Our hotel breakfast for our team wasn't good, so we made a last minute decision to run to Panera to feed our team. When we got there , the manager gave us attitude about getting so much stuff. While in the area and seeking a warm place for decent coffee and a morning treat, we stopped into this Panera. The restaurant was clean, except the men's room which had a "40 oz" bottle in the middle of the floor. the staff was friendly. The coffee was the typical, Panera blends, which were nice. The bagels we ordered were good. I wanted one plain bagel toasted with butter and they run it through a conveyor belt style toaster which might have been set to a very fast speed, because it hardly resembled being toasted when I got it and I ended up getting two pats of hard, cold butter, which didn't even melt because there was no heat to the toaster. They should use soft butter in the back when buttering a toasted bagel and butter it back there as well. Overall, if in the area, it's a nice place to stop. read more

im a fan of this panera! i love the quality of the food they provide love the chai latte here i had their quiche which was great and also bagel wich (with avocado and spinach) which was excellent counter service was great, no issue parking lot has lots of space ambiance, they have places to sit in and outside. i liked the outdoor seating personally overall, great place for a light quick breakfast. i would happily come here any time! read more

Love Panera, but this location is always dirty. If the part of the restaurant you can see is dirty, you can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. The tables are often not wiped down there are crumbs and debris all over the floor. At the time of this last visit the soda machine was down and they had a big bucket of ice for people to serve themselves with a scoop. Needless to say I didn't have ice that day. Who knows how many hands have been in that bucket and the scoop was left inside to contaminate the rest of the ice. Also the avocado on my sandwich was brown. No thanks! read more

Our carpool crew knew we'd have to sacrifice quality in order to get a meal on the go, but let's just say I chose poorly when my ride entered a strip mall with several fast food-esque options. I've never been to a Panera before, so I can't compare this franchise to others. Pluses: clean, lots of seating, friendly folks behind the counter. Cons: actual food and inability to stick to the order. Blame it on the NY roots, but cinnamon raisin bagels and lox not being options are strikes 1 and 2 here. They have cinnamon crunch bagels, which looked, well, like a hybrid between a cheeseburger and a donut. Shorty don't play (or eat) that. Still, I can roll with limited menu punches: a whole grain bagel with cream cheese and tomato, please. Plus a fruitcup. 10 Minutes Later: one whole grain bagel, no tomato. I cringe and lean back in front of the 12-person line whispering, "Um, did I forget to ask for tomato, ma'am?" "Oops! No, I forgot it. Sorry." Silence. Moving on to next customer. Head. Hurts. Maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and maybe I should have kept it simple, but this situation seemed easy enough to remedy and the fact that no solution was offered did me in. Walked out too annoyed to wait in line for the silly slice o' tomato and salivated over everyone else's Boston Market sandwiches while I picked at my poor bagel. This is a good place to study. The food is consistent, but you have to order right. Their sandwiches are delicious. When I ordered soup last time, however, it was served at room temperature. Apparently they had "just added a new can to the pot, and it hadn't had enough time to heat through." I was given a new bowl, so that's good. It's a hearty and inexpensive meal plus a place to work. It's Panera - the food is better than most chains, especially the bread. This will be more of a review of the location. Located in the why-is-this-so-busy shopping center, this is one of the better Panera Bread I've been to. Free Wi-Fi and plenty of seating, and it always seems to be crowded with students. Cashiers are good and the food is out quick - I've never had a problem with waiting too long or quality. There's also outdoor seating which is right next to the outdoor seating of Five Guys, which I have no doubt leads to many Sharks vs. Jets eating situations. The only negative isn't Panera's fault - the parking lot is always mysteriously full of cars (where are all of these people coming from? Certainly not Charlottesville...and don't get me started on the traffic) so parking may be a challenge. Overall, not a bad location. read more

