Cons (and there are many) For the price I paid I would search for a better location. The bathrooms were TINY even by European standards after my friends took a look. Absolutely no toiletries. There was liquid soap, rough towels. If you're a family of 3 book 2 rooms. The space was CRAMPED for me and my young son. If you have a stroller there is NO space .. so tiny is the room and bed. Elevator is SMALL. Again if you're a family of 3 you will need to ride the elevator 2 times .. it accommodates only 2 ppl at a time. BUT you can take the luggage up and down via elevator. Don't pay $30 USD for breakfast... leave the hotel and make a right and next door sells breakfast for $6 and it is better than the hotel breakfast. The HOLIDAY INN was better than here but further so it would have cost a ton in just Uber that's why I picked here

It's very close to the Louvre, Musee D'orsay, the islands, restaurants, and central metro stops. It's also near a distinct building, making it easy to spot the hotel on our walks back. The streets felt safe to walk on at night as late as 2am. Most importantly for us, the AC and wifi worked very well (lived on 5th/top floor). We don't mind small bedrooms as we are only in there to sleep and are out of the hotel for the majority of the day. The only minor negative is that, even I'll admit the bathrooms were small and the amenities were of below average quality (rough towels, mediocre soap and no hair dryer) but for our short stay, we could get through it easily. Place worked out to about 131 euro a night, which I found fairly reasonable

Same breakfast everyday. BTW, the plain breakfast croissant was amazing!! Sadly I did not discover it until my last day... I have been eating chocolate croissants... Told by Guiallme who treated us like criminals in the hotel we were paying for we could not wait in the lobby. So we were kicked out before we could check in. Which is wonderful after you are exhausted after traveling. This hotel is tiny. The rooms are decorated in a fashion that reminds me of a funeral home. Depressing, dark and smelly. Tons of stupid rules. I feel like a child all over again being told no no no. I don't recommend this hotel at all. Spend your money elsewhere. Guiallme will surely see you have an awful stay.

Everyone should be very aware that if you are expecting a room like the United States, you need to adjust your expectations. Rooms in Europe are small, especially Paris. Crown molding on the ceilings and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which was good because there was a heat wave in Paris (98* F)! We found out upon arrival that kids eat breakfast for free if the adults pay. I believe it was 26€ per person for adults. We chose to go to the bakery around the corner instead but the breakfast looked very nice. The hotel is located in a very quiet and safe part of Paris while still being in the city and close to everything. We used the subway religiously as it was close by. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at Hotel Ares and would recommend it for any family with young children!

If you're looking to go more upscale, there is an impressive, modernist Rennaisance (Marriott) across the street; not sure what the pricing is there but certainly a bit more. The beds are decent, but not super supportive. I believe the hotel has both heat and air conditioning (some places in Europe do not hav A/C for you newbies). Breakfast is usually included in the Hotel Ceramic price (as for many Western Europe hotels)...The lady working the breakfast nook is really kind. You get a bread basket filled with croissants, pastries, nutella, butter, jam plus they have yogurt, coffee, juices. You can customer order eggs for a bit extra. There is also one gentelman working at the front counter who was very helpful in providing suggestions for restaurants, directions, etc. This hotel is quite the charmer and good overall place to crash for a week or two in Paris.

She said it was well-located, had good amenities, a very professional, accommodating staff, superb breakfast brunch, was safe, comfortable, and generally a fine bargain. I agreed to book there, and saw that she'd been right during our recent stay; everything was beautifully handled. We are not young people (though not infirm), and the staff helped us handle the limitations of energy, mobility, etc. The Echiquier and its staff seem ideal for people looking more for convenience than glamour, and who want nice lodgings that feel classically French without being ostentatious or overly costly. Special praise goes to Emmanuelle, the Chef de Brigade at Reception. When I first emailed the hotel about our specific wishes, she replied, then kept in touch with me to arrange all those. Her help and advice, spanning from services within the hotel, to nearby businesses, to features and attractions of the city and France beyond (like confirming my train ticket to Bordeaux) made the beautiful experience of Paris even more pleasant, and as easy as one might hope for in any large, dense urban area. The hotel staff are delightful and are very helpful. Remember hotel rooms in Paris are notariously small and high priced. I would definitely describe our room as small but not claustrophobic! There was an elevator but no air conditioning! The only way for us to get cool air was to open the windows and that created a noise element at night. Although we had an o k experience, this hotel is not recommended for the middle of summer.
