My husband and I started going to this gym back in January. Our first three months were focused on Bootcamp classes only. Even though the Bootcamp classes are still enough challenge for me, my husband decided we should venture into the CrossFit classes. I am glad he did, we're loving it! Even though I still struggle to keep up with the exercises, there's a great camaraderie around the group, we fight hard to get it done and the coaches are always there to keep us going. We felt welcomed from day one. That's why we make sure to welcome every new face we see there as well. We are looking leaner and healthier than we first started. I am from Los Angeles, where it seems like CrossFit gyms are opening up right and left these days. I had tried out CrossFit at a few locations in LA, so I felt like I had a pretty decent idea what to expect going in for a class at CrossFit Tarpon Springs. I told the coach, who also happens to be my brother, about my experience in the past and he seemed amused, "this should be easy for you then, don't worry." Typing this out a few days later, I can hardly raise my arms to the keyboard, but I will just to tell you about what a unique and awesome experience I had with the class. 1. First of all, it's really hard. It was made clear to me that is the intention. This is not LA Fitness, and they are not rushing to grab as many members as possible at the expense of doing what is right. This is about doing work and pushing yourself and others to get the best results you possibly can. It takes a certain type of person to find the fun in challenging yourself, but if that is you, you will feel right at home. 2. The Facility. I showed up, walked inside, and was blown away by the size of the place and the amount of equipment. There were bars, ropes, rings, and rowers, all the usual stuff of course, but then a bunch of stuff I hadn't seen before. There were wheel barrows that you add weights on and push around, these intense-looking racks with harnesses that you run with, and even stretchers. The stretchers made sense, I wanted to be carried out after my workout, but the coach assured me those are not there for emergencies, they are used to carry teammates in group WoDs. Lastly, the Airdyne bikes... so much harder than I expected. The coach said that variety is key when it comes to CrossFit, and I could tell they were prepared to deliver on that promise. 3. Personal Attention. I have heard friends say in the past, "I am not going to pay 150 bucks a month to have a coach bark orders at me while I do all the work". It's true, I have been to gyms where it seemed like the coaches were only focused on competition and the top few athletes there. It was my experience at CrossFit Tarpon Springs however, that the coaches are really involved and invested in your success. My fiancee and I were learning a new exercise and both coaches stuck around patiently and observed us fail around 20 times until we got it right and I could tell it was worth it for them. Pretty cool. All in all, I was very impressed with the gym, the coaches, and the community and am excited to see it grow. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to push themselves and get great results. read more

I joined this gym a long ago when it was still less than a year old. There is not another gym in be been to that compares to what Crossfit Tarpon Springs has to offer. I travel often for work and have been to many crossfit gyms around the country, however there is not a close second to the workout i regularly get here. read more

Found this gym after moving to the area and saw the reviews. Made a phone call spoke with the gym manager who was quite helpful and had lots of good information. They offer one class for free. They have a 12 month contract for $120 per month with an automatic debit to your account. There is a six month option for $140. If you did a three month contract it's $160 per month. I thought it's a little pricey to make that much of a commitment right off the bat. They don't offer a 30 day new client intro special so you can get a feel for the culture and the experience of the gym alongside what you're really there for - a kick ass workout. I showed up for a 5 AM Boot Camp class 15 minutes early like the manager suggested. Looking at the gym and the equipment it seemed maintained and the gym is large with a variety of equipment. I noticed a couple people in the back that were stretching and one person who worked at the gym who appeared to be an instructor. I walked in while the person who worked there was at the front door. She immediately looked at me and walked away. I stood at the front desk awkwardly waiting not knowing what to do or where the paperwork was. The instructor never made an attempt to help me. After more than five minutes of standing there not knowing where to go or what to fill out I walked over to the instructor. I politely asked if she knew where the release forms were so I could fill that out and not be late for class. She was clearly annoyed by my question. She reluctantly showed me what the release form was (which was on an iPad) then proceeded to question me if I had filled out a release form. When I said no (as I was not presented with this prior to coming) she again clearly annoyed told me "fill this out" and walked away. While filling out the release form another male instructor walked by and I asked him where do I put my belongings and which class would be best suited for me. He was helpful to explain briefly the differences between the cross fit vs. boot camp class which I fully appreciated. I put my stuff down where he suggested and made my way over to the work out area for the Boot Camp class. The same person who was annoyed by my presence was the class instructor. She never took a moment to introduce herself, therefore, I don't have a name to mention. I said to myself I am going to make the best of this even though I felt unwelcome. I was happy I happened to know someone who was taking the class. This woman and the other class takers were welcoming and helpful. Much more than the instructor. The instructor's version of a warm-up was a 45 second plank with some form of weight on your back alternating with a partner for ten minutes. After the so-called warm up we did a list of exercises from a board, 80 kettle bell swing's, 70 ab roll ups (forget their technical name). Etc. At one point, I stopped doing kettle bell swings to go to another exercise. The instructor told me I was not to do that. I stated I thought we could move from station to station depending on how many we could complete the reps at our own pace. She stated "this is not any other gym you've been to before" to which I agreed and was thinking never again will I come to a gym like this. Her reference made me feel even more out of place and not welcomed. I will say, doing everything in a row without a break is challenging and I'm sure I'll be sore. But I have been sore in many other classes way better than this one. In total the class was about 40 minutes long. I've been to many many other better classes with instructors who have a positive, welcoming attitude toward new potential clients. When you're looking for a new gym "home" and you're looking for a good work out and a positive environment to be around, this gym does not fit the bill. My only hope is all instructors are not like this. I was shocked by how I was treated as a new potential member. I've been to many gyms in my life and never had such an experience with someone who works at a company you're trying to patron. I am disappointed because this gym is 6 minutes from my house and I am a consistent gym patron. I feel fully inclined to write this review based on this experience. read more

