SnowMovers has proven to be underprepared and overextended when it comes to servicing communities…read more They send detailed, confident pre-storm emails outlining their plowing and treatment plans--but when it's time to execute, they don't follow through. During our most recent storm, they went missing for long stretches of time, and routine follow-up work simply didn't happen. Our community association had to make simple requests, that were not extraordinary-- basic, standard items that any snow contractor should address proactively without residents having to ask. Instead, we had to repeatedly request routine attention, and even then, responses were delayed or inconsistent. When they finally showed up, the wrong equipment was sent for the job, not enough manpower, which led to incomplete results and more problems. When a written update did arrive from the company, it read more like a pity story than a straightforward service status--heavy on excuses, light on specifics, with no clear timelines. Bottom line: polished messaging, poor execution. If you need a snow company that's responsive, properly equipped, and able to handle routine service without being chased down, this wasn't it. It may also be noted that if you are a community inside the beltway, not to use a company that is based in Severana Park, Maryland - only based on proximity.

Their drivers are timely and very sensitive to the needs of our residents. They never rush and will come back to complete the job when cars are moved. Most importantly I can trust that they will show up when needed, and I have complete confidence it will be a job well done.

We have hired McDonogh Companies in the past for outside work and we were pleased with the work…read more Sometime in early April 2024, we requested that McDonogh do additional miscellaneous work for us to include removing bushes, recommendations for adding plants/bushes, fixing pavers on our patio in the back and removing a fence. It was weeks before someone came out to look at the work that needed to be done. A representative from McDonogh finally came out on 4/23/24 to assess what work needed to be done. At that time, we were told that it would take a little bit of time to write up an estimate because of other jobs that McDonogh was engaged in. We figured it would be a few weeks before an estimate was submitted. It is now six weeks later, and we still have not received a proposal. I would not recommend McDonogh Companies for the simple reason that their customer service is lousy. Any company who feels that it is okay to take several weeks to submit a proposal is not up to par with good standards.

They came through our Columbia MD neighborhood for the first mowing of the year on 4-16-2024. Our…read morecommunity contracts them to mow all of the common areas only. However, on their first mowing every season they usually cut 2/3rds of my backyard where they end up tearing up the turf by flying through it at a high rate of speed with their zero turn mowers. Today they decided to cut down my wife's peony plant with their weed wacker. This plant is sentimental to my wife because it was given to her by her mother 24 years ago and she looks forward to it coming up once every year and blooming on Mother's Day. Ironically, it was 20 years ago today that her mother passed away which impacts the removal of the plant even more. They offered to replace the plant and I explained to them that it wouldn't be the same because of what the plant means to her. I find it hard to believe as landscapers they don't know the difference between a plant and a weed! I guess I can't really get upset with the employees because the blame Lies solely on management for not properly training them!

I contacted a few home improvement services that do this type of work and they called me.Only one person came out to give me an actual estimate. The others gave me guesstimates over the phone without seeing the work involved. The problem with over the phone quotes is being quoted one price, and then after seeing the job, the price increases. One contractor who I really wanted to use because of their reputation was a bit of disappointment, first I had to call the company several times to get their son to call me. Once he called he gave me a bunch of BS for scheduling the job, he said that he would call me 24 hours ahead of time to do the job. He gave me a call at 9AM, said he can come do the job that morning. I wonder what happened to the 24 hour notification! I had a prior commitment so that day didn't work out for him. He said he would call me back. In the meantime I contacted Extraordinaire Asphalt & Grounds Maintenance, Dave Danel (Owner). He was extremely professional. Mr. Danel wanted to know if he could stop by to look at the job in order to give me a price. He was here the very next day and on time. He evaluated the work to be done, and said he would email me with the quote. A couple of hours later, I received the quote by email. I decided to have the work done by Extraordinaire. We set a date and time for the work to begin. I got the email the day before the job was scheduled, as a reminder. He showed up on time and the job looks good. As a retired professional home improvement consultant, I know the value of showing professionalism and treating the customer with respect, and courtesy. This company, Extraordinaire (Dave Danel) met all my expectations, certainly an enormous contrast in the way companies do their business. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of driveway repair or maintenance.
