Central City is our halfway point for a room of trips. Even if the boy isn't starving and we mention this place he wants to stop for the meatball spaghetti. Pizza has always been good and the boss likes their calzones. Locally owned places are usually the best and this joint doesn't disappoint. The dining room usually has seating, but there are a TON of takeout orders so the locals must like it too - I mean a TON of takeout orders. Stopped by to check out this place in the middle of nowhere KY. I ordered the home cut fries and a medium pepperoni pizza. It's a local spot owner operator, server, etc. I received the pizza and it had ham and pepperoni... not a fan of the pizza. But I would definitely order the basket of home made fries again!! read more

Saw the owner this evening and he was really friendly. Closed Mondays and Sundays. Their other (Greenville) location is open for lunch if you're interested. Price was slightly more (like a buck and change) than what I calculated on the menu, but the menu does say price subject to change without notice. And they're laminated so probably not changed out often. So fair enough. The folks inside seemed like locals and were having a good time with banter. Phone was constantly ringing so I think they get good business with take out. The 9" thick pepperoni was pretty good. Not a ton of cheese but enough and I got a Great cheese pull from what was there (see pic). The "thick" part means more dough I believe. I don't think theres more filling like a Chicago deep dish. I mean it tasted good. Kinda like a sourdough. But if you're watching the carbs don't try it thick. The Italian beef sandwich with cheese was pretty good too. A lot of people wrote about it so I got one. Although I didn't really care for the flavor for some reason as it reminded me of corned beef which I'm not a fan of. If was Decent size, with lots of beef and on a soft hoagie. Cheese is on the bottom if you pay the extra buck for it. Extra star for local flair and great attitude. We are here in Greenville my Birthday place. Decided on eating at Papa Manzo's. Service was very good, the place was very packed with people having lunch. The food was perfect. My wife had their Italian Beef and I had an Italian salad. The cost was very reasonable too. read more

Absolutely the best pizza in the world. For all the negative comments about service, what do you want the business to do, dance on the table for you? These folks make and serve absolutely the best pizza around. If you don't like it, don't go. We drive 70 miles one way to go get pizza every few months there. read more

Papa Manzo's is a small, local, family-owned restaurant with plenty of hometown charm. They have great chicago-style pizza, manicotti, spaghetti, lasagna, and their signature calzone -the"Papalotsa" - all made with their own recipe marinara and real cheeses. For sandwiches it's hard to beat their meatball, italian beef, italian sausage, or italian beef/sausage com bo sandwiches with optional homemade giardiniera (hot or mild) and real mozzarella cheese. A side of their deep fried mushrooms, onion rings or hand-cut fries puts any of their sandwiches right over the top! He was so rude we came in before this one woman and he asked what she would like to eat while we were staring at him waiting for him to take our order! Overall, disappointing. Lunch was very expensive. Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce add a single meatball for additional cost $10.50. To substitute a house salad for the pasta salad that comes with the Spaghetti (odd combination) was additional $2.50. I asked for water to drink and was brought a bottle of water. Additional $1:00. Total cost for lunch $14.72 before gratuity. Like the price, the quality of the food was disappointing. The salad was standard and the lettuce was fresh. The mushrooms were canned uninviting as well as the green peppers. The Italian dressing was served in a pack from T. Marzetti. On the side. Plenty of mozzarella cheese on top. The Spaghetti was average. The sauce was a purée style and lacked pizzazz. No flavors of garlic, herbs, or onion. The meatball was tough and difficult to cut with a fork and had little flavor. Certainly not worth a two dollar up charge. The Spaghetti itself was too soft and did not have the firm al dente texture. The highlight of the meal was the garlic bread, which didn't have much garlic flavor. The bread was half of a light and fluffy roll and tasted fresh and had a nice pillowy texture. This is my second trip to this restaurant and likely my last as the first experience was not much better. read more
