I started researching on Yelp and read a lot of great reviews for several local companies. But one company stood out just a bit more which I decided to inquire with: Golden Oak Tree Care. At first I used the Yelp messaging to initiate contact with Reynaldo, the owner, but soon switched to text messaging. He was very quick to respond to my inquiries, needs and pricing after I sent (upon his request) photographs of the nine trees that needed attention. We agreed upon a very reasonable price, then set up a date and time for him and his crew to perform the work. My wife was home so she met the two gentleman that work with Reynaldo. They arrived at the designated timeframe and were very cordial and polite according to my wife. They quickly went to our backyard to prep for their trimming. Reynaldo arrived shortly afterwards but before I arrived home from work. Upon arrival I met him and his crew. All three were really cool and answered all of my questions regarding the types of services they do besides tree care and what they do not do. That was really great news for me since I have several more landscaping projects I can request Reynaldo and his crew to help me out with. Reynald inquired with me if I would like my shrubbery trimmed as well. After deciding which shrubs needed attention, he indicated the additional amount to our original agreed upon amount, to which I agreed to and requested he take care of our shrubs. UPDATE -- Unfortunately, our experience changed significantly after I posted my original review…read more When I originally wrote this review, I genuinely believed we had found an excellent landscaping team. Unfortunately, as the project continued, I became increasingly disappointed with the quality of the work and the way the job was handled. Several issues have come up that I feel are important to mention. The property was not properly graded as we had discussed. Instead, the grading was done by hand with a shovel, despite being told the property would be graded. The DG installation also became a major issue. Proper research and preparation were apparently not done before the DG was installed, resulting in the DG having to be redone twice. We have also experienced a leak in the irrigation line, leaving the DG wet. Additionally, two of our sprinkler manifolds are now hammering because they are receiving approximately 110 PSI of water pressure, which is a concern that should have been addressed with the irrigation system. The project also took approximately twice as long as expected because the work was largely done by hand rather than using the appropriate equipment. From my perspective, the job seemed increasingly rushed, with the focus appearing to shift toward finishing the project and moving on to other jobs rather than taking the time necessary to ensure the work was done correctly and to a high standard. There were also issues with the sprinkler timer installation. Initially, the timer was installed in the back yard with an extension cord. We ultimately asked that the timer be placed inside the garage, and we ended up having to drill the appropriate hole ourselves for the sprinkler wiring. What makes this especially disappointing is that my original review was written because I truly believed in this company and the people behind it. Tony has a great personality, and he and his wife were very kind and personable, which made me feel confident that we had chosen the right team. Unfortunately, the quality of the work and the way the project was completed did not live up to the impression we initially had. I regret that I initially recommended the business so highly before the entire project was completed. I wanted to give an honest update because my original review no longer accurately reflects our overall experience. I sincerely wish things had turned out differently, because I believe this could have been a great experience if the same level of care and attention had been maintained throughout the entire job.
