I can't tell you enough that this is the perfect place. We've painted pottery before, so we chose glass fusion. We made bowls using broken glass. She decided to paint a vase for her Mom and a small leaf plate for her Dad. There was really nothing she wanted for herself. Like I mentioned the selection was terrible. Secondly, we were left upstairs by ourselves while the only employee was working in the basement. She was very sweet and pleasant but how many times can you ring the bell and have her run up the steps? We struggled with a few of the small bottles of paint and they were out of brown paint. We got most everything on our own. Not sure the reason we needed to leave a tip?!! Last time here I was even more disappointed as I was with a group of ladies. We did ceramic trays in the basement. We had to get up and search for the employee to get more tiles, glue and paper towels. We all spent $45 or $50 (I forget exactly) and we were sent home with un-finished trays. We were given powder to mix the grout at home. The instructions were pathetic. I ended up purchasing ready made grout from an art supply store to finish my project. I would NEVER recommend doing a big mosaic project here. It was not what I expected and I felt ripped off with my time and money. Two times in a row I left feeling frustrated. We love coming here but the place seems a bit neglected.

Plenty of free parking available and Admission @ $20 for adults and $ 17 for Seniors was fair. So much to see and learn, you literally had to look everywhere, no space was left unused! The staff was helpful and insightful and we learned a lot and were impressed with the collection. Down side was elevators we not working which was OK for us but might have been an issue for others. #2 issue was lack of air conditioning in parts of the building. I highly recommend you take the time to see this!

It was a random visit. A sunny day, a lovely ride, and we ended up in Doylestown, an area that…read morepiques my interest. Had no idea what was in the Mercer and was blown away by what we saw. Henry Mercer, a true renaissance man, built the Mercer Musem to preserve a vast collection of everyday objects from pre-industrial America. Watching a film at the outset -- most people skipped it -- gave us an idea of what was behind the exhibits. Everything is precisely categorized: tools used for meat preparation, tools for dairy production, tools used with fruit ..... (he had a fascination with tools.) In 1911-'12 Mercer built Moravian Pottery and Tile Works. For a period of time he was recognized as the premier maker of artistic tiles. A mile down the road is Fonthill Castle, Mercer's home and showplace for his tiles. Open to the public, but unfortunately closed Saturday because of a wedding. (What a cool place for a wedding!) Both properties are Smithsonian affiliates, operated by the Bucks County Historical Society. If you find yourself in the area, I recommend a visit. (Ladies, wear comfortable flat shoes; there are winding staircases of hard concrete, and I hate to imagine a fall.) After your visit, you might want to keep your car parked in Mercer's lot and walk a few blocks to State and Main Streets. A number of bars and restaurants.

While there I read some yelp…read morereviews where a small percentage of the reviewers were complaining about the quality of the art and giving negative reviews. Regardless, we decided to forge ahead with our visit! Primed with filling and inexpensive falafel, our first surprise was the really cool mosaic at the entrance. Our second surprise was the free admission. Free! We were off to a good start! We got the map from the delightful person behind the counter who refused to take our money, and headed up the stairs to the second floor where the majority of the art awaited us. Entrance to the stairs was included with the Free admission. Nice! The art on display runs across myriad regions and periods. The map will help you find your favorites, as the organization didn't seem to follow any particular theme. It might have a theme, but I didn't worry about it much. I had a map and it was free. Give yourself at least a couple of hours to view the second floor. There are a lot of small rooms, and many of the works have detailed information that helps explain their origins and history. If you want to look and not read, don't sweat it. It's not like it wasn't free to visit. Last of all, in case you missed it, it's Free. Every other museum in the region charges $20 just to walk in the door. This place is Free. Zero $. Gratis. How the heck can you get upset when it costs nothing! I'm glad I didn't get upset because my favorite Monet wasn't the one on display (They had a water lilies painting, and it looked great!) Go. Enjoy the place. Afterwards, take the money you saved with the free admission, and go get an inexpensive falafel at Mamoun's!

What a gem hiding on the campus! Can we talk about the artwork in the entranceway. That alone is a…read moreshowstopper. It's like two stories high and just beyond fabulous. If you go into the art museum and go upstairs, you can actually view it from the second floor as well, which is pretty cool and get a closer view of what's up higher. No, we showed up after closing. So we didn't actually get to see the whole collection, but they do have a number of pieces that are out and under a protective glass plane. We saw pieces from Andy Warhol, Singer Sergeant, Rothko, Lichtenstein just to name a few. I cannot even imagine what's in the main collection. If you are visiting Princeton or in the area, you owe yourself a visit to this museum.

I took a Saturday morning to go in early, the website says to expect to spend some time there to be educated. I love to be educated! Lol. Amy is such a warm, kind hearted soul which is clearly displayed in her work. I went to her for two Father's Day gifts, so far we have one completed. I picked the first picture up today and it is absolutely stunning! This picture means a lot to my father and I had the last copy so I had it enchanted and Amy framed it. She took the time to teach me about my options and what would work best for my piece, she even figured out a way to cut costs without me even asking or needing it! I cannot wait to complete my second project. Once I deliver the gifts I will post pictures. If you appreciate true artistry then this place is exactly what you need! Each showcased piece was the actual photograph and not a print. She gave us the story of how she got started, what she's doing now, and where she'd going with her art. Commissions. Ideas. Inspirations. Requests. Displays. All of it. She was the kindest! This was her last weekend so I'm glad we made it there.
