Had a great meal here with some family while visiting town recently. I hadn't eaten here in ages, and really enjoyed my meal. Just opted for one of their burgers, but it was fantastic. I had a double smash burger with crispy bacon and pimento cheese with a side of fries. The attention to detail on the burger--the fact that the bacon was crispy, the bun perfectly toasted, and all of the toppings fresh and delicious before even getting to the juicy patties. Friendly service. Looks like a very extensive whiskey menu and a solid draft beer selection as well. read more

Our waitress was fantastic. Very nice and knowledgeable. Attentive, too. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and had a relaxing dinner in this pub/gastropub. The wings were really good. My son got the burger and sweet potato fries. His sweet potato fries were delicious! My husband got the steak and Brussels sprouts. His Brussels spouts were quite good. I got the steak, baked potato, and asparagus. The asparagus was good. But both the baked potato and the steak needed salt and seasoning. All in all I'd say this was a good meal. Have been visiting Madisonville fairly often this year for work and eaten at The Crowded House several times for dinner. I am usually with a fairly large group, so I always make reservations. We're also greeted and seated promptly by the hostess' and servers. Service has always been great; attentive and fast. They have a great selection of beer and cocktails. We usually order several appetizers for the table, and they have a great selection of vegetarian options (we usually have a vegetarian with us). Some food highlights- the appetizer sampler (great for a large party), fried pickles and bang bang shrimp. Steaks have always been cooked as ordered, fish and chips portion is HUGE, and the ultimate grilled cheese is delicious. If you are in the area I recommend you stop by. read more

I have recently been exploring Madisonville lately and one of the most highly rated places is The Crowded House. The restaurant is in an old building but it has a bar area, a dining area, and a stage area for music. My fiancé, stepson, and I started off with the hot pimento cheese dip. The dip was delicious but the chips is what I loved the most about the dip. I'm not much of a chip guy but these chips were made from a kettle. For my entree, I went with the COVID-57 burger. I wish the patty was more meaty but it was all right. It was an Angus beef burger. The burger came with 57, fried pickles, and brie cheese. It was suppose to also have red onion but they forgot it. Pretty good burger overall! Fries were hand-cut. My fiancé had the fish tacos and she enjoyed them. But the sweet potato fries she had were even better as they were crispy. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet. The menu has burgers, steaks, and chicken. If you are craving one of those, give The Crowded House a try. read more

Wow, this place is awesome! We were on the road for days and sorry to say but had nothing tasty until we got here. I'm vegetarian and my husband is a carnivore. There was plenty for both of us. I'm so happy Madisonville has this place. It has a wonderful ambience exposed brick, full bar,and a varied menu. The people that worked there were friendly and took care of us with a smile. My friend had a sandwich. She absolutely loved it. I had a bite and it was one of the best ones, I've tasted. I got the soup of the day which was a creamy artichoke spinach soup and the house salad. I wouldn't order it again. The soup was extremely salty and thick like I was eating dip. The salad was small No tomatoes, just iceberg lettuce with a little bit of cheese, croutons, and bacon bits. I will say I am a reasonable man and would like to understand what happened Saturday March 2nd that had the guests so upset. My wife and I and our son enjoy Annabel's music and drove in from Evansville IN to eat and hear the music of this up and coming star who we are going to see at the Grand Ol Opry coming soon next month. We spent $123.00 and enjoyed the food and adult beverages. Everything seemed great but now we are hearing something went astray after we left about 8pm. I hate to hear things went off the rails and so I would love to hear why. Seemed to me that guests were eating and drinking and spending dollars and had we not been there I think the place would have been empty. What I read did not completely reflect my experience the waitress was great. It would be great to hear from the manager on what happened? Worst CATFISH!!!! The catfish came out hard and rubbery. Only 1 piece out of the 3 flaked apart. The others were old. The fries were supposedly hand cut but it seemed like I got all of the burnt pieces in the basket. The manager came out and told me this was how everything was prepared with no apology. So I went to the crowded house on Friday for the first time (well, actually the second, I've been one time before for drinks, but this is the first time I bought any food) and I have to say, it was a very nice dine-in experience that I was able to share with my wife. While looking for something local in Madisonville we found The Crowded House. I was pleasantly surprised to see some of my favorite Kentucky breweries represented like Mirror Twin and West 6th. Overall they have a great craft beer selection for a small town. The food menu had something for everyone. I sampled a variety of appetizers from our table. Starting with the pretzel, which is ginormous...it was tasty. The mustard with it was a bit sweet for me but fine. Fried mushrooms, also large, were decent but nothing to write home about. The nachos were much smaller portions than the rest but really good. For my meal I had the Bier Cheese Chicken. Everything was well cooked and had good flavor. The food and beer menu are worth coming in for. The service tonight wasn't the most welcoming but we were served promptly and our orders were right so I can't really complain. read more

I took my boyfriend to this restaurant for his birthday and we were sooooo disappointed. The atmosphere was nice and the waitress was fantastic. The food was the absolute worst. My boyfriend ordered the steak, medium. It came out well done. He sent it back. They sent the same steak out and the manager argued that it was medium the first time. We spent $136.77 for the absolute worst meal. I had the bier chicken which was okay. He could not eat the baked potato which was greenish and hard or the terrible steak. I recommend a new chef and management. The waitress was new but she was phenomenal and did a wonderful job. The manager needs to learn what customer service means. Regardless, we paid the full price of food on his birthday, he could not eat. The bourbon list was on a large chalk board, not in a kind of order, alphabetically or by proof. I did inquire on two bourbons and a whiskey they did not have. No Blantons or Michters. I ordered a banana cabana that was delicious! The bartender did a fantastic job. We have eaten there before and the food is nothing like it used to be to be. Hopefully they will make these adjustments. There are only two restaurants in town that are considered fine dining.....so hopefully the next experience will be enjoyable and we can actually eat the food. read more

I know it's not the bartender or cooks fault but a restaurant can pay for better quality steaks and it was clear this establishment is not doing that. Absolutely awful attitudes from management. They would not let me reserve a table for any less than 15, then proceeded to tell me they would have no issue seating me. I then drove an hour to watch a performance ,and they told me it would be a 2 hour wait. I was there to watch a birthday performance ,and they let a person from the birthday party serve ALL the cake AND clean it all up. Then, proceeded to say that they were going to charge 10 dollars a table which amounted to about $150. The bathrooms were also disgusting ,and there was just terrible rude behavior throughout the entire night. The birthday girl was also playing the restaurant and they shorted her money for that at HER birthday party.
