I got gifted a birthday voucher to try one of the floatation tanks as one of the main things Phlōt…read moreoffers and I've honestly wanted to experience it for a long time and I couldn't have been more happy with the experience. Truly the entire six minute session gives the feeling of free floating in the quiet empty universe in the most calming way possible and I think my mind benefitted just as much as my body from the experience and I really hope to be able to go again sometime

It has been years and I have always wanted to try Phlot and finally took advantage of a Black…read moreFriday Deal (2 floats + option for the fire/ice for two) and decided to take the plunge! I was always really curious about the anti-sensory floats (how does this work?!) and see how it relaxes you, how it will help stress and anxiety. My boyfriend and I had difficulty really finding the right times, days based on their online platform - especially because we wanted to do both experiences in one day as a spa type date - so we had to call a handful of times to get someone to answer our questions or even the phone. However, once they answered, we could easily book with them (without doing so online) and they shared that we could do the fire/ice room before the floats and they would provide us with the shortest wait time between (as sanitation allows - the whole facility is EXTREMELY clean. I did not have any hesitations on their cleaning protocols) and what to expect. I didn't realize how many showers I would actually take in a 3 hour period, but wow, they really are helpful to make sure you're going to experience everything properly. The fire/ice room was really interesting! There is a sauna that can seat two and an ice bath that is only for one. My critiques in this is that I would have loved the option to lay down in the sauna in between each dip in the ice bath. We could sync our phone via bluetooth, listen to some relaxing music, have conversation but also test our endurance on if we could stay in the bath longer than 2 seconds. I may have made it a full minute but beyond that, I didn't have the ability! Once our time was up, the sauna turned off, we had time to shower and get dressed. After, we waited in the dark room before heading into our float. I think it took about 30 minutes between sessions before we headed to our floats. Floats are done individually and fully nude. They provide you earplugs (if you want, but not necessary) as well as a halo to support your head (but also not recommended) given that they want to limit all sensories that could distract you from enjoying the experience. She made a comment to wipe your face before you enter the tank because a drop of water can be very distracting and I didn't think it would make a difference, but wow did it! I accidentally got water on my face while I was trying to navigate the meditation music, lights etc, and had to actually get out to wipe my face again. As far as the float experience, you are totally weightless, do not need to try to float and you can just keep your arms out to not bump into the walls. I definitely started to fall asleep but ended up just enjoying the quiet and meditative feel. They provide you towels, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner to get ready after your experience and even have a space for hair dryers if needed. A couple critiques: 1) I felt like the water wasn't quite warm enough for me so I felt cold at times. 2) The meditative/spa music that was available in my tank could not actually be heard while floating. This was also how they would announce that my time was done. 3) Not every tank has this option for lights or sound - I do think it would be great to have it in each tank so you can really enjoy and notify people as needed. 4) The Twinkle Lights in my tank flickered and was VERY distracting. I would prefer a low dull twinkle for those that are a little nervous of it being pitch black dark. Otherwise, I really do think it was a cool experience and as someone who's a little claustrophobic, I felt totally comfortable with it. Though, if you're afraid of water and darkness, maybe not the best experience for you. I think I will want to try it again but I'm not quite ready to opt into the $49/month membership (for one float or one fire/ice experience).
