to Local Bar and Kitchen, South Side, Pittsburgh…read more I don't think someone could have a bad time at Paint Nite - Apparently, this is new to Pittsburgh which is surprising because everything went really smoothly. Not a single complaint. Instead of boasting about how much fun it was, I'm just going to answer a few questions that I had going into it/some insight. -BYOB / SNACKS are by venue only. I went to Local which is a bar/restaurant and so we paid ourselves. -Side Note, Local's food is really good, a lot of beer variety, and it was Wednesday Wine Night (buy a bottle, get a bottle)- -There is not a lot of room to eat because the easels are set up close to each other so I would recommend eating before/after -We got drinks before we started and they had a server going around during so that you didn't have to make people move for you (we also took a break during to get more drinks/walk around to see others work and meet new people) -GROUPON had an amazing deals. It was basically half off. -Just bring yourself (paint/brushes/water/paper towel/smock/easel are set up before you arrive) -I recommend getting there 10 min. early to get settled. There was no designated seats for this one and due to the Polar Vortex, no one obviously wanted to sit away from the heater or near the windows. (especially if you're in a bigger group) -You are painting without an outline - completely free hand. The instructor is there to give inspiration/answer questions/paint with you/have fun. -You can paint whatever you want - the "theme" is just kind of a guide/something to make it more of an event. -Went from 7-9. There was no rush to leave. We left our paintings and had a drink after at the bar to let our paint dry. -It's just fun. No pressure/judgment. -Some people were solo/some in groups/some just pairs. All accepted. We went on 1/29 at Local. S/O the "That Paint Lady" ... she was great. Super funny, encouraged drinking and really owned the room.

Everything was well organized, down to the apron, the paints, and all is setup for you in advance. 2. The host has a PA system, so everyone can hear well. 3. The host was very positive, encouraging everyone to be creative and have fun. 4. The painting was broken down into methodical steps so everyone succeeded. 5. It's a great way to meet new people and to socialize with your friends. 6. It's FUN! There are different instructors and venues. I went to Getaway Cafe and the staff there was very welcoming and the food was good. Our instructor had a degree in Art, and she took the time to explain how to complete the painting in easy steps. Nobody at Paint Nite paid full price, they all got their tickets through Groupon. Not sure how long Groupon will sell the half price tickets, but if you use the code PITTSBURGH you can bypass the Groupon website.
