"You're a cook, you'll figure it out." Well, I did some research and found a recipe for efo riro (Nigerian stewed greens). But besides the iru, there were half a dozen other ingredients I knew Fred Meyer or New Seasons wouldn't carry. A few weeks later I saw the sign for Mama Pauline's and figured she would help. Did she ever! (She even carries iru beans, in case you want to make the dish but didn't get them from your brother.) I bought a dried smoked fish (the store has several kinds, and the owner guided me to which would work best for this dish), powdered crawfish, bitter greens (again there were several kinds, frozen), genuine Nigerian curry powder. She even carries dried cow skin (ponmo), which the recipe calls for but I decided to leave out! The dish came out fabulous. And it has interested me in the whole subject of African cuisines, something I hadn't really thought about, much less dabbled in, before. I'm getting an African cookbook from the library, and I know where to get the ingredients. Even if you don't have a specific cooking project in mind, the store is absolutely charming -- a small store packed with ingredients you've never heard of (including some fresh produce and cold beverages), with a gracious and friendly owner there to help.

It takes a little less time if you go through the drive-thru, but still, the response times are abysmal. The problem is that this *PHARMACY* now prioritizes all the vaccine people, who take precedence over prescription pick-ups. Ridiculous. Don't go here. Get your prescriptions filled at Rite Aid if you want decent service.

But…read moretoday, Saturday March 16 at approximately noon, something special happened: the wait line was greeted and acknowledged by a wonderful cashier. I've never seen that happen until now. She engaged with every customer with a smile and enthusiastic greeting. The gentleman before me was trying to apply points for his purchase...an annoying and tedious process...and I had a badly sprained wrist so I was slow and clumsy, but she was supportive and very helpful in moving things along. She apologized to the customers in line, greeting each with a warm smile. (She also gave me some kind advice about using horse linament for my badly sprained wrist, but I was too distracted by pain to pay attention.) She was altogether wonderful. Please give this kind-hearted, generous employee a raise! She exemplifies the best of customer service!!!! I am having a miserable weekend filled with pain and unable to use my right hand. I accepted that nothing good would happen this day. But boy, I was surprised by the kindness and consideration of this cashier for every customer waiting to check out. She has been the bright spot in my miserable day. Thank you for hiring her, and please, please give her a raise!!!

Waited in line an hour and a half at the pharmacy but they said they didn't receive the…read moreprescription and refused to fill it. I was really ill so it was a time sensitive prescription. They also closed the pharmacy with people in line behind me that had also been waiting that long. Others had similar issues where their prescriptions were called in there but the pharmacy claimed they didn't receive them. I ended up having to go to urgent care to get a new script to take to a different Walgreens to have filled. This pharmacy ended up accepting and filling it two days later. Avoid this location.

We've been working our way through the menu and it's hard to find a favorite. There is seating both upstairs and downstairs. Stopped in the other day to buy TyLenox arthritis meds, one of the locked items, and the price here was several dollars less than other stores. While there I perused the aisles. Was pleased to see that everything was well organized and fully stocked. The store was clean and bright. Big improvement, kudos to the management. Parking right out front in their own lot makes it even more convenient.

Terrible store and getting worse since being made private in March…read more Recently I went for a passport photo there. It was supposed to be emailed to me. That occurred, but it was double protected so they sent me a text too. The text never came so I went back and got a refund. Went to UPS and had no problem getting my photo. Then a family member tried to return a package via FedEx. Walgreens does FedEx returns. A similar issue. We gave them the package and the FedEx paperwork but they could not make it work. We went to the FedEx shop instead and the return took less than 10 seconds. Only two people working there today. Calls for customer service coming in from all over the store. The cashier was busy and the other person was trying to figure out the FedEx return. Freezer and Cooler broken down again too. What a joke.

Staff and pharmacist have always been helpful. The 162nd location did just close their pharmacy on the weekends, but I believe you can have medicine transferred between Walgreens if needed. The Walgreens on 1905 SE 164th Ave seems to be the one open the longest and on weekends.

I am a…read morediabetic that had been waiting for my medication for 3 weeks and when I called, was informed by a pharmacist who's name starts with an S, that my insurance required yet another doctors approval. I of course am extremely frustrated, and explain to her that nobody updated me on the status, and my blood sugar was jumping up several points per day the last few days...I asked her if I could just come pay out of pocket and that this was "SO FRUSTRATING that they keep doing this things to me about my meds!" Rather than having empathy for the situation, she decides she's offended because my tone is elevated and accuses me of yelling at HER. No. I am scared, frustrated and growing impatient and it's not directed at her...but, she decided to tell me she is going to "end the call" if I don't stop with my tone. Well, instead of me needing to worry about her feelings, I will now take all my business to Safeway, and so are my 5 adult sons, my daughter, my husband and oh yeah...my parents, and the 6 grandkids I have...none of their meds will to go this store every again. If you are more concerned about someone's tone who is in serious need of medical attention, you are IN THE WRONG PROFESSION. Grown up and stop acting like a middle schooler who needs a power trip on those who you THINK have to put up with your crap...no we do not. We have options other than Walgreens, thank goodness!.
