Panache is run by proprietor Susan Anthony who has trained with top hair stylists in New York City and Scottsdale, Arizona. I found Panache after trying several salons in northern Michigan. After my first cut and color with Susan, I knew I could quit looking for a stylist. I'd found mine. I recently moved to Kansas City, and have found that finding a new stylist has been the hardest part of the move. Based on a referral, I started out going to one of the best salons in southern Kansas City. I've been nothing but disappointed, here and at several other salons. I wasn't too surprised to have to pay more in the "city", but I'm really surprised that even when I paid 2x for my color, and 50% more for the style, I was getting styles and color that didn't even come close in quality to what I got at Panache. I guess I have difficult hair, with swirls and cow licks in difficult places, and very thick hair. Not to mention the fact that I insist on having a wash and wear style that doesn't require anything more than blow drying with a round brush. Susan was always great to listen to my needs and give me a style that looked great and met my requirements. Every time I go back to Michigan, I call Susan and ask her to do a "hair intervention" to fix the bad cuts I've been getting in Kansas City. I'm moving on to stylist #5 in KC, but I always know that Susan will be there for me when I go back in a few months. I've always felt it wasn't worth it to cut corners with what I spend on my hair. When my hair looks good, I feel good about myself, and project a lot more confidence. That's so important in this job market. My experience in Kansas City has really driven that point home. In the end, I spend more on my hair trying to get a bad cut or bad color fixed than if I spent a little bit more in the first place. When I was in Michigan I always felt that Panache was a good value, a good investment in me. After my experiences here in KC, I am even more certain that Panache is an excellent value, delivering great styles and color at a reasonable price. read more

I love love love my hair after today!! Laura listened to exactly what I have asked for and after today's blowout.... wow!! She nailed it! She got what I was trying to say and I was really impressed... I love that she gives me the chance to say what I liked and didn't like about what she did the last time... she listens and she cares! I was highly unimpressed with the service at Panache. My mom and I went there in advance to schedule an appointment to have my nails done for my wedding, and were assured that we'd receive a call if the appointment needed to be canceled. No call came, and upon arrival at the salon, I was ignored for several minutes. The proprietor reacted with surprise that I even had an appointment and wanted to know who we'd booked with (herself, a few days prior). She had neglected to tell us at the beginning that the manicurist would be out of town for the weekend and was unavailable, then made several excuses about not having a receptionist. We had an awesome experience at Panache. My daughter got married on June 30th at Castle Farms in Charlevoix and we made an appt. for the wedding party to get their hair done in the morning. Susan, the owner actually closed the salon down for us. We had a great time taking turns getting our make-up/ hair done. It was such a nice atmosphere. We brought in some breakfast foods, and made some coffee and mimosas! Everybody's hair turned out perfect. The bride had a pre-trial hair appt. so we knew her hair would be good. Sam is one of the other stylists in the salon. Between her and Susan they did around 9 girls.Being a first time mother of the bride, I was a little concerned about how my hair would turn out. Sam did my hair, and I never had more compliments in my life about how good I looked.If fact, the whole wedding party looked great...especially the bride!