I want to give them 4 stars because of the awesome, friendly staff but what I ordered today was just bad. I got a Thai chicken flatbread and it was drowning in sauce and had barely any chicken in it. It's also over-priced for what they give you. On other occasions I just stuck with what I knew and was satisfied. But today's flatbread just did not hit the spot. Hopefully I can update my review when I return and order something different! I did study here today and it was a nice place to do so! I was very disappointed visiting this Panera location today. Ordered a bagel and flavored cream cheese, and wasn't told until after ordering that they were out of every flavor of cream cheese, despite the fact that I paid for cream cheese. All they could offer me was non-Panera brand fat free plain cream cheese? Would have been nice to know before ordering. "Toasted" bagel was also barely toasted and cold upon arrival to my table. I'll start by saying that most of my experiences at Panera have been great. The food is fresh and the staff are generally pretty friendly. I got to Panera at 10:50, 10 minutes before they stopped serving breakfast on the weekend. The line was pretty long so I used the kiosk self order. The machine wasn't working properly so I went to the cashier. I ordered a ham egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and two bagels. The girl had a poor attitude and told me they were done serving breakfast at 11. It was 11:02. I explained to her that I had been trying to order on the kiosk for the past few minutes but it wouldn't work. All I wanted was to add egg to a basic ham and cheddar sandwich. She said they couldn't and had a piss poor attitude. She never even checked with anyone else to see if they could do it. I told her that I'd just get a ham and cheese with avocado. Nothing else, just bread, ham, cheese and avocado. At this time there was only 1 other order waiting for their food and it took almost 15 minutes to get my order. I was in a hurry, so I grabbed my food and left. When I got home I realized they put a ton of tomato on my sandwich and my bagels were burnt. This was a poor experience and I won't be going to this location again. 2 stars only because Panera is usually on their game. read more

I've had more Panera this summer than I've had in my entire life. This Panera is right around the corner from my job so we frequent this spot for lunch a lot. The service is always amazing and it stays pretty clean. I have never received an incorrect order and they are extremely kind and accommodating when I ask 1000 questions or modify my meal to meet my dietary needs. read more

Don't bother contacting customer service about a problem with an order they won't do anything my sandwich was an embarrassment and I can't believe they served it. I just had surgery so obviously I can't walk or drive at the moment so I ordered online cause I was craving my favorite sandwich. It got to my house and I opened it and someone ripped the top breads middle completely out you can see a thumb print in the glob of avocado just dropped on. Not really a complainer but I felt a little ripped off so I contacted the customer service and they told me I'd have to walk into the store to even ask the store for a replacement or refund that customer service doesn't handle that. Called the store explaining I can't walk in I just had a major surgery and they told me there was nothing they can do about it. Way to be considerate to your customers, best believe I would of took it back to the store if I could of. Nice layout and decor. The cleanliness of the empty tables sorely needed attention. With 3 girls at the register and no customers ordering, why not have one of them do a walk around every so often? Staff was a mix of friendly and not so friendly. I like that the background music is low enough to not be distracting. I had a lot of difficulty connecting to their wifi. Rebooting my laptop did the trick. The drink and pastry were very good. Nice outdoor seating area too if that's your thing. read more

Used to go all the time as I am very fond of the panera menu. Service is the problem. I started taking advantage of the "order from table" option because I don't have to deal with juggling my toddler while picking up the food. One day I put in the order and they just yell my table number for me to come to pick up the food. I ignored it, thinking they would bring the food. The lady at the counter came to my table and just told me to go pick it up. I sent an email to panera corporate and they aologized. The next time I went they told me I couldn't order regular sandwiches in the morning. I have never had a problem with this for the past 5 years I've been coming to all the paneras in charlottesvillle and in other places before that. Just like that, they lost my business. French onion soup in a bred bowl - as always, and as always, yummy and quick to be served. When I say quick, I mean, my food was ready before I even got my drink, they were calling me already. Extra points for that. This time I decided to order something other than the BLT with it, so I tried the roasted turkey & caramelized kale panini. Man, it was yummy!! There's a growing trend nationwide where minority workers in grocery stores and restaurants discriminate against white people, especially single white men. It's subtle but effective. Here, I experienced a minority worker open a cash register to ring up a sale for a young white couple only to close it abruptly when some white guy came up to the counter. He was told to go over to the long line of customers waiting at another register. Within two minutes, the worker opened the register again to accomodate an elderly woman who came by. Unbelievable! This is bad for business. I won't frequent this Panera Bread. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Probably the worst case of customer service ever received from a place that makes food for quick pick up. I gave 4 hours notice for a very easy lunch for 5 people, I got a rude call from them stating they cannot fulfill the order, even for pickup. Then subsequent messages from them to never call the store again, after I questioned why they could not make 5 sandwiches within a 4 hour time period. Well, you've heard the one about being "beautiful, but having no taste." This is the Mother Church of that Saying. I ate there the day they were having a Staff Meeting and closing early and most of the pleasant Staff were dreading the impending meeting. That surely might have been the reason that there was NO TASTE or difference in the Ceasar Salad, Corn Chowder, Napa Grape Chicken Salad or so-called Clam Chowder! Taste tests occupied my Companion's and my entire meal. NO DIFFERENCES WHAT SO EVER! Even the Sweet Tea was TOTALLY TASTELESS. So sad that this is/was the case. The Manager or District or Corporate needs a Taste Tester if this sad place if it is to ever serve anyone but Hungry, budget ruled Students. SAD! read more

