Cool spot in an old church with plenty of seating, service was fast. The pancakes are so fluffy, still thinking about them!

'Ello chaps! Brisbane Airport (BNE) is really the only commercial airport in South East Queensland, but offers various domestic and international options. This includes flights by Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Air New Zealand. Even saw international carriers like Air Canada and China Air. Both the domestic and international terminals feel modern, up to date, and comfortable. They're also easy to get around with plenty of signage clearly displaying where to go. There seem to be an abundance of small cafes and gift shops. Overall I give Brisbane Airport four stars out of five.

Short straight walk from the Oaks Charlotte Tower. It looks inconspicuous from the outside but when you get inside, you will give a wow! Super tall ceiling, this was an old church, and they converted it to an eatery. The staffs are friendly and attentive and the menu has a varied selection of pancake stacks and different choices. I had attached only what I was aiming for and the menu does run a little longer that what you see here. Go to Pancakes Manor to experience the menu ;) The pancakes arrived fluffy and slightly salted accompanied by generous serving of scrambled eggs, maple syrup and whipped butter. The maple syrup topping with the whipped butter made the slightly salted pancakes a superb treat in the mouth! Soft.. fluffy... yummy!!! Follow that with the eggs and you will be transported back to your kiddy past!! I felt that way... Do drop by if you are around the corner anytime ... oh yeah... it's 24 hrs... for all that craving!!!

It's a pancake house nothing fancy but the food is fine. The inside looks like a castle. Service was prompt, food reasonably priced, you should try it. Lots of suits of armor adds to a cool vibe.

The waffles were great, the coffee was fresh and hot. This was our 1st stop in Austria and we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast.

The decor is very appropriate for both the area and for the W brand, servers are young and a little overbearing (probably due to inexperience?), and the kitchen, while mostly good, is also occasionally prone to bouts of slowness. Prawns and oysters off the chilled menu are both quite traditional; solid items but one might have expected them to take a few more risks here. On the other hand, W is a huge brand so maybe they're risk-adverse? And the swordfish main course was recommend medium rare but again otherwise not particularly innovative. And to be fair, sticking with the seafood, per the recommendation of all the servers, may have been a mistake on my part. The porchetta and I think the lamb (?) both sounded amazing, but I ended up skipping those. At least the seafood, for a nice place, was very reasonably priced. 3* sounds right. Don't be off-put by the rating, there's potential...

The open aspect of the design made full use of the space and capitalises on the beautiful weather Queenslanders enjoy. Signage is scarce when finding the place and parking is also tough. I'd recommend turning in to the hotel driveway and parking in their car park. Of course this is ticketed so you will need to pay. Good news is you don't have to be a guest to use the car park so you can drive straight in and take a ticket. The restaurant is spacious and open plan. It is welcoming and certainly the decor is modern and interesting by design. One small complaint, being of mature age I appreciate a comfortable and padded chair when out for dinner and the chair I had was neither. After a couple of hours my backside was needing a break! Anyway, the menu is limited but diverse. All the dishes were interesting and appealing. I had the only steak on the menu which was a 500 gram t-bone. I was in a party of eight so two others ordered the t-bone... in total two medium and one rare. Others in the party ordered fish, bugs and chicken. We also ordered some starters which was a sweet potato hummus and a fava bean and anchovy dip. Bread was an organic sourdough with cultured butter. All were delicious. Mains arrived all at once which is a real necessity in my books however the waiter could not identify which of the three steaks was the rare one. He simply placed one down in front of the person who ordered it and said "that should be it". One diner received an incorrect meal which was promptly returned to the kitchen and replaced with the correct one. No real drama, these things can happen. All diners enjoyed their meals with no complaints whatsoever. The portions were generous and all were visually appealing. My steak was delicious., cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. The meals don't come with sides so we ordered a mix of different dishes including asparagus, roasted garlic and rosemary potatoes and carrots. All were delicious. In terms of drinks the beer and wine lists were extensive and well represented. Service was efficient and slightly ambiguous. Whilst everyone was pleasant I didn't see anyone smile or engaging in terms of recommendations when requested. In all, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a slightly upmarket but relaxing atmosphere with great views, excellent food and a very good list of wines and beers.

