It was our last day in Puerto Rico, so right before we had to go to the airport, my friends and I decided to grab a caffeinated drink. I found this place on Yelp and it looked very pretty; it was perfect for a tranquil start to the day. We called them to inquire about parking and whether this place was open to the public or if it was just for hotel patrons. We parked in the hotel lot and it is open to the public. They did have a person at the counter who could take our order with a menu above their head, but they also had kiosks. I chose the kiosk because it's less pressure; I was allowed to browse the full menu at my pace without feeling the pressure of someone behind me trying to place their order. I was torn between the iced matcha and the iced chai. I went with the iced chai with whipped cream (+$0.50). They ask for your phone number and text you when your order is ready. While we waited, we used the bathroom, which was on their patio area around the corner from the building. On our walk there, we noticed all the plants and greenery they have, both on the wall and around the perimeters of the tables. The bathroom was spacious and clean, but no stalls, just one. I liked that they had seating indoor and outdoor (both regular and high tables) but it was such a good day to not sit outside. The outdoor seating is completely shaded. We sat down at one of the corner areas. After about 10 minutes, our orders were ready. The ice chai was delicious! It had a subtle mocha flavor, with subtle taste of spices, and was very creamy. Halfway through, I needed more ice so I got some from their vending machine. When we went to validate our parking ticket, it came out to about $1.50 which wasn't bad for the hour + we were there. read more

Review #1,052 Posted on 5.1.26 We came here for coffee on Saturday morning April 25th. This spot is located at the bottom of the Residence Inn in Isle Verde. This place is super nice, it reminded my wife & I of Porto's a bit. They've got both indoor & outdoor seating. We ordered their classic coffee with coconut, called the Coqui. Now the place is awesome atmosphere, good drinks, good food, but it took way too long to get our order, amateur hour as far as that goes. It took them 45 minutes to get our coffee & food out, and we're not talking a four course meal chef Ramsey prepared, it was literally 1 breakfast sandwich. We weren't alone either, countless people waiting for a very long time with us, I don't get how it could get you that point to be honest. They had at least 10 workers back there, I could see 10 minutes, even 15, 20 is pushing it, but 45? Coffee & sandwich were good, but nothing special and for sure not worth the irritation that sets in when you're left waiting to that degree. I thought of giving this place higher marks because it's a very nice establishment, clean, lots of places to sit, and nice atmosphere, but they earned this 2 spot they're getting for the experience I had. read more

My coffee was very good, i ordered a cortado- with hazelnut syrup , I had the lemon cookie with it, also yummy, not too sweet , the burger looked amazing. I would opt to do that the next time. I went to this very cozy Puertorican style bakery to eat a Spanish Caldo Gallego. The service was good. Unfortunately, although the Caldo Gallego looked very good, it was extremely, extremely salty. I e been coming to sobao for years . We stopped 6 years ago. Always got my food cold . Place is amazing , beautiful place. They workers were never friendly . We decided to return this year and the change in service is amazing , we meant a young woman named Tamara , what a lovely lady. Super friendly and extremely attentive . This is what ever place of food needs , people who make you feel welcomed . The food is served to you now , you get a number and they bring the food to you with a smile , a few words of kindness . This place was recommended by our rental company. We went the day we arrived for a quick lunch. It tasted and felt like a Panera. You order at a tablet then they call you when the food is ready. So no table service. We ordered the Cubano and it was the worst Cubano I have ever had. It was dry and flavorless. I asked for mayo to be added but didn't see any on there. Yum! Yes, it is delicious and yes it was easy to order on the kiosk. But it is Spanish and English for some parts of it. But we figured it out. I got their iced coffee drink, it was coconut with some other stuff and whipped cream. The eggs, ham and veggies with bread so good! We also got a cheese pastry that was so good as well! I still felt like I could figure most things out even though reading any Spanish is pretty limited for me. They text you as soon as your order is ready. They were pretty busy in there, but it didn't take very long. They did mess up one part of our order but quickly fixed it. The iced coffee coqui was awesome! I can't recall exactly what my food was called but it was basically an omelette with veggies. It came with ham, but I opted to leave the ham out. The bread that came with it was delicious! We tried lots of coffee while in Puerto Rico and this location was one of our top placeholders. Even better that we stayed at the hotel right next door and could pop in every morning before our adventures! When you walk in, you are met with the choice of self-ordering through a kiosk or at the counter with a barista. Wait times for a single cup of coffee can be a little long when it's busy. And patio seating is also available! I also appreciate how you can opt in for a text message notifying you that your order is ready if you are not within the establishment at that moment. I definitely would recommend trying the salted caramel latte. They also had the best cappuccino I've ever tried. Their coffee is so high quality and the price is a sliver of what we pay for a cup of coffee in the states. They also have some really good bites. The pulled pork burger was flavorful and juicy. Came here twice for breakfast during my stay and honestly it might've been my favorite meals during my week in Puerto Rico. They have super affordable breakfast sandwiches. I tried the ham and cheese sandwich and the ham and cheese Mallorca (sweet bread). Both were delicious, the bread the sandwich was on was clearly very fresh and it was perfect. I did get a coffee as well while I was there and would probably skip next time - the coffee was more than my meal at around $6. There are multiple locations of Sobao around San Juan and I tired 2.
