They live up to the "pleasant" name. ;) They have salon services and lots of activities. The common areas are clean and they're taking their COVID precautions seriously, checking temps of every visitor and limiting visits to in-room only; not in the common areas.

My Mom was in the care unit , they were supposed to take care of her 24/7. They did not. When we…read morewere there, the nurses and aids would not even check on her! She got a UTI, which no one caught!! She ended up dying from that UTI and other infections down there. Friendship Village is NOT friendly at all!!! I would rate less then a one star. The food is very good and I enjoy going to dinner. I recommend Friendship Village to anyone who wants to have a wonderful experience in their later years. I was here with…read moremy family and my siblings to move my mom from independent living into the assisted care living at the RPH. The staff could not have been more accommodating and kind! They were so supportive of our desire to make mom's room set up in the best way we could - allowing us to go buy new shelf unit to make space for things in the bathroom (for mom, her roommate and the lady next door who also shared that bathroom), we bought a new vanity for the room and they were happy to install it for us, and they found a dining area for us to eat with mom as a family (and we are a big family) on Sunday after church. We truly appreciate the staff here - nursing, aides, kitchen, maintenance, janitorial... eveyone's job is important, and they seem to take it as important!

I will always…read moreregret deciding to allow my mother to stay in a nursing facility because no matter how good the facility is, it is never a home. However, this was a better choice than some others. The staff was cheerful and accommodating when we first came. She received excellent nursing care for the most part, and the surroundings are excellent, clean, sanitary and well furnished. The food was also very decent. My only complaint would be some of the staff. There was the physical therapy person who seemed hostile to black people and uncaring. Then there were staff that made it a point I was not welcome, and therefore my mother. They made rude, suggestive remarks with sexual overtones. I don't know if it was other residents visiting the room, or one staff member who made a rude remark with sexual overtones to me as well, about my identity. I did not report it because my mother was very vulnerable. This was extremely hurtful and will be almost the worst experience I have ever had to go through. I don't really blame anyone, because I know I make some people uncomfortable, but she finally passed away there, and to this day, my conscience bothers me. Other than that, this is a good place for your loved one.
