Some of the other staff are also caring and kind. My biggest complaint is a lack of care for time of day. I have been here 2.5 weeks, and on 5 occasions, someone has come into my room in the middle of the night with questions or concerns that are not appropriate for that time of night. Last night at bedtime I declined a topical pain cream that was prescribed "as needed." It was the 3rd day in a row that I declined it. At 3:15 am a CNA walked into my room, turned on the lights, and started putting on gloves. When I asked what was going on, she mentioned this cream. I'm afraid I was very unkind when I told her I didn't want it and she needed to leave!! It seems they forget how important sleep is in the recovery process. Or they forget that just because they are awake and working, the rest of us are not.

I argued with the nursing manager who insisted the wound was not to be cared for that way. I saw the orders and contacted the previous provider to confirm the orders. In short after nearly 4 days at Stonehenge, my wife was admitted back into a hospital to care for her wound which had grown 40 to 50% and deepened to over 1" deep. Just try to find a lawyer that will file a suit for the small amount that is recoverable in this situation, oh sorry, that would require an honest lawyer. Don't use this facility for anyone requiring skilled nursing because they likely will not follow the necessary care orders from a competent medical facility.

I recently graduated the ascend program after being in it for almost a year. I have seen more…read morepersonal growth in the time that I have been here than any other time in my life, and I contribute lots of it to the guidance of the Ascend staff. I entered the program under the threat of being kicked out of my house due to my drug use (I was 18). I was angry and unwilling to commit to sobriety so I was disrespectful towards staff and other clients. I seemed to not care about sobriety, but the Ascend staff never gave up on me. They helped me discover the reasons why I was stuck in a rut in life and using drugs. This program doesn't just teach you how to quit using drugs, it teaches you how to live a fulfilling life in all aspects. The three stages are crucial to the success of the client. Lakehouse is very structured and based in group therapy. The structure and introspection provided by the schedule and therapy are a stark contrast to the chaos of a lifestyle rooted in drug use. A lot is to be gained from the various forms of therapy that takes place in Lakehouse. Eagleview is aptly described as transitional living. The key goals are to get a job, sponsor, outside psychiatrist and therapist, and practice executive functioning skills introduced in Lakehouse. It is designed to set you up for the third and final phase. Riley is where you put all that you have learned into action. You are thrust back into the world with your new knowledge and tools and expected to be a responsible adult with less guidance. This is the stage of the program where most people are prone to relapse. You are expected to begin building a life for yourself, while still having support from the Ascend staff. From there you begin to save money until you can eventually graduate the program and move to wherever you please, although most people (myself included) choose to stay in Salt Lake. Overall I cannot recommend Ascend Recovery enough for someone struggling with addiction. The staff were some of the best people I have met in my life, and they didn't give up on me through my multiple hiccups in the process of getting sober. I am now happier than I have ever been and on my way to achieving my dreams, and Ascend has played a big role in this result.

I came to ascend seeking answers and seeking help where I really needed it. In some ways I found it and in other ways I didn't. I found it hard to connect with an environment that has a real lack of God in it. I come from a faith based background and I would not recommend this place to anyone who is faith based (Christian). The faculty challenge your beliefs and they go out of their way to deem your beliefs as outdated or incorrect rather than appealing to your faith. Many of the faculty here are atheists. Unfortunately, these type of people will not inherit the kingdom of God. I do want to mention that they put significant effort into inciting fear into patients in order for you to give them more money. This is not a place for Christian people to go to and I do know without a doubt that JESUS is the true higher power and the only way to Heaven. And NO, getting sober and staying sober isn't the way to Heaven. The erroneous faculty here will say otherwise but they are incorrect.

Every staff member I had contact with was helpful. I think it would be so hard in this industry to not become jaded, but they seem to maintain a level of genuine interest and caring that I was honestly surprised with. Dave was my therapist and was awesome. He's one of the owners, but rather than sitting back, takes a very active role in everything that goes on there, including individual therapy with clients. He was a great mix of fun, professionalism, and genuine caring. The group meetings and instruction from staff members were always very interesting, and supportive. I learned a lot and benefited from being around such empathetic people. Not quite as important, but still nice- the facilities were nice, clean, and well maintained. Being in a difficult situation, any nicety made life a little easier. In a very difficult time of life, the treatment I received here and in their outpatient program really turned things around for me. I'm very grateful to them.

Yes they push you, but how else are you going to get back to good health. The food served is great plus they give you alternate choices if you don't care for what they are serving that meal. Who does that? It's like a small restaurant. The rooms are cleaned daily so there are no funny smells. They have single and double rooms. Everyone has their own tv and remote. They have daily activities, church services on Sunday, family home evening, a beauty salon to keep us feeling our best. They can take you to your doctor's appointment too. If I were to go back to rehab from a fall or to get well ............ there's no question in my mind where I would select, Heritage Care Center in American Fork.
