Although small, the venue certainly gets in some good acts, including Andy Parsons, Russel Howard, and Showaddywaddy. Whilst all Russel Howard kept going on about was his boring family, he did have a start-up act, and also spent time afterwards signing merchandise and taking pictures with anyone who wanted one, which was set out in the modestly sized foyer area out front, which also includes a decorative grand piano. The only thing I don't like about the theatre itself is it always smells dusky and dirty, and the venue really needs a total renovation to justify prices akin to it's current owners, who are the same people who own the Cliff's Pavillion, though saying that, the prices are very reasonable, and do represent value for money. If they renovated the place, they could pull in more talent, and more audiences, and thus this would work out for everyone.

The Palace often has interesting plays and a variety of shows on - I have managed to see The Vagina Monologues, The Circus of Horrors tour and a Wind in the Willows pantomime at Christmas. The prices are much cheaper than going to the west end and it can be just as enjoyable. I would advise checking the website a while in advance to see if there is anything you are interested in. Most show shave a very short run of a week or two.

There is a bar serving interval drinks which can also be pre-ordered and there's a kiosk to buy sweets and soft drinks etc. the theatre is particularly buzzing around Christmas when there's a Panto for children and adults alike.

Anyway, nicely located in the town centre. Update 2012: The originial Theatre Pub doesn't exist anymore. The old theatre has been refurbished and now has a very modern appearance.

During my undergrad years here, it was actually still under renovation and well, I'm shallow and new buildings always excite me. Marlowe is no different, it's definitely ready for big crowds and summer time drinks outside the patio. They've made a large patio and even decorated it with a happy theatre mask which is creepy at night, and if you're a bit drunk and high. (Students will most likely be that!) Inside the theatre itself is a theatre worthy of big big productions, I think they have 4 levels of seats, somehow, we managed to bag front row centre tickets to see Sarah Millican (to be fair, we booked 18 months in advanced!) The only qualms I have is that they definitely cater to the the locals and not students because the prices for drinks are STEEEEEEP. £4.10 for a frigging single oj and vodka. (I might just go the to student bars beforehand, thanks. If any of you feel the same way, and not local to Canterbury, drop me a line and I'll direct you to the uni campus so if you do want to drink like a student and give the liver a wake up call, you'll know where to go-also SNAKEBITE. The South London Theatre is a community theatre, this means all the backstage workers,set builders,…read moredirectors, actors and even the bar staff are volunteers and anyone can get involved regardless of experience. It is great fun and with over twenty shows a year there is plenty of opportunity to get involved. There is also a very active youth section with classes on a saturday morning for a whole range of ages.

The seats are comfy with a lot of leg room and great views from the Circle. The staff are very friendly too. Went to see Keep Dancing. It was a very entertaining night out, with special guests from Strictly Come Dancing, Lisa Riley and Robin Windsor. Good music and good dancing. I also liked that it finished at 9.30pm giving you plenty of time to get home if you have a long way to go.

The auditorium is lovely, and the seats were very comfortable. There is a good selection of eateries for pre/post show meals (most within 5/10min walking distance to the venue).

We had a fantastic tour guide who brought a ton of charisma and fun to his retelling of the history and stories behind The Globe. There is also a self-guided portion of the tour, with props and set pieces from some of the more modern productions which was very fun to see. Stop in the gift shop for a few souvenirs to cap off the experience.

We came here a few days prior to get tickets for an evening show of Romeo & Juliet. There were…read moreplenty of tickets available at all price points and we opted for the standing room only to have that full experience. Upon return, there was only a short line to get in and we got there only a few minutes beforehand so did not get up front. The facility is nice and I love that the space is outdoors. Glad it wasn't raining though with our tickets although the seated areas are all covered, the stage and actors are not. With our tickets, having someone tall in front of you and having to stand the whole time is a challenge. That said, we enjoyed the unique version of Romeo and Juliet and had a great time!