I cannot say enough about this gym and coaches. I have been going here for 18 months and started with Bootcamp classes. Coach Jenn started me off on an amazing journey to find a love for fitness and running! Fat loss challenges have helped me to learn how to properly fuel my body. Personal training with Coach Wayne helped me to build confidence Finally, I transitioned over to the CrossFit side and now am seeing gains I never thought possible. I was a member of this gym for four years. Sadly it has become increasingly cult-like. It was the final straw when one of the owners openly advertised on Facebook for "women who just want to garden and raise kids. 2to 4 spots available". I have too much self respect to be a part of something like that and would hope other women and men who value women as equally human would not support such a mind set as well. When I responded to the post trying to kindly indicate perhaps it wasn't appropriate the owner personally attacked myself and my daughter and resorted to name calling saying I was a Karen on other peoples posts and calling me rude, tacky and selfish I believe it was. Honestly he is his own god and if you don't worship him he can't handle it. He is in his mid 30s and has consistently gone after young girls in their late teens and early twenties. He got at least one previous member pregnant (began dating her when she was in high school). There are two other partners in this gym and they are upstanding guys but until this blight is removed I can't recommend anyone frequent this establishment. read more

I joined CrossFit Tarpon Springs early this year and have had nothing but great experiences. The coaches are very professional, safe and supportive to your individual goals and capabilities. They come with decades of knowledge and experience and provide an excellent program whether you are looking for CrossFit or Boot Camp style workouts. These coaches show up everyday because they love what they do and it shows. The community here is very welcoming and positive. Whether you are young or older, fit or getting there, everyone treats each other with respect and is supportive and encouraging. I was an instuctor of hard core classes (bootcamp, tabata, HITT) at YMCA for 7 years, I had to quit because I own an Art Studio and I couldn't keep up with teaching and my business that was growing fast. I stopped exercising, I gained a lot of weight and I was getting very frustrated, one day I saw the sign on the road for 3 classes for free at CrossFit, is 5 minutes from my place, i decided to try it out and I loved it. These guys are the best!!! Unfortunately I am not a heavy lifter and that part of CrossFit I didn't like that much, so I didn't come back but they came up with a new program Bootcamp! Which I tried out and of course I fell in love with the class, I wasn't consistent enough because I was always putting my work first but Steve and James were always checking on me and asking me where I was, they were very consistent on me up to the point that now I go at least 3 times a week. I love the way that they coach, they pay attention to every member of the gym. And everybody there is very nice. You feel welcomed immediately! I highly recommend this place, even if I am not a big fan of CrossFit I think whoever loves that type of workout should be there. The bootcamp program is so simple that sometimes when I read the board to see the workout of the day I think oh is going to be easy today! And for my surprise I always end out of breath! I absolutely love this gym. The trainers are knowledgeable and friendly. They are truly there to help you with every aspect of your fitness and health. They will modify workouts if you need to, while also challenging you to be your best self. They are family friendly, and allow you to bring your children, as long as they are safely in their stroller, or sitting on the couch to the side. For a parent, that is a game changer. They have amazing hours, and you basically have no excuse not to be able to make a class. They are always purchasing new equipment, as well as give you incentives for bringing in the family or friends. I've made so many great friends through this gym. Come take a class! read more

My wife and I had never tried CrossFit before and reached out to CrossFit Tarpon Springs. Everybody was VERY helpful and helped us get started safely and quickly. After our foundations sessions to get us acquainted with the sport, we fell right into the regular schedule and have never looked back. Now it has been eight months since we've joined and we never would have imagined the results we have achieved. Best gym I've ever been to. Awesome facilities and even better trainers. Steve and James are top notch and with their conditioning and knowledge, I've surpassed all my fitness goals in such a short amount of time. I absolutely love showing up here everyday. They cater to all fitness levels, no matter where you are in life. I started at 262lbs and am now down to a solid, sleek and sexy 185lbs. Never felt or looked better. I've picked up so many great lifting and nutritional tips as well as developed the gymnastic side of my skill set tremendously.
