We don't get pizza often, and we get Papa Johns even less than that (they had a deal today because of the Rangers game, so we decided to give them another try). I never walk away from a PJs experience really satisfied. We've had pepperonis that tasted like dog food, and the quality overall isn't as great as some other places (even other chains) in the area. Well tonight was the nail in the coffin. I walked in to the tiny building and there were two guys on the phone and a manager I assume (black shirt among red shirts) in between them, looking at a map, trying to find an address for one of the phone guys. Not one of them looked up when I came in, despite the door chimes and the fact that I was two feet away - no chance they didn't realize I was there. The black shirt guy - BS - found the address for the guy on the phone and then turned around and walked toward the back. No greeting, no "someone will be right with you", just walked away without looking at me. At this point, there was a guy behind me and we had both been waiting quite a while. One of the guys who had been on the phone hung up, and then he also turned around without acknowledging me, and walked away. BS had been chitchatting with another employee within eyesight, and then finally came back up to the front, asked the guy who was standing BEHIND me what the name was for his order, and helped him. Are you kidding me? Then he asked me for my name, I hadn't paid yet, he told me the total and I gave him some cash that needed change. He mumbled something about the guy (still on the phone) being "on the till". I said "I'm sorry?" and he repeated that that guy was on the till and I need to wait for him to hang up. Keep in mind there are two registers at the counter - not sure why only one has money in it. So after a few minutes, I dig through my wallet and luckily find exact change. I had a coupon that they had brought me from last time I ordered...40% off....tried to order on line, but would not accept Promo Code......exp date....12-31-18 so I called them....the young lady I spoke with told me that they could not accept coupon....ask why & to talk to manager.....manager told me that corporate had called them and pulled all their coupons.....told them not to use them anymore......I ask her if she would not honor it.....she was a bit of a smart aleck....I ask her name and she informed me that she did not have to give it to me....her name, by the way, is Heather Willingham....easy enough to find out. I took advantage of the Rangers7 special and when I picked up my pizza it had very few toppings - it was a virtual barren wasteland of pizza parts. The lady flipped the box open and closed real fast, and I took a second look. She asked me if something was wrong, and I told her that it was very skimpy, wasn't it? She helpfully pointed out that the bacon was actually just little bacon bits, although there was very little pepperoni, sausage, and olives as well.
