Most recently, we were enjoying a lovely and peaceful Sunday morning stroll and picnic breakfast when the stillness was shattered by a woman (purportedly teaching some sort of class) braying like a jackass and screaming at the top of her lungs, disturbing other users and the many wonderful ducks which, ultimately, took flight at all the commotion. This place was PERFECT The trails are well kept, some picnic tables/area at the edges but most of the walk is lovely, filled with people but yet feels not crowded, great views to the river, lots of birds and lots of dogs (I love places like this). My son loved the riding experience, my dog loved the exercise and I loved the entire bundle. With coffee in hand, we wandered through the pathways where colossal living sculptures seemed to rise out of the ground. Each one was a marvel--crafted from hundreds of thousands of flowers and plants, yet so artfully shaped that they felt like characters telling their own stories. "Mother Earth," with her serene face and cascading waterfall arm, embodied both strength and gentleness. "The Man Who Planted Trees" reminded me of the power of one person's quiet perseverance. Think next-level topiary and you'll be close to having an idea of what this is like. Access is easy via the Metro but just be sure to nit muss the stop otherwise you cross into "zone B" at the next stop and can't get back on if your metro pass doesn't cover both zones...a nice Metro staff person did take pity on us confused out of towners and let us through a manual gate. Signage is decent around the park, and restrooms and water bottle fillers are available but not much in terms of food so eat before you go or bring snacks.

The pond, the small waterfall, the cobble-stone paths, the library (now over 100 years old), the green spaces, the variety of huge, mature trees which give plenty of shade, you can easily pick up lunch on the go on Sherbrooke street and come over and spend an afternoon here spread out on a blanket, either chilling out with a great friend or a great book. But winter here is my favourite. We love to come here cross-country skiing as a family, being on these huge trails and wild edges of the island. It's always breezy here in the summer, even hot days are soothing, the waves are wild and you just feel a release from the heaviness of the city. All the more appreciated during these crazy times.

More Details: The northern boundary is Dorchester Square St. The southern boundary is Rene Levesque Blvd. The western boundary is Peel St and the eastern boundary is Metcalfe St. It's sometimes confused with Place du Canada/Canada Place which is another urban park directly south. The two are separated by Rene Levesque Blvd. Once upon a time, Dorchester Square and Place du Canada was collectively called Dominion Square. There are several monuments in Dorchester Square: the Tribute to Wilfred Laurier, the Boer War Memorial, the Robert Burns statue and the Lion of Belfort fountain. I was most recently there just after Christmas in 2024 and it was decorated with lights and looked very pretty, especially at night. I never spent much time there when I was living in Montreal, but now I appreciate its beauty more when I go back to Montreal for visits. Review #5 (2025)

Quiet and hidden just how I like them…read more It's in the most beautiful part of westmount the type of area where the houses are "ouuuu" and "ahhhh" worthy. I decided to come for a picnic and didn't want to get stuck fighting for picnic tables in every other packed park. This place was just right, quiet and you have a great view from the bleacher. There's a few entrances to the park, I however came by the street and came down a little flight of cement stairs that lead us to a huge well maintained soccer field. There's 3 sets of bleachers 2-4 benches around the field as well as 2 benches under a gazebo. There's a water fountain to drink from right beside the gazebo as well as a huge deck area that has a look out of the rest of the park. At the look out you will notice a dog park to your left and a tennis court to the right there's stairs on either sides of the building to bring you to them.

Set on a large sweeping hill with beautiful views of the city, it is a delightful setting for a picnic or just a quiet place to stretch out with a book. A friend told me it was modelled on the Primrose Hill park in London but I don't know if that's just urban myth. On the east side of the park about halfway up there is a nice playground for kids, and a bit further up near the top there is a small wading pool in the summer. There is also a dog park, tennis courts and soccer field at the top of the park. In winter, it's a great spot to take the little ones sledding.
