Some plots are set up with bistro tables surrounded by beautiful flowers growing around. Others are filled with organically grown vegetables and some plots mixed with both. A special shout out to Les, Susan, and all the Master Gardeners for sharing their knowledge with a semi-noob! It's a very interesting place, located close to the Santa Monica Airport and the Bundy Campus of Santa Monica College. I drove around this neighborhod for years (work, school, etc.) and never knew it existed! I enjoyed the class and how Ocean View Farms functioned as an open air, living classroom for the topics at hand. The plots are very diverse in character, reflecting their owners' view of organic gardening techniques. I understand it takes a while to get a plot and I already have a garden, but I'd definitely recommend getting on their waitlist if exploring community gardening interests you!

Creating a garden keeps me grounded, keeps me centered in the present moment, much like painting used to do. Whenever I spot a community garden space, I always have to stop and take a look. There are rainbows of color & fragrance, butterflies, hummingbirds...... Hummingbirds are said to represent prosperity, and I've been known to make a wish when one hovers nearby. They only accept cash, so don't show up expecting to pay with a card like we did. Also, babies have to wear a swim diaper even if they aren't getting in the water, so be sure to pack one. There are no chairs or seating, so plan to bring your own if you don't want to stand the whole time. We also packed our own towels, snacks, and drinks, which definitely came in handy. One thing I appreciated was that parents are required to stay with their children in the water at all times. It made the pool feel safe, especially with so many little ones swimming. Now that we know what to bring, our next visit will be even easier. Overall, it was a fun, inexpensive way to spend the day with the family, and we'll definitely be back.

The park was fantastic, pristine and spacious with a top tier playground. Felix's parents claimed a prime seating area right outside the playground, where we could eat and socialize while keeping an eye on our various kids. The set-up felt very safe and easy. I admit to losing track of my five-year-old for long stretches at a time, and once finding him in a piece of playground equipment with a group of children he didn't know, giggling as two of their dads spun them around and around. My two-year-old spent a lot of time in the sand with several toddler friends, pouring sand into a play table and also all up in their clothes. We brought our elderly basset hound Duke in a mobility stroller, and he got lots of attention, too. It was a nice outing for our whole family. I also couldn't help but notice that the park was right next to the Santa Monica Airport and other airplane-themed entertainment. We live pretty far from Marine Park, but I have a feeling we'll be back.
