Wonderful eco-park or bio-reserve on the far end of Nun's…read moreIsland. 26 Hectares of woodland, swamps, wetlands and pond/lake for walking, thru, bird-watching, and forest bathing. You'll see ducks, heron, cormorants, turtles, some fish, and many other birds here hanging about but like all wildlife, it can be hit or miss. Nun's Island is a bit of a bedroom community but the Domaine's hiking/walking paths link up the main Lac Des Battures with the other ponds and streams on the island, many of them behind the elegant townhouses and homes here. In the wetlands area, there is an elevated wooden walkway and here you'll see wild mushrooms and trilliums in the springs. Given the size of some of the tree bases, I'd say some of the trees are well over 100 years old. Bikes are NOT allowed here given that it's a delicate and fragile ecosystem. I saw one obnoxious guy here show up on his bike claiming he "wasn't sure if bikes are allowed here or not" when there are very clear signs indicating as much at the entrances of the park. He clearly knew they weren't allowed, but he just did it anyway. Keep quiet by the lake, loud noises and voices scare off the animals. I've also seen some pretty obnoxious loudmouths here who seem to think they can conduct networking parties here . The number 12 bus comes close enough and then you have some walking to do to get into the heart of the park.

I never been to this park but I looked in that area and this park looked nice and seemed to have trails for our kids hiking levels. The kids loved this park, amazing trails, not that hard that go inside the woods or along the river. Lots of scenic stops, and lots of fun in general. What made us very happy is that this park ALLOWS DOGS (a big thing in Quebec). The park is also very popular as a fishing spot, or for mushroom pickers. The entry is about 5-7$ pp and there is free parking, you can see all the details and trails on the park site, they are also very friendly (and speak English) over the phone. Overall a well deserve 5 stars !

Was looking for a small park to play…read moresoccer with the kiddo and I stumbled upon this gorgeous super park that has recently been renovated with a beautiful new play ground and splash pad. The kid loved it. The whole play area is so great and innovating! There is free and very accessible parking. Park Charbonneau is going to be a family favorite. Lots of place to play games, soccer and volleyball areas. Even a small mountain during winter! There's the option to have a picnic too! You can also go near the water and feed the ducks!

As with many nice places, users are the problem- especially when they do not understand the concept of sharing a space with others. Most recently, we were enjoying a lovely and peaceful Sunday morning stroll and picnic breakfast when the stillness was shattered by a woman (purportedly teaching some sort of class) braying like a jackass and screaming at the top of her lungs, disturbing other users and the many wonderful ducks which, ultimately, took flight at all the commotion. This place was PERFECT The trails are well kept, some picnic tables/area at the edges but most of the walk is lovely, filled with people but yet feels not crowded, great views to the river, lots of birds and lots of dogs (I love places like this). My son loved the riding experience, my dog loved the exercise and I loved the entire bundle. I am sure once the trees will become green again it will be even more amazing and they also have a verity of winter walking trails. Nature in the City
