On our last trip I ventured out to the picturesque little town of Abbeville to the renowned Dupuy's. I had gotten there pretty early and so the place was basically just me and the staff which helped me pick out my food. Naturally I got some raw oysters since they were in season and some Crawfish etouffee which was just perfect. Court House & VPSO HQ, fronting on Charity Street (Old LA HWY 14) in the business/banking/government center. This is in an extremely competitive restaurant neighborhood, with a number of excellent established eateries. In fact, we often drive the 45" to eat at several of the older places here. Entire place is very clean & neat, including restrooms. Their kitchen closes @ 2:00 PM Sundays. Arriving about 1:20, we were the only customers. Sunday menu is limited to breakfast & brunch type items. Foods are typical for region. This town is famous for good cooks, great Cajun & Southern foods. Waitress is nice, but is unsure of menu items; the maitre d' is more knowledgeable. However, once we got our cheeseburgers & fries, the meal was excellent. Very good burgers, good fries. Overall, very good food, digs, & overall value. No real disappointments. We'll definitely be back, but likely on a weekday for lunch. This place was the only thing open in the area, and everyone in town knew it. Took two tries on GPS to find it. Little shack off the beaten path with lots of locals. Down home vibe. Mainly crawfish (3, 5, or 10 lb) served in large tubs and sides, some fried seafood and a few non seafood items. Service is prompt and friendly and very informal, as we knew when we were asked if we knew what we wanted or if we wanted menus. Crawfish were not too spicy but some generous in size. Sides of boiled corn, potatoes, sausages, and sweet potato fries were good. An enjoyable meal, but probably not worth a road trip from New Orleans.
