My first time at Iron Paffles & Coffee, I opted to make my own combination: a gluten free waffle with eggs, steak, avocado, cheddar cheese, & siracha mayo (on the side). The waffle was perfect! (Didn't have a "gluten free" taste at all, if yk what I mean) It was super soft and fluffy as well. All together, I would rate the sandwich like a 6.5-7/10. It think it lacked seasoning as it was pretty bland in taste (even after adding the mayo). I also tried some ketchup and then syrup to see if that would give it more taste -- it helped slightly. Nonetheless, I would eat here again and maybe try one of their premade sandwiches or one of the sweeter options. read more

We stopped to grab sandwiches before getting on the train. The staff was rude unfortunately. My husband was in line to order and was unaware that you order via a tablet as it was our first time. The lady yelled at him to get out of line and he did but then saw the next person using the tablet so realizing that was what he was supposed to do the customers graciously let him back in to place his order. The inside was small and crowded. Once we got on the train and started to eat he said it was so good he was no longer mad the lady was rude lol so I guess that says something. It was all a bit heavy for me so not my favorite but he ate his and the other half of mine. read more

So blessed to have found a breakfast spot for vegans in Charlottesville! It's not an exclusively vegan spot but they have plenty of thoughtful vegan options. I got a "build your own" paffle breakfast sandwich with a tofu scramble and a s'mores latte. The whipped cream and marshmallow were vegan too! I'd be sure to request that though because I'm unsure if it comes naturally that way. The gal helping me knew I was vegan from our conversation so she made it that way for me. Staff were very kind and helpful in answering all of my "is this vegan" questions. Love that this place also proudly promotes diversity and inclusion. Always love this place! Pastries and waffles does ravel the cronut! The options of paffle sandwiches are just enough. Cold brews there are nice. Service is your neighborhood coffee shop so lovely. Ambience is bit neutral for me. Decor is actually cool but somehow the seating area feels a bit bland. A place I will go back all the time. Paffle: canola cream + banana, definitely a satisfying dessert, just so good. Canonla cream is right level of heaviness so not feeling too much. Ok, yes, go here. Husband and I were lucky enough to find this place during what they're calling "Veganuary" so we took it as a sign for us! I discovered this place after leaving the Charlottesville Farmer's Market. There is plenty of parking near the restaurant. The winner for me and my group of friends with this place is the non-pork options. They even have vegan and gluten-free options. So, we all were able to get something that fit our dietary needs. They also offer a great variety of drinks. They have lattes, espressos, hot chocolate, and tea. They have orange juice, water, and soft drinks. Lastly, they have mimosas. The bottom line: came back for a second time on a brief spring break--I'm writing this from one of the tables. Super, sweet and savory puff pastry waffles (a new take for me). Fried chicken was on crispy point, the house hot sauce had great zing, and the sweet fillings were balanced by hot black coffee. Serendipitously, our company failed in having enough to-go breakfasts this morning at the hotel, so I had to go searching on my way out of town. I'm glad I did though. FOOD: Tasty and an unexpected new-to-me item. The "paffle" is like a puff pastry in waffle shape, and the generous ingredients slammed in between really hit the spot. SERVICE: There is an option to order on the tablet, and then is picked up at the counter. So unobtrusive but they were very friendly and answered a few questions I had. PRICE: Not a steal for breakfast, but not exorbitant in the ridiculous inflationary year of our Lord 2025. One of the breakfast paffles is $11 I think. ATMOSPHERE: Comfy nook of a place. I had iron Paffles cater an event awhile ago and could not have made a better choice. I forgot to review so wanted to do so now. Their owner is the nicest and was so easy to work with! Their catering prices are so reasonable and their team was so accommodating and easy to work with. Everything was a total success. I love that iron has plenty of options for different diets. We had savory and sweet Paffles available for our event, and everyone from the meat eaters to the vegetarians to the vegans had something to eat that they enjoyed. It can be really hard to plan events that cover a ton of dietary restrictions in a way that doesn't leave the veg folks w just "veggie tray" but Paffles does a great job at making their vegan options delicious. Our group was thrilled with breakfast and this was a great catering experience all around. Definitely check them out if you're just in the area for a quick bite, but if you're looking for an awesome catering experience, Paffles is great. Highly recommend! read more