The baristas are exceptionally skilled, and there is a selection of roasts to choose from. While I normally like my coffee black, something that isn't too hard to make, I've had a few flat whites from Penny which have been excellent. A friend of mine asked if they're able to pull a piccolo using soy milk, without the milk splitting. Despite indicating that the barista don't need to try if they haven't made one before, they produced one (after two failed attempts) by slowly adjusting the extraction to the point where they could add a shot to soy milk without producing soy cheese. Doing this despite explicitly not needing to is the sort of above and beyond that earns long-term customers. The food is similarly stellar. The avo on sourdough may at first blush seem like a pricier version of what everyone else is doing. The flavours in Penny's version are, however, inventive and balanced to a point I haven't had elsewhere. There's a nice balance between the feta, dukkah and pomegranate where you can taste all of them without one overpowering the other. The vegetabowl is similarly great. There's just enough of each ingredient that you can taste them, without the dish being overpowered by one note. Penny's interior makes maximal use of the space. There are comfortably sized tables out front and inside, and some bar seating by the espresso machine. The best seats in the house, though, are out back, and include a few longer tables. The staff at Penny are attentive, friendly and great at pulling a coffee and making food.

They were showing off a few items on their menu and gorgeous cocktail creations. My favorite was the rum punch. It is refreshing and before you know it, you need a refill. The food was incredible. Wagyu beef sliders with guacamole. Yes! I also loved the croquettes they were serving. For desert, the brought out brownies bites and strawberry tarts. I could have had a whole tray of strawberry tarts. The staff were SO nice!!! Even with so much going on and trying to keep up with the demands, the made sure you had a drink in your hand and you were having a great time. This made a great impression on me. I haven't been to the area so that made it even more appealing to come back. If this is just the preview of what kind of food and drink Chester B&B will serve, I will definitely be making the trek back real soon and bringing my friends!

Seemingly as soon as they store opened under the hands of Damien Griffith, it shut for a little face-lift. While locals have been enjoying the fruits of a pop-up bakery while the renos were underway, the curtains were finally lifted this week in a series of test kitchen dinners and finally the grand re-opening on Friday. I was fortunate enough to attend one of the test kitchens (as a guest of the venue), and being on a table with other food bloggers meant we were able to sample almost 80% of the menu. From bar bites including a wagyu burger (my favourite), braised leek & bacon croquettes, fresh gravlax, creamy hummus with spiced lamb (which could have come with more than one slice of bread given the ample serving of hummus - it easily fed 6 of us), and a duck and mushroom pie (for the price, myself and others on the night agreed it could come with more of a ploughman's plate arrangement. The duck was moist and the side of pear chutney complimented it well). There's mains like the grilled barramundi (not amazing and a little dry in parts) or the lamb (this was the hero dish from everyone at the table). And, if there was still any room left there's a range of desserts by Jocelyn Hancock including my personal favourite the chocolate and almond cake with espresso creme fraiche. There's also a passionfruit tart, deconstructed eton mess and citrus cake. The space is beautifully simple with white subway tiles leaving way for the main attraction; the wood fired oven. Bakery by day, bar by night, this concept as are many born from Damien Griffith, is an ambitious one. But, if there's anyone in Brisbane to make it work it's this guy. It's novel to think that the same spot that can provide you a fresh loaf of ciabatta or sourdough at 7am can be feeding you delicious meals (either constructing a meal from the bar bites and sharing amongst a group or taking advantage of a main to yourself) and cocktails (try the Aperol Peach Spritz for a Summer refresher) at 7pm in the same day. I think this venue's versatility, location just a hop, skip and jump from James Street and combination of accessible fuss-free food with a focus on premium ingredients gives it an edge as the new "hot spot" in the area.
