So spacious yet so warm. Great for a event or like us a vacation that is so relaxing. Pool is a huge reason we booked this for our vacation but hoping the home would be historic and charming and it exceeded our expectations. 4 1/2 baths and 3 bedrooms but so many more rooms. If you need TV's in rooms not the right pick but if you are like us if you want history and relaxing in a beautiful home than this is it. It really is such a gem and you can see it in every room. I ended up ordering a few appetizers. The Hot & Sour Soup was the standout... flavorful, comforting, and easily a 5/5 on a cold n wet day. Unfortunately, the rest didn't quite hit the mark. The shrimp rolls were below average... mostly lettuce, the shrimps were dried out, and they took about 10 extra minutes to come out. The crab rangoon was the biggest disappointment; the filling had an unpleasant smell and tasted like heavy, clotted cream cheese and there wasn't even an iota of imitation crab meat to justify that name. My friends ordered egg rolls, which actually looked pretty good (I'd say a solid 4/5), and Singapore noodles, which unfortunately looked underwhelming. Overall, there are a few bright spots, especially the soup, but the food quality and atmosphere were inconsistent. With some updates and more attention to freshness and flavor, this place could really improve.

Beautifully decorated, with a queen bed and another room with a pull out. The bathroom is gorgeous and has a jacuzzi tube. There is also a living room area and a dining area with small fridge, sink and microwave. They don't do a hot breakfast, but have delicious breakfast supplies in the room for you (fruit, muffins, zucchini bread with chocolate chips, juice, milk, cereal, coffee, hot chocolate and oatmeal supplies). It was very private and relaxing. The windows look out over the horses in the paddock and you're welcome to enjoy their grounds. Definitely recommend this place!

Our bedroom with its own large bathroom was beautifully decorated and so very plush-even had plush robes hanging in the closet for our use! Mini refrigerator was stocked with sodas that we mentioned we liked. We arrived around 3 and went to our room. About an hour later our picnic basket was ready. The sandwiches and cupcakes were DELICIOUS! The next morning our breakfast included a croissant with some kind of blueberry compote and cheese filling with crisp bacon. OMG! The homemade food at Charred Oakes is worth the stay. What a lovely time in a beautiful BnB with very gracious hosts.
