Instead, we had to repeatedly request routine attention, and even then, responses were delayed or inconsistent. When they finally showed up, the wrong equipment was sent for the job, not enough manpower, which led to incomplete results and more problems. When a written update did arrive from the company, it read more like a pity story than a straightforward service status--heavy on excuses, light on specifics, with no clear timelines. Bottom line: polished messaging, poor execution. If you need a snow company that's responsive, properly equipped, and able to handle routine service without being chased down, this wasn't it. It may also be noted that if you are a community inside the beltway, not to use a company that is based in Severana Park, Maryland - only based on proximity.

I saw the temperatures dip and I bought a dethatcher to get to work. I set this weekend aside to do the work. I scheduled another company to come do the aeration. I spent Friday afternoon and Saturday morning mowing low and dethatching. At 2:30, the person supposed to do the aeration told me their machine broke. It was scheduled to rain at 4pm so I was a little frantic. Luis was able to fit me in at 4:20 and his team got to work. Luckily the rain held off. As they were aerating, I was overseeding lol. Started to drizzle as we were all finishing up. I managed to lay down some fertilizer just before the rain intensified. I can't thank Luis enough for doing such a last min job and considering it was just to aerate. They drove all the way from laurel just to help me out. More than the work itself, I really speak to the kindness he showed. Even when he arrived, we had a very nice conversation and it was just overall a nice exchange. We have hired McDonogh Companies in the past for outside work and we were pleased with the work…read more Sometime in early April 2024, we requested that McDonogh do additional miscellaneous work for us to include removing bushes, recommendations for adding plants/bushes, fixing pavers on our patio in the back and removing a fence. It was weeks before someone came out to look at the work that needed to be done. A representative from McDonogh finally came out on 4/23/24 to assess what work needed to be done. At that time, we were told that it would take a little bit of time to write up an estimate because of other jobs that McDonogh was engaged in. We figured it would be a few weeks before an estimate was submitted. It is now six weeks later, and we still have not received a proposal. I would not recommend McDonogh Companies for the simple reason that their customer service is lousy. Any company who feels that it is okay to take several weeks to submit a proposal is not up to par with good standards.

Today they decided to cut down my wife's peony plant with their weed wacker. This plant is sentimental to my wife because it was given to her by her mother 24 years ago and she looks forward to it coming up once every year and blooming on Mother's Day. Ironically, it was 20 years ago today that her mother passed away which impacts the removal of the plant even more. They offered to replace the plant and I explained to them that it wouldn't be the same because of what the plant means to her. I find it hard to believe as landscapers they don't know the difference between a plant and a weed! I guess I can't really get upset with the employees because the blame Lies solely on management for not properly training them!
