I called 25 minutes before Kopy Katz closed for the day and asked the staff member if she got files…read moreI needed them to get so they could print papers I needed printed. She said she got the files and agreed to me saying I was on my way. But then when I got there, she said she wouldn't be making any printouts because of the limited time was remaining (about 10 minutes). The store was still open, getting there just 15 minutes after I called and said I was on my way should be acceptable, and she agreed to me coming by. She then agreed to make the printouts, but she just printed out one paper apiece for each of the files. As the files themselves should have indicated, since Kopy Katz would want to increase their sales, and as there was going to be more than one printout for most of the files (reason would say that at least many of them would need more than one printout), it's mystifying to me why she didn't ask how many copies I needed. Also, there was time to spare after she made the printouts. Thus, her complaint about time even if the store wasn't open doesn't seem to have had a point. And more printouts could have been made even if she wasn't willing to stay open to gain more revenue/because the customer arrived before closing time and because it just so happened that the business/transaction wasn't yet complete, as stores routinely do in my experience.

I recently purchased a Pratt-built handpress - an Albion-style first constructed in England in the 1830's. It's a perfect size for letterpress and woodblock printing. Small enough to fit in a corner of a bedroom but strong enough to make good impressions. The workmanship is excellent, with the iron of the press built from castings they made of an original press in a museum. They've built working Gutenberg replicas as well as the wooden common press in operation at Texas A&M's Book History lab. These guys are last of a breed - and should be recognized. 5 stars!