It has been a terrible experience, not only in this particular restaurant with terrible cold and disgusting food (Pictures provided to Panera's corporate), but no one from the restaurant reached out to chat with me about it. My food and request for a refund took from February 16 until this week to finally get resolved. No one contacted me and I had to keep reaching out to get answers on the status of my refund. I was passed to different employees with statements such as; "such and such asked if I could take over the case cause I am able to obtain quicker updates from the refund team". However, they did no better and then I was passed to someone else, all without resolve. Throughout this ordeal, there are very true signs of poor customer service and in times like this with the environment that we have dealt with over the past year, you would think that someone would be all over this to ensure the customer is satisfied. That has not been the case. No one seemed to really care and for me it ended up not about the small refund of $20, but more of the principal in the end. I will never go to a Panera's restaurant again, especially this one, and I am posting this to make sure others are aware of poor service and terrible customer service from the restaurant and Panera's customer service personnel. read more

The customer service here is ok. My complaint is not about that rather it's in the inefficiency of the entire phone in option. If one calls in at any other Panera there is a separate cashier for this option and the food is normally waiting on you to pickup. This location however, is not the case. To pay you will have to stand in the line as everyone else to pay and you will have to wait on your food as well. Someone please explain to me the common sense to this all. This is a rather inefficient way to conduct an option that is normally effective for those individuals in a hurry. I'm definitely not coming to this location again. Food is great tasting and staff is friendly , my issue is however I pay more at a place like this expecting healthier food. I get the ingredients may be better but if research and see the nutritional facts on most foods and drinks your really not doing way better then the main burger and fast food joints. The incompetency of this business boggles my mind. I went online to place an order and it was only showing options for delivery for tomorrow. So, I decided to call to place my order. The first time I called, it rang through and no one answered. The second time, I was told that I cannot order delivery over the phone. I was then told that it was only showing times for tomorrow since delivery shuts off at 7:30. Mind you, this was at 6:30. I asked the man on the phone if that meant that I just couldn't order from Panera at all (I'm at college without a car) and he said yes. It's like all Panera Breads. This one can be a little slow and the soup just does not seem as hot as it could be. I must be loosing my taste buds or their chicken noodle soup has lost some flavor and my eyes must be getting bad because the sandwiches seem to be getting smaller. The soda is well made. PArking can be real hard to get at this mall. If you're going there just for the food, and 15 minutes to your time. If you're there for shoping and you get hungry, this is a good choice. read more

Let me start off by saying that I love Panera, but I am not a fan of this location. I've been to this location several times for breakfast and lunch, and the customer engagement experience is lacking. One time the associate working the register placed my order incorrectly, and when I went to make the appropriate changes, the sales associate had an attitude and insisted she did not process the wrong order on her end and instead said that I misspoke. I found her uncompromising attitude to be distasteful and unprofessional. On a separate occasion, I went to this Panera location 10 minutes before they stopped serving breakfast sandwiches. When it was my turn to place an order and I said I wanted a breakfast sandwich, the associate literally laughed in my face. She then went to consult with the two staff members who were working the food line to ask if they would be willing to accommodate me. One of the workers said "It's 10:25, we stop serving breakfast soon," and she was loud enough for me to hear. In fact, I believe she intended for me to hear her nasty comment. I was disgusted. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this Panera location. I refuse to be mistreated in an establishment where I am spending my hard earned money. read more

My son and I were gifted with a $25 gift card to Panera. As a stay at home mom who cooks all of our meals, I was super excited to have lunch out. Unfortunately, after the staff and manager swiped my "fancy" gift card the kind that "never works" multiple times, I was left with no lunch and a $25 charge on the card that "couldn't" be refunded. There was no "sorry for the inconvenience" or any form of an apology from the staff. I've had 10 years of restaurant management experience. I would never let a mother and her infant son leave without lunch knowing my own actions caused the card error. We'll be back when you have new management at this location. read more
