After assisting me, two employees began talking to each other about customers who speak English in Puerto Rico. They commented that if someone lives in Puerto Rico, they should speak Spanish, and questioned why people speak English if they already know Spanish. These remarks were made while I was standing there and appeared to be directed at me. I found their comments unprofessional, disrespectful, and inappropriate for customer service employees. Customers should feel welcome and treated with courtesy regardless of whether they choose to communicate in English or Spanish. Puerto Rico is a bilingual community, and no customer should feel judged or mocked for the language they use. I hope management addresses this issue and reminds employees to treat all customers with respect and professionalism.

One thing to keep in mind is that this location is much smaller than many Walmart stores on the mainland, so don't expect a huge Supercenter experience. That said, it was well-stocked and easy to navigate. The most interesting part of the experience was the checkout process. When you select how many plastic bags you want, an employee standing nearby actually hands you the exact number of bags you requested instead of letting you take them yourself. It caught me off guard at first, but I assume it's a measure to prevent people from taking extra bags. It's a little unusual if you're not from the area, but certainly not a big deal. Overall, this is a solid Walmart and a convenient stop if you're visiting San Juan and need to pick up essentials. It may be smaller and have a few practices that are different from what mainland shoppers are used to, but the store was clean, organized, and served our family well during our trip.

Cooked food, sushi, breads, sandwiches, fresh baked pizza, booze, produce, meats and almost everything you can cook are available. I usually pick up local spice mixes to take back home as gifts instead of a keychain soon to be buried in a drawer, fugly fridge magnet or chipped shot glasses. This spice section was pretty full and was inexpensive compared to other metro areas and souvenir stands. Since everyone eats and cooks, instead of hot sauce or other bottles of condiments, I love to share dry spices or canned meats, that are easy to pack. Coffee is another one that we love to try out and share after sipping samples. Boricua is great ground dark roast to consider. Walmart might be bigger with more stuff but we really search out local grocery stores to get a feel for a pulse of the area.

The aisles weren't messy or cluttered & the shelves were actually pretty well stocked which isn't always the case @ every pharmacy store. The line moved fast & the cashier was really nice to me & genuinely friendly. It made the whole interaction feel more pleasant & less like a rushed transaction. This place is right on the main road here in town that runs parallel with the beach. They've got everything you need here for a short term to get you buy, including grocery items, ice, drinks, and then all household needed stuff, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, regular soap, scrubbing pad, & more. You can also get all the standard stuff that you think of when you think of a Walgreens, cough medicine, allergy meds, headache aspirin, bug spray, sunscreen, lotion, you name it. This place is a must when here to stay to get the needed items in your room, next time I'll come by here on our first night in town.
