    a fruit and vegetable stand
    Dan B.

This roadside stand has been here for over 50 years. The owner buys directly from local farmers to provide customers with a large variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. Winter months are a great time to buy their seasonal fresh strawberries as well as oranges, tangelos, and grapefruit. They offer shipping and this can be a great gift for friends or relatives who live up north. I like to purchase avocados from here as they're always fresh and good. They also sell locally grown honey with several varieties including black mangrove and saw palmetto - which might be useful in combating allergies. On the far end one can buy ice cream - in a cone or in a cup. They also offer Key Lime pie, either whole or by the slice. I bought one and thought it was good, if not a bit too sweet for my tastes. If you're on your way to Sanibel for a day relaxing along the causeway parks this would be a great stop to pick up some tasty and healthy items. You should check out the size of their watermelons, wow!

This was not my first visit to Pair A Dice Produce. The first time I was looking for fresh radishes and did not find any other than prepared ones in the fridge section. When I don't like a place I really hate to do a review but as a Yelp Elite I must tell it like it is. I purchased two Idaho potatoes which when I got them home they went into the trash. I don't know how I missed that they were very soft but I did Mrs. K. didn't. They had red potatoes that Mrs. K. didn't buy because they were too soft. I purchased a head of cabbage for St. Pats day corned beef and cabbage. On looks alone it does seem to be fine. Many reviews have mentioned how good their salsa was. I purchased some and say it would be slightly above salsa in a jar. I guess the next time we visit is when we forgot we came here.

4.5 stars! We made a quick stop at this little street side market. I can't resist local produce stands like this :) They had a decent about of local products. We bought some Georgia peaches, local Sanibel mangoes, some marmalades, local honey and juice. The mangoes and peaches were incredibly tasty. So sweet and juicy! Most of the produce was so ripe and soft though, it was hard to find some that would last more than a day. But for people who want to eat their produce right away it's great I guess! We were really happy with all of our purchases and so happy we stopped by :)

I wish there were more stars to give! We shop here every time we visit the area. Friendly staff and lots of produce to buy. I'm a fan of the guacamole and key lime pie. A variety of local honey is available too. Don't be deterred by the exterior.

So excited to be the first to review this business! I'm a sucker for farm stands. I quickly turned the wheel into Pair A Dice Produce (cheesy, right) after reading the sign for "fresh juice", "salsa", "key lime pie", etc. Those aggressive and simple signs are all it takes for one hungry traveler. This lean-to style shed boasted made in-house salsa, guacamole, key lime pies that a local told us were amazing, honeys, citrus of all sorts and vegetables. Oh! And how could I forget the budget-friendly strawberries? The staff was very friendly and even allowed us to wash our strawberries in their sink before hitting the road.

We ran into Pair O Dice Produce on the way to Sanibel Island. It is also across the street from the Shell gas station where we were getting gas. Fresh Home made Guacamole and fresh home made salsa caught my attention. It sounded like a perfect snack on the beach. They have a small and medium if available. It is 3.99 and 6.99 respectively. No samples though so I was going back and forth about buying it because it said jalapeño. My hubby can't handle spicy. We bought it, & it was good, not spicy, but could have had more seasonings. My hubby is partial to mine and so am I. Either way, it still was a good option for a refreshing snack on the beach. They also have local honey, cheese, key lime pie( I wanted one of those, but not the whole one). They have other sauces and produce. I also bought cherries which were 4.99 a pound. That was a little bit cheaper than I see elsewhere considering cherries are pricy as it is. There's really no where else btw there and the beach, so glad we stopped!

    "Fresh" salsa, purchased today.

Good guacamole and vegetables. Although, the prices were a little high for a produce stand.

I have to say I was quite surprised that 99% of the vendors were not organic. But, luckily while browsing, we came across Michael from Pine Island Botanicals and his vendor tent. Michael is the classic laid back island guy. He quickly introduced us to all of his amazing lettuces. Actually I feel bad calling them lettuce because that makes most people think of a head of iceberg lettuce. YUCK. When I refer to lettuce in regards to PIB, I mean the real green stuff - so many varieties you can't even imagine, and in every flavor you have never thought of. He has spicy mustards and Asian greens mixed and probably twenty or so other that I can't recall the names. He mixes it all up in a mix that you can take home and make the most amazing salads ever. I mix Trader Joes Champagne Muskat vinegar with organic olive oil and drizzle it on and ... heaven. The salad we had our first night was so delicious that I woke up the next morning and had it for breakfast. Yea, it's that good. Anyway, we loved it so much that we went to the actual farm on Pine Island the next week. Michael was nice enough to give us a tour of his completely organic and hydroponic farm. I won't ramble on- just know that if you want real food- not sprayed with the crap Monsanto wants us all to be sickened by- try some of this. You will love it.

I was unsure of how worthwhile stopping at a citrus market place would be, but we had some time to kill and Sun Harvest Citrus ended up being such a good find! There's plenty of parking. As we walked up to enter the market, everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) was eating ice cream from here. These people got the memo - the ice cream is where it's at! They also have a juice bar in the back where you can sample the fresh juices. I don't even like orange juice and even I found the cranberry orange and strawberry orange juices to be sweet, delicious, and refreshing - the perfect treat in the Florida heat. They had other flavors like grapefruit juice, classic orange juice, tropical orange (pineapple), and a peach orange. Juices are available by the half gallon and single bottles. They even had a chips and salsa sample which is also made fresh. We grabbed some local tasty treats as souvenirs - popcorn, salt water taffy, jerky, coffee, cookies, etc. They also have homemade key lime pie - available by the whole pie, half, and slice. And of course, we had to get the ice cream! I got the orange dreamsicle cone, which is their orange soft serve and vanilla swirled together. Great flavor, great texture - no complaints! There was also a key lime flavor (also delicious) in addition to more classic flavors. They have three sizes - kiddie, single, and jumbo. The kiddie size was the perfect little pick-me-up treat. You can also get fresh juices and other bakery items. We found a coupon in one of our Florida brochures for the ice cream which they honored without issue. We also saw a coupon for the big bottles of juice. There's a couple tables inside and additional benches and tables outside to sit and enjoy your goods. Sun Harvest Citrus did not disappoint! It was a nice pit stop.

Parking wasn't bad and if you're looking for a souvenir from Florida then this is the place to go and you can definitely spot where you are by driving down the road and seeing a big metal orange. This place is full of souvenirs to potentially bring back: spices salt, and pepper, shakers, alligator jerky, Florida, popcorn, coconut candies, etc. I love that you can have samples of the juices before buying. They even had some salsa and chip samples. They are shown to have a coupon in the touristy maps and guides. One where you can use to actually get a discount on your ice cream. I ordered the dreamsicle which is the most popular, but I didn't have a chance to look at the sizes and after ordering realized that the lady, I just put me in for the regular size which was too much sugar for me. If it does, though she was kind of rushing me which I didn't love. Also, if you're wanting to use the coupon, you have to have your own copy and cut it out/rip it out. And it's also one per order. I also ordered the Keylime pie. I like the filling. It had a very much coconut flavor probably because they use more coconut milk, but their crust on it was not very good. The cream score was actually pretty good. It was a hot day so it melted pretty quickly, but I liked the orange thing that it had and balanced with the vanilla.
