Ron's Mobile Auto Repair - So easy working at our house!

    Ron's Mobile Auto Repair

    (35 reviews)

Warning! Stay away from this business!…read more This business is a joke when it comes to timeliness and competency. And I'm not just getting on here to complain. I've been a Yelp Elite for 10 years and have over 900 reviews. I called Ron around 9:45 PM when our serpentine belt broke near our Condo. Ron answered and said even though he was not available, he would send his right hand man there and he'd be there at 8AM sharp. I sent the car model/VIN so they could get the parts asap before heading our way. Great, I thought! The reviews were right. Now this is where things stopped. I called at 8. I called at 9. I called at 10. Ron's so called "right hand" wouldn't answer my calls or texts. I kept calling Ron and he kept assuring me that the guy was going to show up. 11 o'clock no answer. 12 o'clock no answer. 1 o'clock no answer. 2 o'clock. He finally answered the phone and said he would be on his way shortly. The guy finally showed up at around 3:15 PM to work on the car. We had spent the entire day waiting for him to show up instead of enjoying our last vacation last day of vacation. Little did we know this was just the beginning of all of the issues we would have with the car. It was the serpentine belt. But when the guy went to lift the car, he jacked up our Honda pilot via the oil pan. Anyone with a brain would know that an aluminum pan is not going to hold the weight of a car. This immediately resulted in oil spilling out of our car. He was unable to find a replacement pan for us so he had to use some sort of epoxy sealant to seal the crack that was in the oil pan and we kept our fingers crossed that we would get home ok. There was no apology for this added damage to our vehicle and there was no Compensation for the damage they caused. And when we got home, we had to spend almost $800 getting the oil pan replaced because of the incompetence of this company. This company is a sham and takes advantage of people who are out of town and needing their vehicle fixed in a timely manner. He charged us $500 to replace the serpentine belt. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I asked him for an estimate before buying the parts, but he didn't offer one. When he got to our house to start I asked again for an estimate, to which he replied "I'll be fair ". When the job was done, 3 hours later he asked for $400. I was shocked, but paid him anyway. That's about 135/ hr. In my view, that's a lousy way to do business-especially when dealing with a repeat customer.

I had my car towed to Gil's and called them to explain what had happened before getting towed. I was told they might not be able to get to it until the following day. Gil met me after we arrived and the mechanics were able to get my car out of "P" when offloading it from the tow truck and made a quick assessment of the problem. I was asked if I needed a ride anywhere, but my wife was 15 minutes away. They called me when the repair was complete, sooner than the expected date, and at a reasonable repair cost. When I asked about the repair cost, the receptionist reminded me there was a 4% add-on charge for Credit/Debit card use. This is also displayed at the window. I would recommend cash payments for very costly repairs. When I picked up the car, I was shown the part that caused the problem and they explained the repair. They also told me to bring it back if there were any issues. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I recommend Gil's Auto Medic to anyone needing car repairs. Though it is an hour away, I will return for future car repairs.

They said that the brakes were bad and that they replaced the pads and rotors without our permission or knowledge and then charged us for the additional work. Then they got mad when we told them to undo the work as the brakes have been working fine. This got the bill down to $800 which is still a huge amount. DO NOT take your vehicle here. These people are crooks and will scam anyone unfortunate enough to cross their path. Avoid this establishment at all costs.

And they told me just for the tow alone was over $600. Not including all his B.S. fees. Completely rude over the phone and didn't give the information of them not taking cards and only cash. So of course I was pissed off driving over an hour to Chipley from Freeport to be told I have to go back out to an ATM and call my bank to up the daily spending limit. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. Not enough? They told us if we didn't make it back by 5 we would have to wait till tomorrow so they could charge a whole other day. Made it back at exactly 5. Gave them the total of $740 to just get the car back and when the man brought it up front. Driver side window was shattered and there were glass pieces all of the interior. And they had even stole the charger I had in the center consol? I mean is this not illegal???They are complete crooks and will inconvenience the hell out of you. NEVER GO HERE.
