What a wonderful space and how incredible the teachers…read more I have been taking classes now for 2 years here, including hiring for private classes with friends at home or office, and the fact that I am writing a reviews shows how appreciative I am of this space. Each teacher has their specialization and style, but are all very welcoming and helpful. (And each teacher is often bringing new techniques and variety to their classes.) The studio has a mild social vibe, which I feel adds to the practice, the experience. For me it helps reinforce my consistency of yoga practice. The indoor space is a chance to see one of few remaining houses in this area with Toronto's 1930's (or so) architecture. The studio room is clean and has a bohemian good vibes. There is also a meditation/social room, deck and backyard space. Often there are health and wellness events hosted by guest practitioners, which teachers will tell you about if they know your interests. Yoga mats and blocks are available but must be sanitized after use.

I've attended yoga classes here, which I was SO thankful to find was actually about the practice, and was not a glorified jazzercise course with everyone in $300 "yoga" clothes. Everything is very down to earth, and focused on personal development and the inner-experience of the practices. The meditation and satsang opportunities that the have are also a breath of fresh air. Intent-filled kirtan, chanting, sitting, and information from knowledgeable teachers are par for each session. I've also taken some of the vegetarian Indian cooking workshops here, which were so much fun, hands-on and belly-full experiences that really inspired you to take your cooking to a new level. I highly recommend those wanting to explore an authentically Vedic yoga practice take some classes here, and meet all the wonderful people that work and play here!

This large industrial style loft complex on Carlaw is now home to two brand new yoga studios. Being right across from my house, I had been eagerly awaiting the addition of a yoga studio. The first to go in was Seven Seeds, which used to be known as Chang's and was just around the corner on Queen. I personally was not a huge fan of their "style" so I didn't venture over there. When I heard neighbours buzzing about the new studio across the road I thought that was what they meant.. but NO there were TWO new studios! Spirit Loft is run by a twosome, one male and one female in a cute and small loft on the third floor. My guess is that 13 yogis can practice at a time. The two are both extremely inviting, and you really feel as if you are being welcomed into their home to practice. It is a completely unique vibe to any other studio in Toronto that I have experienced. Mostly what sets this studio apart is that one of the two owners is a male who has 10 years playing professional sports under his belt, so the athleticism I am sure is a big draw for (mostly men) in Leslieville. A "Bro-ga" class on the schedule makes yoga even more accesible to men. Good vibe, good classes. They are new, and a small operation so it is still cash only and very limited number of classes. Also no showers etc. Fine for me as I live in the 'hood and really would only be able to visit after work and weekend mornings anyways. I am really excited to see where this studio goes. The vibe and the people are really special and I am eager to watch them grow. If you live in the neighbourhood, they are definitely worth the visit. First week $10.

I went for Kristy's saturday morning energy flow class. what I loved about them - amazing amazing space - a small loft with TONS of natural light - great teacher - Kristy was trained by JP of ahimsa. She gave options for variations and modifications on poses, was reallygood about checking our alignment to ensure we were doing the poses right, had a great energy, and ran an enjoyable class with the perfect balance of challenge - the owners were super friendly and approachable, taking the class themselves - super personal classes - not a huge space so the classes are smaller and intimate - interesting course offerings - although they don't offer many classes (1/day, 2/day on the weekend), they offer a wide variety of types of yoga classes. They also have a yoga+naturopath series with a workshop once a month of 60min yoga and a talk by a naturopath on topics such as beating the winter blues or allergies - all for just 25$!!!

Since I was a newbie, some of the others talked to me afterward and said stuff like how hard it was for them in the beginning too. One of the few Ashtanga places in GTA.

It seems they are still building up the number of members at their new location on Queen Street so the classes aren't busy and there's lot of rooms to spread out (at least in the class I attended). A few things of note, the attendance and sign in doesn't seem to be electronic yet and everything is tracked by paper. There isn't really a change room area (at least not from what I was shown) so the "change room" area is on the first level and right beside the entrance. For me, I didn't feel comfortable leaving my bag or anything there as anyone from the street can easily walk in and take your belongings as there is no front desk or anyone watching the door. I took all my belongings including my coat upstairs.

It is located in a small plaza with a no-frills and bulk barn. Who wouldn't want to work out then get their sugar fix afterwards am I right?? The yoga studio very modern and the people working here are very nice. The people who work here are mostly volunteers who perform energy exchanges but it is an awesome way to meet the community. This location is the city centre location. Do not mix it up with the Mississauga location as they both will have different schedules. Parking: The parking is plaza style parking. Although it is limited, you shouldn't have a hard time finding a parking spot unless you're coming here during peak grocery shopping time. Studio: This studio offers many classes to choose from. The Yoga flow class is the one I took. This is a great balance between a power yoga and a yin yoga. It has plenty of movements to make sure you are working but and it is slow enough to give you a nice stretch. If you're a beginner, it would be difficult to master this class but as someone who is getting back into yoga, this was a good choice. The energy exchange as I mentioned above is a volunteer position where you trade ~4 hours a week of your time (1 shift usually) to get access to the gym. The work during your shift is usually assisting to clean the studio after a class has been completed or checking in people who are coming for classes.

We came here and I instantly loved the relaxed and warm vibe of the place. I often find yoga studios to be a bit snobby and/or obnoxiously spiritual. This is a yoga place for me. The instructors are relaxed and welcoming and the other students range across all ages and ethnicities. The practice rooms are large, and one has a mirror on the wall so you can see how terribly you're doing (if you're me). Both rooms have blocks, straps, blankets, bolsters and cleaning kits that are free for everyone to use. The instructors make sure to give alternative poses for the newbies or otherwise inflexible. There's also a big sitting room area with low lighting where you can enjoy complimentary filtered water or tea before and after class. The change rooms are spacious with shower facilities and a really nice lavender hand soap. I finished out my unlimited intro month (SO WORTH IT at $40!!) and have purchased a 20-class pass. I can't recommend this place enough!
