10/10 stars for Palmer electric which I do not own. Our house power failed last night after weeks of flickering. We called another company who claimed to have emergency service at midnight and stayed up for hours awaiting a call back. Finally we went to sleep to awake at 7 am and call Palmer. A qualified technician called us in 30 minutes (at no charge) and told us to call Duke to confirm it wasn't their issue. Duke said within an hour it was house not them. Palmer was out within an hour thereafter with ample communication during that time. Come to find out the main line connected to our main service box had fried and could have actually caused a fire. Thankfully it didn't. Around the time (10 am) we had a prognosis from Palmer at a reasonable non-emergency rate the other company called us back but we already had a resolution. They would have charged us $250 for a service charge far above what Palmer charged. We found out from Duke that Palmer is one out of three preferred vendors and we were in good hands and many other companies would have charged a service call without ruling out them first. All this to say we are Palmer customers for life. I will also talk to Palmer about making their yelp say they have 24 hour service which deterred us from calling them first as yelp said they were closed versus the other company who obviously didn't really have emergency afterhours service. read more

Palmer just left our house at 1:15 pm. Our appointment was the 1st morning call at 8:00-8:30 a.m. They didn't call, test or email. When we called them, and "I'm sorry (the FL motto) was all we got. An hour later, the electrician appeared. Our electrician, Jean, was great. Friendly, professional and skilled. The company, however, knowing they were more than four hours late, had the temerity to charge for another 30 minutes ($90) because, while the work was done, my partner made the mistake of asing one final question which put us moments over their automated counter. This made an estimate call double in price. We plan to speak to a manager regarding this, but initial efforts fall on deaf ears. HARD PASS on a company that can so callously and unthinkingly treat the masses because they've been successful at it. We are a service provider hub here; we're happy to extol the virtues of those worthy of it, and we won't stop warning people away from poor service. read more

I had a good experience with Palmer. Our neighbor's tree fell on our power line, ripping our electric service from the side of our house. Palmer was able to come out the next day, make the repairs, and coordinate with OUC and the city inspector to get us back up and running quickly. The electrician, Brandon, did a lot of hard work outside on a miserably hot day and was very professional. The office communicated well and was very efficient with the city permitting process. Although I'm certain the job turned out to be more involved than they originally thought (due to some previous work from another company that had hidden issues) the final bill was consistent with the original estimate. Service call was as I was expecting so normally I would just rate at 4 star but I am going with 5 stars because of the scheduler Jessica. They brought the needed supplies and switch plates (I explained the issues over the phone), corrected the problems and made me feel comfortable with the problem solved. Carson is amazing! He's been working on our new build for the last two weeks. Very intricate custom home with a LOT of tricky walls to get thru. Finished up today and the finally product looks amazing! Seriously. Every wire, every outlet, every detail is organized, cut just so and the whole place cleaned up. He was always so polite and chatted with us on our daily visits by, always letting us know what he did that day, asking opinions of placement of what he was working on, etc. So professional and courteous! Called for a service appointment on a Sunday morning during a tropical storm warning. An electrician contacted me within 30 mins to get information on the service need. I explained what was going on and that is was affecting or A/C. He asked me to send pictures of related items ie breakers, service panel, Daman was at the house in about an hour. He was polite, knowledgeable and very professional. Problem fixed and A/C running great. I highly recommend this business and Daman. Very happy all the way around. read more

I called Palmer Electric because I had some light switches that needed to be rewired. Had to leave a message. A few hours later, I got a call back and set up a time for the electrician to come out. I spent the afternoon waiting for someone to show up. No one came. I finally called and was told that my appointment got bumped because of an emergency priority call. Why wasn't I called? Informed of this change of plans? This is an awful way to do business. My advice is to go somewhere else. read more

Palmer originally wired our home when it was built in '79. We've used them ever since for wiring. Yet, a month ago, when I called about having our whole circuit breaker panel replaced (FPE), I explained what we needed and that we were long time customers, etc., and was transferred to "Evan" who wasn't there so of course I had to leave a message. (I always leave my name and number 2x - once at the beginning and once at the end of the message.) Never returned my phone call... One bad experience turned me off. They are a BIG company and should have tried again or left a message. I used Henry Electric, a company I highly recommend. read more

Have definitely had some issues with scheduling and actually getting the job completed in one go around, but once able to get the right people in place for the job everything is done perfectly. The problem is with scheduling not with the actually work being done, so as long as you make sure they completely understand everything you need done (unfortunately you'll need to explain in detail) then you should have no problems. read more

I'd really like to leave a review based on the quality of work they do but competency papers to be a high bar. I scheduled an estimate on 4/11 with window of 8-12. The appointment was apparently changed to 4/12 by the technician coming to give the estimate. We met on 4/12, he apologized for the scheduling change (training related) and later that day I had an estimate. I accepted the estimate and shortly after received an email with a date and time to perform the work. I responded to the email, with work to be done on 4/22 arriving between 8-930am. I also called the office on 4/12 to confirm my scheduled date and time, and was even given the name of the technician who would be performing the work. Now it's 4/22 and i call the office just before 9:30 to ensure someone was still coming (maybe running late) only to be told that I wasn't on the schedule. The same person who confirmed my date/time on 4/12 now tells me I'm not scheduled. Every review on their website is 5 stars, so if your time isn't valuable you still might luck out. read more

I had heard good things about this company. Hired them to install a new light fixture in a foyer. Told them in advance that the ceiling was 18' high or so. They said they would bring a special ladder. They arrived but said they could not do the job with the ladder they brought, but insisted I pay them a $115 service charge anyway. They returned a few days later with the right equipment and charged me for another service call. They left the light hanging crooked and the floor a mess. All in all, not too impressed. read more

This is the second time I have used this provider. The first time some work was done incorrectly by them (through Lowe's) and they needed to send out a new electrician to fix the first one's error, and they did. I have no real complaints about that work as they corrected it free of charge. I should never have used them this second time though. The work they did was incorrect, and when I called a manager there to discuss it I had a very negative experience. First of all, he took over a week to return my call, and then insisted I call him back immediately or he would put a lien on my property. Really? Then, when I did speak to him, he was not willing to make any accommodations at all in regards to the possibly mistaken work on my pool. Rather than admit that there was the possibility that work was done incorrectly on my pool and offer to either fix the incorrect work or modify the bill, he told me if I did not pay it he would lien my property. When I indicated that I had already needed to pay another company to come out to try to fix the work they did, he insisted he knew it was done correctly b/c he had 25 years of experience in the business. However, he was not the one who did the work on my property, and he has never been to my property. His comment was "I can see from my tech's notes here that the work we did was correct" (despite the fact that I have never seen your system). I am now in a situation where I have a bill from Palmer Electric, I have paid another company to come out to figure out why my pool stopped working, and I now have to pay them again to come fix everything. I would warn you to be very cautious in working with Palmer Electric as this is my second negative incident. I would expect the manager to be willing to come inspect the work that another company is insisting was done incorrectly, but no such offer is available. read more

Palmer Electric workers seem competent, but the people in charge seem to have trouble with scheduling and assigning enough staff to do a job. I had them come out to my house to replace an electrical panel and do some other wiring jobs. It was only supposed to take one day and they were supposed to send two people, but they ended up sending only one poor guy who worked all day without a break and still had to come back another day to finish the job. On the return job they were again supposed to send two people, and again the same worker got sent out by himself. They did provide the services requested at a reasonable price. read more
