Has your child ever gone through something traumatic--something that, had you been given the chance to intervene, you would have stopped ? That is exactly what happened to my daughter here. And a month later, my stomach still turns when I think about it. From the very beginning, something never felt right. My motherly instincts always told me that the setup in this office was off. Children--including toddlers--are encouraged to go alone into an "open room" full of other kids to receive treatment, while parents are required to remain in the waiting room until everything is finished. Yes, there are private rooms, but only two children at a time are allowed to use them with a parent present--so if you have more than two kids, you're forced to split appointments across multiple days. I never felt comfortable sending my 2- or 3-year-old alone, so in the 2 visits we had here, I used a private room with her. But my older girls, ages 7/8 and 9/10, went into the open room together without me--because we were told that was the policy and that parents were not allowed to check on their children due to "HIPAA privacy." I've never heard such a justification at any other pediatric dental practice, and it never sat right with me. And then came the day everything confirmed those fears. On this particular visit, my 10-year-old daughter went in as usual while I stayed with my younger child. When the appointment finally ended and I was allowed back, I immediately saw that she was visibly shaken and had tears in her eyes from crying. I immediately asked if she was okay and asked the doctor what happened. The doctor casually told me that my daughter "lost a tooth during the cleaning." Which I didn't believe, So I said that I was unaware that her tooth was loose enough to pull since my husband checks it every night. But once in the safety of out car, away from the pressure and the eyes watching her, my daughter broke down and told me the truth: Her tooth did not just fall out. A hygienist used a tool and pulled it out with no topical anesthesia ; a tooth that was loose but not ready to come out on its own. They never sought my consent. They never informed me. They simply decided to do an extraction on a frightened 10-year-old child, alone in a room where parents are intentionally kept out. For a child who already struggles with trust around doctors and dentists, this was more than a misunderstanding--it was a betrayal. She felt scared, powerless, and misled. And as her mother, knowing this happened while I was feet away yet barred from checking on her is something that is so infuriating. This entire structure--isolating children, refusing parental access during treatment , minimizing or concealing what actually happens during treatment--creates an environment where this kind of incident becomes possible. I did speak with the clinical manager MJ right after the appointment and told her that I was very dissatisfied and very upset with how everything went . I was also charged for a tooth extraction on my bill even though they continued to stick with their story that the tooth just fell out. I also spoke to MJ through email hours later when my daughter's extraction sight kept bleeding and was not cloating. I did ask for the Dentist to give me a call because I was worried , but she never did, and never has . So I feel that I have done what I needed to do before leaving this review. Families trust pediatric providers with their most vulnerable little humans. This practice broke that trust with my daughter and me. Please don't let it happen to you. read more

