This IS the place to get that perfect cake. I left with a Neapolitano which is a 3 layer walnut, coffee, chocolate rack layer with cream cheese chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries. Boy, did I pick the right cake!! Not only was this a hit with the man of the day, all the guests and restaurant staff got a piece and all raved about it. Since that first visit I've been several times for various occasions and tried a few things and have always been pleasantly surprised. These ladies are the real deal and I can't believe every restaurant in town isn't using Chocolart for their desserts. With an hour to kill, I decided to pop in for a pastry and espresso. Lourdes is a very local place. None of the employees or customers spoke English, but that's how it should be in Mexico. Inside was very clean, and we were able to communicate with no problem. While looking over the treat cases, I was excited to see a chocolate cupcake labeled as "Keto." Trying to be good (and since I was getting ready to shove about 6 tacos down my piehole later that afternoon), I bought the low carb cake along with an espresso. I was nervous drinking the coffee because I'm not sure if they use filtered water here, but my tummy was fine after. I guess the super hot water kills any bugs. Your mileage may vary, and I probably wouldn't order espresso here again. It was literally a Nespresso pod (which I use at home every day). The cake was tasty, especially for one with limited sugar! It was a nice breakfast treat to share. We took a seat at one of the the little outdoor tables to enjoy the warm Mexican breeze. There's not a view to speak of (it's just a parking lot), but it was still nice. Two espressos and a large keto cupcake set us back 108 pesos ($5 U.S. dollars).

Secondly, the menu has serious range... from Benedict sandwiches to omelets to crepes and so much more. Get your French food fix here! Lastly, the prices are reasonable, especially for the authenticity of the food and the quality of the atmosphere. The place doesn't exude sophistication. Instead, it offers a relaxed place to have a high-quality meal or a quick coffee and a delicious pastry to go. The was a table with quiche, bagels, lox, cream cheese, and two types of salads. Another space had multiple tarts and large fresh fruit platters. And finally one last spot had fresh cooked salmon covered in pistachios. The chef and staff were amazing. They took time to explain to guests what each item was if they had questions. Last but not least they are a kosher kitchen. If you need kosher fare this is the place! The store itself is tucked away and has amazing pastries as well.

The middle section had pistachio frangipane (or it looked like it) with coarsely chopped pistachios that brought another layer of crunch! Then to top it all off, it had pistachio cream on top of the cookie! I only wish I got another one. CAPPUCCINO It was okay. But love the foam! It was frothy and foamy! PAVLOVA The meringue was a bit too hard and too sweet and the pastry cream was overwhipped. Loved the fresh fig and blueberries though. I was looking forward to eating pavlova and this was very disappointing! KOUIGN AMANN Very buttery and sticky! Crispy on the outside. Every bite was not dry, but chewy. There was this sticky and chewy texture that wasn't unpleasant, yet it wasn't fully flaky like a croissant. But glad it was not dry! The kouign amann was not as tall like others I've tried, but I preferred it this way because it was not dry. The last kouign amann I had from Bread Lounge was dryyyy. But bought mine at a coffee shop too. PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Crispy on the outside, but I must have toasted a bit more, so the outside was a bit more toasted than desired. Inside was good. Good dark chocolate. BUTTER CROISSANT Really buttery, flaky, crispy! Ate it next day, so reheated it in the toaster oven to bring a more crispness all around. Really enjoyed this! CUSTOMER SERVICE Got there early afternoon. There was only one person in front of me. Good service overall. Quick service. Hits and misses of the various pastries I've tried. We have passed this cute coffee place on the numerous trips we do for the various wineries in the area. So we decided today to stop by on the way home. The place just opened but yet we were greeted by the owners warmly. The husband and wife duo treated us like family. We waited 5 minutes for fresh coffee to be brewed and it was good! I only needed to add a dash of sugar and a swirl of milk. The coffee did not have a bitter aftertaste. Their pastries is so good too! We wanted to wait for the fresh tortillas but we had to hit the road. For sure on the next visit, I will have my fresh handmade tortillas with their coffee. This is not a frou frou coffee place. This place offers fresh brewed coffee and it's simple and basic but good. A definite must try when you are in the are and need a good cup of joe.
