Since we had a private party, we had our own room, we were able to choose which painting we wanted, and they allowed us to bring all of the decorations, food, and drinks we wanted! Have never had a bad instructor here...they are all hysterical. They definitely make it a fun experience! What doesn't go good with wine? :)

Nina is an talented approachable instructor who is very patient and insightful. Her studio/workspace allows for a good number of visitors to create without feeling bunched together. She has a variety of other classes which all look very exciting and the room is surrounded by eye catching pieces of work. My friend and I recently tried the newest workshop of candle-making and it was AWESOME! Nina and Rich showed us the step-by-step process and explained any questions we might have had. They had a lot of different scents to chose from and while we waited for our candle creations to complete we enjoyed conversing with them about many things. These two are a great team and if you are looking for a place to finally try out a new art, look no further!

Had a horrible experience with the owner who lied to the BBB about it. About 1 hour into a 3 hour…read moreworkshop my group was being rushed by a staff member who tore the stencil off of my project when I went to wash may hands, ripping off the paint and stain and splintering the wood. Two staff members tried to "fix" it by pouring on stain and dripping on paint, leaving a blotchy, uneven mess. After telling them 3 different times that I was very unhappy, it was suggested that I leave the project for the owner to fix, which I did. I had to reach out to the owner because she made no attempt to contact me. During a brief email exchange I asked that the owner sand the painted area and give me the stencil to redo it. She refused and said that my only option was for her to complete the project. I asked her to just leave it "as is" and I would fix it myself. When I picked it up I saw that the owner had taken my glued project apart, put it back together crooked, and secured it with about 35 nails so that it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to take it apart again and straighten it. She did next to nothing to fix the original issues. I reached out to the founder who offered to have the owner remake the project. I declined again as the whole point of the class was to make it yourself and, more importantly, the owner had intentionally made my project worse because I had complained about my bad experience. When refusing to issue a refund, the founder said that the crooked, blotchy, uneven planter (that she had just offered to have remade) is "adorable" and "will look beautiful" on my porch. Neither the founder, nor the franchise owner, have offered any type of refund or provision of a replacement DIY kit which is something that they sell. There are so many fabulous DIY businesses, pick somewhere else to go!! AR Workshop in Newtown is a fabulous alternative!

After seeing plenty of living social deals and "look what I painted" posts in various social media…read morenews feeds I knew I wanted to try a Paint Nite. Lucky for me, my boyfriend kindly surprised me with tickets to a Sunday night Paint Nite at St. Declan's Well where we were to paint a sunset scene with two dolphins and a palm tree. The night started at 7 PM, and they suggested you arrive 15 minutes early to set up. We were promptly greeted by Jess, our instructor for the night. The Paint Nite crew had taken over the back half of the bar with a blank canvas set up on a green table cloth for everyone. We selected two seats in the back, facing the opposite direction of the instructor- this wasn't a beg deal as we just turned our seats during instruction. Additionally Jess used a microphone and speaker so everyone could hear- this worked well, but I think it's time for Paint Nite to upgrade to a bit nicer of equipment. If you are coming with a bigger group- get there early so you can get seats together. I wish that Paint Nite would have done assigned seating. Some tables were overly crowded while others had room to share. After getting our cups of water and pumps of paint, we put on our aprons and started the class. At first we were a little nervous, but Jess led us through the entire thing and made it easy for anyone to participate. Jess took pictures throughout the night and later posted them on the company's facebook page which was nice. The bar was cool, but the service was horrible. The bar staff was rude and took way to long to fill orders. I don't think I would come back to this location for a Paint Nite. Overall this is a super unique activity and overall a great time sure to be filled with smiles, painted hands, and laughter. I can't wait to pick another painting and come again.

I'd seen Paint Nite deals floating around on Living Social and Groupon, so when a friend came to…read morevisit from out of down I decided to buy one and sign us up for a Sunday night painting party. When I originally bought the deal from Living Social, it was quickly cancelled, which was a disappointment. However, a few days later I noticed the deal on Groupon, so I bought it again - clearly there are some technical/promotional issues, but thankfully, this time it was on! We did a Sunday paint nite at Head House Crab & Oyster Co, on 2nd and South. The space was huge and the restaurant and bar were pretty dead on Sunday at 7pm, so I can understand why they'd welcome a crowd of 30 painters - especially when those painters are being encouraged to drink throughout the entire class. I understand the reciprocal relationship of Paint Nite using the space and encouraging people to buy drinks from the bar, but the pushiness was obvious and got a bit annoying after 2 hours. As for the class itself, we painted "Fireflies" - an abstract sort of image that is evidently their most popular piece. Although the instructions were vague at time, it was an "Easy" level painting, and so they came out fairly well. Perhaps the most interesting and fun part was to walk around and see how 30 different people could interpret the same scene so many different ways - although I have to admit, it inspired some artist envy! Overall, the novelty of painting your own masterpiece, while being able to sip drinks, makes for a fun night out, especially if you gather up a group to go. At $50 a person, I wouldn't pay full price, but there seems to be no shortage of half-price deals floating around on the inter webs. Not sure if I'll be a repeat customer, because really, what do you do with a bunch of giant hand painted canvases? Nevertheless, check it out yourself, eager to see more reviews up here!

There are many locations throughout Philadelphia but this certain location fit all of our schedules ! We arrived to find out it was only going to be us which was great! It was $35 which we were able to pay online for. Ashley was our instructor and she was thee BEST! She was funny, and very thorough with her instructions. She of course helped out and complimented for our masterpieces. Her music playlist was great too! It took us two hours to draw our painting. The paint dries fast and you also have the option to dry it with hairdryers to really make sure. Your able to bring your own food and drinks to the location so we got our sip on! It was a very fun experience and I would definitely go back to this location to paint more beautiful pictures !

When lockdown started, my husband and kids surprised me with a Mother's Day Art project (modge podge saucer and teacup with stones and and a sweet little succulent) that they had delivered from the Doodlery and worked on at home! I absolutely love that we can still enjoy the creativity that the Doodlery has to offer even when we are at home. We love the Doodlery!