I love this place! I visit every time we come to the C'Ville area. The g-free paffles are so delicious. I tend to favor the savory paffles rather than the dessert versions, but you can't go wrong. I've tried making them at home, and they are complicated to make and to eat. LOL read more

Wow! I've walked by several times and finally stopped in. I was blown away. My paffle was delicious! I did the create your own option and got bacon and sausage with the siracha mayo. The mimosa was the perfect cure to a downtown induced hangover. The gingerbread latte was PERFECTION. It quite literally brought me back to life. I felt ready to tackle the farmers market. The service is ok. Not overly nice but I wonder if that is because you place your own order and there's not a lot of chances for customer interaction. I wanted to check out a water, but a young female employee was standing and said she was "super backed up" (there were only 4 people waiting on food and drinks and there were 4 employees working.) I've tried so many times to come here and will never come again. Your customer service is horrendous. The food was disgusting and immediately fell apart. This was the hardest meal I've ever eaten. I also went to the counter to ask for vegan aioli, as there was nothing in my sandwich, it was so dry. I got the third degree from your staff... "there's no aioli?? Are you sure there's no sauce?" Just kept questioning me like I'm crazy, then proceeds to tell me you all didn't even have vegan aioli...... how does that even make sense? The whole reason I chose the third option was the aioli and you didn't even have any, and then replaced it with... nothing. The ingredients were not fresh, there was rotten greens on my sandwich and the avocado was brown, both of which I had to pull off. We left and my husband was still so hungry, he's now eaten a second breakfast. Overall, I continue to be disappointed. How do you charge $3.50 for a side of mac and cheese that has no more than 5 bites? That's not a side, that's a tasting... a sample!? In three weeks I have been in here once and ordered delivery twice (due to my job it was not feasible to drive over). All orders have been perfect even with delivery delays. I will admit to having a preference for the fried chicken paffle option with hot honey, cheese grits and arugula - delicious! The breakfast option with egg was good and both the banana with nutella and blueberry compote with house made whipped cream did not disappoint. The pastry waffle is flaky and messy, but worth it. All of mine have been perfect. The person who was staffing the counter when I went in was super friendly - which combined with a darn good sandwich made me want to go back. You order via app or at a tiny counter with a sort of college-deli-gas-station-lotto-ticket-purchase vibe. We got one sweet and one savory, one gluten free, one regular. Both waffles were just a flaccid bun substitute. The sweet gluten-free waffle was dry, without enough fillings to balance it, and the savory waffle was a mess to eat and unexciting. It was empty when we were there at lunchtime. I'm willing to allow that maybe there are delicious options there and we just didn't get them, but for me, there's more reliable delicious options just steps away. read more

Ordering was by console, and there apparently isn't a lunch rush because I was out of there in five minutes. The titular food item is a flaky croissant-like creation. It has the shape of a waffle, but disintegrates in a rather messy way. The Nutella and banana combo I got certainly delivered on the fillings; that was a ton of Nutella. I also got a peppermint hot chocolate, which I got with almond milk but which nonetheless came with whipped cream. I'm not dairy-free, but if you are you'll want to specify that, which their system does give you an abundance of opportunity to do. Indeed, many special dietary needs can be catered to on their menu. Stopped here for brunch with friends after visiting the farmers market. The shop has a casual, urban, and industrial atmosphere inside. We tried the Fried Chicken, The Choriz, and Veggie-Iron Paffles. I also tried the Iced Minted Lavender Tea. I didn't like the tea. It had a nice green color, but it was too minty and tasted like iced mint mouthwash to me. The Paffles that we tried were tasty. The Choriz was our favorite and I would get it again. It was flavorful and each bite had a nice creamy texture. The Fried Chicken and Veggie-iron were good but not amazing. The fried chicken was average and not the best fried chicken I've ever had in a sandwich. I was also not a fan of the grits in it and felt like something better could have been added instead to give the sandwich more flavor and a better texture. However, I liked the maple syrup and thought it brought the chicken and Paffle elements of the sandwich together well. The Veggie-Iron was tasty, but I would have preferred tofu pieces instead of scrambled tofu. Overall, I thought Iron Paffles was good but not amazing. I was not a fan of how flaky and disintegrable the Paffles were-- they were a mess to eat and clean up. I also would have liked them to be slightly closer in texture to an actual waffle.
