LOVE, LOVE, LOVED! First of all let me start off by saying I have always wanted to take a helicopter ride over the shoreline to see how many and how close the sharks really are. They offer many different types of tours but we opted for the 15 min Shark Tour. From the moment you step in the door the staff really gets you excited for the ride. One of the guys saw we had a camera (Cannon 60D) and had us take it out of the case. Apparently he takes a lot of photos form the helicopters and was explaining what lens and settings work best. Then he cautioned us not to spend the tour behind a lens, which is something I am guilty of so I'm glad he said something. Jasmine was our pilot and she was nothing short of awesome. When we told her this was #1 on my bucket list and you could tell she was really stoked to hear that. Jasmine was very informed on the marine life that we saw. She could tell us the approximate size and weight of all the sharks we saw. . . and we saw a lot. I of course was full of all kinds of questions and she had a detailed answer for everything. I was really taken back by all the bull sharks we saw. . . swimmers beware, they are closer than you think, lol! We also saw nursing sharks, stingrays and a large pod of dolphins. For about $120 two of us had the most fun! Anyone, seasoned pilot or first time flyer would enjoy the view 500 feet up over where the ocean meets the land. You won't be disappointed with all the photo ops. Short but such a great lil adventure. I recommend earlier in the day when the suns position really enhances the contrast & the colors just pop. Great experience! Came in for a flight with my boyfriend. Paid $55 each and had a smooth sunset helicopter ride showing the ocean and buildings. Everyone was extremely nice and it wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. So glad to have found this place. Will definitely come back another time for one of their longer flights. Our flight with Panhandle Helicopters was amazing. We flew over the Outer Banks coast and saw a lot of sea life. The pilot also did some amazing tricks and stunts with us. He took us down the cost and we were even able to wave to our family members at our beach front house. The pilot was definitely highly skilled and kept us safe. My husband and I were looking forward to booking a helicopter ride since we are in PCB for our anniversary. We walked in with our masks on in compliance with the local ordinances. There were 16 people inside an incredibly small space including at least 8 children. Not only were none of them wearing masks but neither where any of the employees. We were incredibly disappointed and chose to leave as we did not feel like our safety was a priority despite verbiage on the website saying that they are practicing Covid-19 safety protocols. read more

If you're looking for a fun alternative to being in the ocean, I recommend flying over it with this business! The views are beautiful and the staff here were all so kind and helpful! I'm always super nervous before any sort of flight, but as soon as I got into the helicopter I felt super safe. Regardless of which flight you choose (there are sooo many options!) it is totally worth the money. We saw sea turtles, manatees and stingrays - all animals that we couldn't have seen unless we swam all the way out. They even let my boyfriend ride up front with the door off so he could film! I cannot recommend this place enough. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to PCB! read more

the 10 minute ride was great, the pilot was awesome! unfortunately not worth waiting 5 hours for. we were originally told 3 hours, which was fine, we left burned some time at the near by pier/pier park. after returning, to then be told it's a longer wait. we decided to linger there, there isn't much waiting space. i could tell the girls working were stressed and managing customers the best they could. props to them, i'd suggest a better system than they have. read more

Everything about this place is awesome! My girlfriend and I went on a sunset flight and the views were amazing! The female pilot we had was great, she couldn't have more friendly. This is a must do activity if you go to pcb! My mom (69yo) has never ridden in a helicopter before and she was the one actually asking to do it. She loved it and I was amazed. WHAT A JOKE! such rude and poor service at the front end. After making a reservation the day before for the breakfast tour and even calling multiple times during the day to confirm and see what they thought about the weather, we got there and were told multiple different things from different people and ended up going to the shortest and. Went on the shark tour and saw maybe a little shark and you would think to go down and see it closer but nope. weather wasn't even bad. it wasn't even a 6 min flight. "shark tour" even the pilot said it should be the "west tour". Paid way too much for a 6 minute helicopter ride where we saw nothing and were given no discount for having to wait around while they decided what to do with us. I 100% wouldn't have any issue with this place if they were straight with me but they hype it up so much and it just isn't worth it. I took my best's friends 17 year old son on his first helicopter ride. We did the Shell Island trip and it was well worth the money. We saw sharks and rays easily since we flew at 300 feet. I felt totally safe and secure. Everyone wears a headset so you can communicate with each other and listen to the pilot talk to local air traffic. I forgot to take any videos or photos but your view is totally unobstructed. I'd definitely do this again. Our pilot was an ex Marine helicopter mechanic who has only been here three weeks. He was well informed about the sea life that we saw. Totally smooth ride. I'd give Panhandle Helicopters 10 stars if I could. read more

I really love how detailed the website was before I booked this. Once booked, the place was easy to find and had free parking (just read your voucher). I really appreciated that there wasn't a set appt time and it's first come, first serve. Traffic has not been great while we have been here and we've almost missed a few tours, so this was AWESOME and the wait time was only about 20 mins when we got there at 10:15am. The guy at the desk, Will, was super friendly and easy to talk to about the tours and everything about PCB. You WILL be weighed when you check in, that's not a joke. Once we got walked out to the helio pad, we were able to take pics and our pilot, Wes was a doll. On our flight we saw a HUGE pod of dolphins (like 15 dolphins), some cow nosed rays, a shipwreck that had washed up, schools of fish, sea turtles and more! It was seriously the best tour I've ever been on and our pilot answered all our questions, even the dumb ones, with a smile! Do this tour! Don't even hesitate! And be flexible because the wind and weather play a huge factor. We actually rescheduled our trip a few different days because of the wind but it was worth the wait for sure!
