Papa pane was introduced to me as one of the best pizza place in Berlin but it is more than a pizzeria. They also serve respectable pastas. It is a bit weak on the antipasto/appetizer though. Wines are well priced so a good option. The place can be very busy so reservation really helps otherwise you may have to wait for quite a while before 8:30/9:00 pm. Overall, pizza is a better bet over pasta.

One of my favorite pizza places in Berlin. Pizza, pasta, fish dishes, amazing deserts - everything is supper yummy. Great selection of Italian wines. Great for groups and families with kids. They have kids size pizzas! Place is always full, so call in advance to reserve a table. Service can be a little bit slow, but with all the people to serve it's understandable. House wine (red or white) is what I usually drink with my vegan Marinara pizza.

It's an authentic Italian restaurant with Italian staff and, from what they have told me, ingredients imported from Italy. The result, a tasty pizza! Prices for the service you get is good, staff is friendly and atmosphere is worth trying out.

Two pizzas, wine and beer for a perfect Tuesday evening!

My boyfriend and I found this restaurant through a travel blogger on Pinterest. We were looking for reasonably priced food that was still authentic and delicious (obviously the most important). We jumped on the train from our hotel to Papa Pane di Sorrento. When we got there we grabbed a spot outside on their patio. It is in a nicer area and neighborhood of Berlin, so we were able to watch the people are cars go by on a quiet Tuesday night. They had an English menu which was fantastic, but our waitress didn't speak any English. Turns out "pizza, beer, and wine" is a universal language for everyone though! We both got our own pizzas which was a little too much food for us, you could probably split one for two people. Also, remember that in Germany they cut everything while they eat it, so don't be a stupid American and eat your slices with your hands! I would give this restaurant 6/5 stars if I could. It was such an excellent stop during our trip, I highly recommend!

I wanted to like this restaurant really bad because a friend recommended it but it was not it. I went at about 4pm and was told there was no pasta until 5pm. I was hesitant about waiting but I really wanted pasta so I decided to sit outside and have a few beers. I got hungry so I ordered the bruschetta. It took a while to come out and it was just ok, the tomato didnt have much flavor. I got a beer and it was hot - no bueno. Finally at 4:50pm the waiter told me I could order pasta. Turns out they only have about 6-7 pasta dishes for dinner and most are only served during lunch. I asked if they could make me a carbonara (not on the menu) and luckily the kitchen agreed. When they brought it out it looked amazing but everything went downhill with the taste - it was soooo incredibly salty! The pancetta was not cooked all the way through and neither was the pasta. I ate about half because I was really hungry but I was very underwhelmed. The meal ended up being 20€ which was not worth it. I appreciate them accommodating me and the portions are pretty big but thats about it. I think you're better off sticking with the pizza which looked great.

YUMM. The quatro formaggi and house specialty Papa Pane pizzas.

Such amazing, authentic Neapolitan pizza at an amazing price! The pizzas are huge - falling off the big plates - and they are mostly under €10! Ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The menu is first in Italian and then German. Not much English spoken, which contributed to accidentally buying a €5 bottle of water. We went here because celebrities like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are here, and now I see why! If you want the best pizza in Berlin, look no further!

We tried several pizzas which were all good. Cannelloni was excellent. Server was prompt and courteous.

Great italien place with a lunch menu that almost seems like a steal. Especially the homemade pasta is great.

The restaurant sits along a busy street near The Gate. Atmosphere is nice enough...comfortable seating inside and out under awnings, crisp white table cloths, Italian wait staff straight out of "Central Casting Roma" who charm with Italian greetings and banter. But the good times end there. While menus were brought to our table immediately, taking our order took some time and a few hand gestures to make happen. Food, a pizza and some pasta for my friend, were bland and mediocre at best. Have feeling the orders sat a bit before being delivered as they were lukewarm upon arrival. The pizza was undercooked, under-sauced, and rather boring overall. Pasta was reported to be the same. When it was to go it took three asks to settle the bill. Our charming waiter politely suggested our tip was insufficient (it wasn't), and I left feeling much more like I'd been hoodwinked into dining at a tourist trap vs. having an enjoyable experience. I'm clearly in the minority compared to other recent reviews. Maybe it was just an off-night. But I travel to Berlin enough to know there are some really good small independent places to find great Italian food. This place is not one of them. Diners beware.

They offer seating both outdoors and indoors. I opted to dine outdoors. Nice atmosphere. The waiter spoke German, Italian, and English. He was professional and efficient. Complimentary warm, fresh bread and olives were served first. I ordered a Latte Macchiato and the Spaghetti Aglio Olio. The spaghetti was perfectly cooked, al dente. It was simple, not loaded with many ingredients, just garlic, roasted red peppers, Parmesan, and olive oil. Delicious. Reminiscing makes my mouth water. It was a pleasant expensive.

Located near Checkpoint Charlie in the center of Berlin, this very, very small but lovely little Italian restaurant makes amazing, authentic food. If you know a little German it will help you here. If you are a local or can get a reservation, that also would help. Otherwise it might be packed. We got the last table available when we came in. We had the Calamari Fritto app special, which was one of the all time best calamari we've ever had anywhere. We also had the Spaghetti con Gamberetti, which was excellent but could use more aggressive seasoning. People in Germany clearly don't like a lot of seasoning. I had the Penne con manzo e funghi stagionali, which was truly excellent. All the pasta was fresh, all the flavors authentic and appreciated. The only thing weird at all Italian restaurants is this spread they give you which I can only describe as sour cream and chives potato chip dip. I don't get it, but whatever. It's not like you get charged for it. Anyway, if you're in Berlin, put this place on your must try list and go!