WOW!!! what an amazing experience today with my toddler and teenager!! Our little guy (4) was terrified, because of a pass experience at a Wellington pediatric dentist... they took him to a private room where I could be with him. Talked to him about each instrument and let him feel it... to Reiterate he was SAFE!!! After the cleaning that went so well, he was ready to take X-RAYS by himself!!!! To start, I work with children in a high acuity mental health hospital as an RN where I encounter trauma in many forms daily. I also have a vested interest in studying trauma while I obtain my PMHNP. That said, onto my review. When I was filling out the paperwork for the initial visit, I specified no fluoride (The reason behind this is that the liver of a 2 year old is not developed enough to handle large amounts of chemicals that could be handled by an adolescents liver - additionally fluoride crosses the BBB, which again is not something I will subject a developing brain to [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6923889/]). After reviewing the paperwork, the front desk woman told me what they are going to do, which included a liberal amount of fluoride, post cleaning. I reiterated that I was not accepting fluoride, and she gave me a laminated paper to sign to that effect. Once we made it back I was given a brief tour of the facility and open dental bays. Since our daughter is very young (2 years old), we went into a private bay. The dental hygienist that came in set everything up and explained to me what she intended on doing. I agreed with the hold that if it became a negative or traumatic experience I was going to stop is as I will not be traumatizing my daughter, particularly on her first trip to the dentist. The hygienist said ok, and said she has to start with some non-fluoride mouth wash on a gauze pad. My daughter was not warming up to the idea quickly as it was a new concept for her. I was showing her the gauze when the hygienist asked for it back and attempted to forcefully shove her finger with the gauze pad into my daughters clenched mouth. My daughter started to cry and I told the hygienist we will hold off on it. I could tell the hygienist was becoming frustrated, but she kept it in well enough. The next attempt was looking at her mouth and teeth which my wife and I have been working on for this trip. My daughter opened her mouth with the ahhhhh sound and the hygienist again tried to put her finger into her mouth which caused my daughter to close her mouth again. I ended up counting my daughters teeth for the hygienist. After this, the hygienist said we will do a knee to knee where I hold my daughter and lower her upper torso and head to the hygienists lap for inspection. I obliged and attempted to do so. My daughter was not having it, and the hygienist attempted to ramp up the pressure on me to force my daughter into position. I was also instructed to hold her hands. While this may be best practice at this office, the traumatic ramification of this act can be as severe as the child perceives it to be - particularly since there is no frame of reference for her to judge it by. I did attempt this as the reason we were there was something that I'd prefer the dentist to look at, but again, my daughter wasn't having and was hysterically crying and starting to scream cry. At this point, I asked if the dentist would look at her for the reason we came in for (gum flaps with slight inflammation over the lower right molar). The hygienist said they have to complete a complete cleaning for the dentist to fully inspect what is happening. At that point a second hygienist came in and gave me essentially a shake down about how my daughter will need to lay down or nothing else can happen. She also told me it can be pretty traumatic for parents to watch their child cry and that they have a practice where I just leave, and they take care of my daughter with out me there. She tried to explain to me that she would be ok and it'll only be for a couple of minutes. I said we will attempt the next step and forgo the cleaning for now. They said ok and we moved on to the xray. I was to hold her facing away from me while they performed the x-ray. My daughter would not face away and held onto my shirt tightly. The hygienist said she has to sit still otherwise they will have to keep taking pictures until they get a good one in a fairly condescending tone. I said that will not happen. Repeatedly exposing a 2-year-old female to radiation is not a healthy practice and is not something I will allow for my daughter. I asked if the dentist can look at the gum flap to determine severity and the hygienists left the room. One hygienist returned and told me that the dentist will not see my daughter because she cannot lay down. I said she can open her mouth, and again the hygienist told me no. I will not be returning to this dentist's office, in my opinion, for obvious reasons. My wife and I had two goals for this appointment. The primary reason was to have my daughters' gums evaluated and the second reason was to have a positive first experience at the dentists. Neither goal worked out. In my profession opinion as a nurse, and as a nurse that works with highly traumatized children, then benefits were outweighed by the negative's experiences for this visit. After calling for info when a friend reccomend this office, I was shocked to find out that I would not be allowed in the exam room with my son. They told me under no circumstance will they change their rules. He is just shy of 2 years old. I will never give them my business. The staff is very rude. read more

Parents are not allowed in the back with their child for the entire examination process, regardless of age. Needless to say, for this alone, I would never return to this practice. read more

I love this office! Dr. Lisa Ameer is a miracle worker. My child had a HORRENDOUS experience with a previous dentist and was traumatized to say the least. I honestly thought I'd never get her back in for a checkup but ended up having to because one of her fillings fell out. I was able to schedule a visit with Dr. Lisa where I could go in and hold my daughter's hand. It went pretty well. The staff and dentist were so very patient, warm and welcoming despite how nervous and hesitant my daughter was. We came back today to have the filling fixed and everything was amazing!! My daughter was comfortable enough to get treated without me (even though they gave me the option of going with her) which I could tell made her feel good about herself. She even said, "I did it, Mom!! Like a big kid." Cherry on the top, my daughter's front teeth look like her original teeth instead of the huge chiclets the other dentist gave her. read more

Most parents prefer an independent experience but we accommodate for those who don't. Very nice place until you don't allow them to do something to your child that you do not agree with. We have been coming here with my 6 year old since she was about 3 years old. We went in to the office and my child needed a tooth removed under anesthesia. The staff did not allow my husband to be present during this traumatic procedure. I called the office and asked to speak to a manager and asked them to please please ! make an exception, we have been coming here for a long time and so have my friends. The person on he phone said that they spoke to the doctor directly and the doctor refused to to allow my husband or anyone in the procedure room with her. When we chose to not do the procedure, They were suddenly very nasty and rude. Had no compassion and who knows what they actually do there when your child is alone and not awake! I have worked in the medical field for over 15 years and have never seen a minor go in alone with no adult at a doctors office. I called them to request records and they dismissed us from the practice because we requested records. If you are ok with letting your child in without you while they remove her tooth then this is the place for you. Not for us and would never recommend. This place is horrible and the doctor is extremely rude. Only cares about the money. I suggest as a parent you do not allow any doctor in a room with your child without you being present! Such a damn creeper. Can't believe this policy is even allowed. read more
