My first escape room experience, which I found to be about the right amount of challenging as our group did the Arkham Asylum room. I liked many things about this spot like the parking wasn't too difficult, the attendant was very nice and helpful, and the overall quality of the room I thought was good. There was a considerably amount of red herrings here that prevented the room from being solved too quickly - definitely promoting better communication and teamwork, and great attention to detail in order to successfully solve the rooms. I liked the wide variety of different puzzles available and the vastly different feel to each room. Overall, fun experience and although not cheap -- I feel the effort put into designing the room justifies the cost. I would do more experiences here again in the future with more friends. read more

I went to Panic Escape Room with some friends and had a fun time. I didn't know what to expect going in. When we arrived they played a video explaining that you shouldn't break things. Then we entered the escape room to play the game. We had no explanation and barely got an introduction video. The escape room itself was fun. I won't describe it so I won't give anything away but we had a fun. We did not escape, and were not really close to escaping but it was a great team activity for our group. I recommend Panic Escape Room. read more

Cool spot. My best friend loves escape rooms so we decided to hit this one up to try the alien room. I enjoyed this room as a group of 5. I felt that the puzzles were good because it kept the whole group engaged. We booked in the morning for a room available that afternoon. It's in the back of the building if that helps you find the location. read more

Let me start by saying we have done a TON of escape rooms and experiences. This was our first time at Panic Escape rooms. Collectively we decided on the Conjuring escape room. Our lovely host was Cameron and she was so absolutely amazing!!! This room was so fun and there was jump scares so it did not disappoint !!! Cameron was so kind enough to ask if we wanted jump a scares or not so we thought that was so thoughtful. This group of escape rooms are themed to movies which we love. They have everything from the conjuring to saw, to the matrix and even Harry Potter. Needless to say we are coming back panic escape rooms because we are going to try every single one of them. Can't give too much info without giving clues but we overall had a great time! The game was fun and clues were good. The only reason I docked a star is because twice when we asked for a hint we got a hint of something we'd already figured out but didn't know how to use. For example if we had a 4 digit code we had the code but didn't know where to use it and when we asked for a hint they'd tell us how to get the code not where to use it. My friends and I came here for a "lost arcade" escape room. Upon arrival, we were instructed to see a video which went through how the locks the worked and what to do/what not to do (ie. things to know so we don't break any equipment). After the video, we were guided to the Escape Room while some of our group went to the washroom. The minute that we stepped into the escape room, the timer started even though our whole party was not present and we did not receive any additional guidance although the staff said he would be back with the rest of our party. We had some first timers in our group so more guidance would have been helpful or even informing us when the timer started as we were initally lost and thought it'd start when everyone was present. Make sure to use the restroom upon arrival so you don't run into the same issue as us. The room itself was interesting and brought back memories of video games I used to play when I was younger. The clues weren't too clear but we managed to resolve them one by one. We did run a little short on time at the end but I think they gave us a little time back because not everyone was present when the timer started (& none of us started until everyone was present) so technically we had not started when the timer actually started. Glad that we didn't lose the time of waiting for everyone to be present. We were able to make it out "escape" within the time given. The rooms are pretty dark and small so maybe not ideal for those who are claustrophobic, can't handle darkness/small rooms/don't have the brst night vision etc. Overall, everyone enjoyed the experience (especially those that haven't tried an escape room before). read more

Came on the invite of a friend who had a Groupon that was about to expire, from what it sounded like it didn't seem like there were any issues booking, but honestly I just showed up and had a good time. The website says they do not take walk-ins and you have to book at least an hour in advance which makes sense as I'm sure they have to make sure the room is set up properly. We did the Cold Case Files: Amnesia room which was a lot of fun. There were a lot of puzzles, unique and overall very creative, they did a great job creating the feel of a crime scene. They also do a great job of throwing in a few things you don't need around. They provide a little overall intro video at the start and you sign an online waiver. They then take you to the room where the real fun begins. For our room we had one hour to complete, and if you get stuck you have 3 clues you can use. We ended up using 2 of the clues and were able to finish the room! I'm not sure how they knew what we had found or not they must have been keeping a pretty close eye and it seemed like they had several other rooms going on at the same time. Overall a pretty fun time! If you like puzzles definitely give it a try! read more

Rating Arkans Asylum: The room was rated the most difficult but annoyingly it's not... The whole room is just "hard" because there are locks placed EVERYWHERE. You don't even know where to begin. All your clues are spread throughout all the rooms, so you constantly need to go back and forth between rooms even if you thought you were done with them. They recommend that you have at least 4 players however given that all the clues are sequential having additional players would not help it just makes for more cluttering. Additionally, either the clue was itself broken or SO poorly placed next to another lockbox as to imply that they were related when they were not. Lastly, what could've been a really cool theme was very poorly executed as they just used plastic bottles for decoration and batman plush batman toys throughout the room. Sad i wasted my money on this experience. read more

My friends and I have done many escape rooms, and Panic Escape Room of Hoffman Estates definitely fits in the decent escape room category. We've done several at this location- I thought the Ready Player One room was meh, but I absolutely loved the Harry Potter-themed room which is one of their newest ones. I think this would be a tough place to go as your 1st escape room because sometimes the puzzles don't work perfectly and the attendants are decent- but as an experienced escape room person I find the games here quite fun. If you are a Harry Potter fan I think that is a great escape room! read more

Panic Escape Rooms as a chain are JANKY and often things don't work as they should, BUT the rooms are very fun. We got a code right for a door, BUT the door was jammed. Over 10-15 minutes I tried to relay that information to the attendent, but they didn't come in for a while, then he just opened the door for us. BUT extra should've been added as it was not the fault of the players that the game wasn't functioning properly. And another piece that was crucial got stuck and lost in an area that coudn't be accessed, which prevented us from finishing the game. I like Panic Escape Room's themes, but definitely when things don't work properly it's a dissappointment. Still fun to do rooms like The Lost Arcade, which are great for ANY fan of video games in general, not just arcades read more

We actually had a full group last year that went and had a good time so I decided to book again just recently. I found a deal through Groupon for the Hoffman Estates location and it was CLEARLY posted on the groupon advertisement. I purchased the Groupon and then tried to book my event. However, I was very disappointed that they refused to honor my Groupon because they claimed it was a mistake that Groupon made about the location. The gentleman I spoke to even saw the Groupon listed at the Hoffman Estates location and admitted that to me but told me that the business owner won't honor it and that I would have to contact Groupon to work it out. As a customer I do not agree with how this was handled. They should have honored this Groupon. I obviously had to go back and cancel my order which will take 10 business days to process back to my account. I have now moved my business to a different escape room and will no longer consider Panic Room for future events NOR will I recommend it to any of my friends and family. My advice is be careful and really make sure they are clear on any discounts and deals ahead of time, they may just change their mind or decide to not allow them. OR maybe just find a more reliable escape room in your area. read more

We love that they're movie based and the theming is top notch. The most recent one we did was BeetleJuice: Escape the Afterlife. This game opened the day before so there is always going to be quirks and things to still figure out. They were having issues with their sound system so the music was very loud in the last room. Our oldest son is Autistic so the loudness in the last room made it overstimulating for him. It also made it hard for us to hear the clues being delivered and them to hearing us ask for a clue. read more
