I have resided in Parkchester for over three decades enjoying the abundant trees and have been satisfied with the services. Throughout the years the common charges have increased and I have understood the need for increases. However, as of late and unfortunately within a number of years the grasses have litter and dogs' feces are not picked up by their owners. Today I and other renters at 34 Metropolitan Oval have called for our elevators to be repaired but it hasn't happened. Why? I certainly pay my maintenance fee monthly as an owner of an apartment but unfortunately a service person has NOT come to repair our elevators in our building. Again, Why is that? I moved into an apartment in April 2025 and I am already ready to move .I grew up here in the 70s and 80s.My parents lived in parkchester for decades. The type of tenants here sadly have changed drastically. I have someone above my apartment 4D excessive constant noise There is some kid upstairs who is running constantly for hours. I was advised to call parkchester security which I did. The lady during the lease signing advised me to check to make sure the tenants have rugs or carpeting covering their floors. ( They clearly do not have rugs or carpeting) It sounds like a fat heavy elephant is walking around. When my parents moved into parkchester decades ago it was a requirement for tenants. People blast music without any consideration for their neighbors. My floor thank goodness so far is quiet but the constant noise from above my apartment is crazy. Parkchester will not be able to retain decent tenants with these kind of people living here. Also they charge 3000 dollars to break your lease. I had a housing connect apartment which I turned down for this I should have listened to my daughter and taken the housing connect apartment. I've been here less than a month and I am ready to move. The building I grew up in people I knew cared about parkchester and tried to keep it nice I see that has changed unfortunately its sad to see what used to be a nice place to live is like the projects now. The neighborhood is fine, the Apartments are fine. However nothing really is done about the noisiness of neighbors. Noisy neighbors find loopholes how to get away with making noise. But my major complaint every single yearis that during the winter. The heat is so high it's unbearable. We have to constantly leave our windows open in the dead of winter and have our air conditioning on when we sleep. Which is a complete waste of energy to have that on during the winter. This was my first apartment. Here is everything I experienced in a year. Rent $1885 - $1998 for a 1 bedroom. Roach infestations. They are in the hall, on the doors, in the elevator... can't even open the door with out them crawling on the elevator door. The trash disposal is tiny & you are expected to go to a nearby trash room in another building to dump big trash and boxes. If you dispose of something better take your name and apartment off it cause they will charge you a FEE. If you want to install an AC it cost $150 and you have to get a specific AC that cost $500, removal is $100. You can't get it done outside of their service providers because guess what ANOTHER fee. They promote safety and security but the security does not patrol and when you call them for a lock out they take forever and guess what charge you a FEE. My apartment was broken into by a mentally ill man... in 30 seconds he kicked in a hole through my door and crawled in. I was in my apartment. Security was called on him when he got into a physical altercation with a man in a nearby building. He still managed to get into my building and break in... with time to roam my apartment and lay on my couch before security came. The quality of the door was my biggest surprise... cardboard and plaster as a front door that is meant to protect me and my belongings. One of the dirtiest places I've ever had to call home. They still blame being slow and lack luster on the pandemic but if you talk to people who have lived here prior to 2019, you'll soon find out that certain issues with parkchester is all because of their laziness and nasty lifestyles. From management down to the residents. The floors haven't been mopped in over 1.5 years. How do I know? There are stains (removable stains btw!) that are on the floor I stay on and have been here since November of 2022. They only clean the lobby and that's maybe once every two weeks. Despite what building manager say they do not have a stable porter for alot Of the buildings. And rather than hiring someone to clean this nasty ass place, they say it's nothing they can do to help. The trash rooms are so dirty that I don't use them. I walk my trash to the nearest trash can which is 5 blocks away because they removed alot of trash cans from the area. I used to call parkchester to send exterminators but now I hire my own. But their efforts are pointless because parkchester mgmt won't clean anything. I find roaches in my food. My work clothes, My closet, my pantry. I have developed a psychosis issues and my hair is falling out since moving here in 2023. I have never needed medication for my mind or mental sake until last December. I experience hallucinations multiple times a day, even at work. I always feel like theirs bugs crawling on me or on my clothes. The meds are helpful but I shouldn't have to live like this because dirty people won't do their jobs. All of the African American's are In the back of parkchester. All of Muslims and brown people are in the front of parkchester so there's no sense of community. I locked myself out once and this one lady and her daughter started to mock me and call me a darkie. Whatever that means. There are no stores near me that cater to my dietary needs because they are all dedicated to the Muslim community and the store owners and weird. They always touch my hand when I try to make transactions and they over charge my husband a lot whenever he goes to the store by himself The price for a one bed room "renovated" apartment is $2058. It was $1950 last year. The renovations are some half ass nonsense. The dishwasher wasn't bloated down to the ground as it needed to be so it broke in about a year. Under the sink was not repaired all the way and by that I mean the wall boards of under the sink weren't even touching the ground. I had to seal and Caulk up all lose floors, walls, holes and cracks with my own labor and money. It's not worth $2058 at all. I don't recommend this place at all. When you hear people talking about how safe and clean it is, please understand this, a lot of these people have come for Worse living conditions and that's why they think it's so clean over here. I was born and raised in the Bronx. The projects to be exact. I've never been robbed, followed, attacked or assaulted living here. Parkchester isn't more "Safe" it's just a neighborhood. They have crime like everywhere else in NYC. If you have kids that like To follow the wrong crowd and need a "quieter" place to live then sure but if you think this better, I'd hate to see where you're coming from. Rent goes up every year, elevators work at 70 percent capacity. Not allowed to have washer and dryers in the unit(Lots of people sneak them in anyways) they tell you no pets but if you like to pay a little more on the side, they'll let you have a pet. One watched 16 residents buy pets once people Found out it's just few extra hundred dollars to have Pets. Parkchester and castle hill train station are not wheel chair accessible. Parkchester train station should have restored escalators by 2025. And lastly the windows are one pane windows, so you hear everything inside your home. I have my tv on volume 44 to hear over the sounds of outside. And I almost got fired from job because my boss called me during a remote day and it was so noisy inside, even with the windows closed, that she assumed I was outside doing whatever I wanted. I was not and had to prove myself like some child. Not worth it. I hate parkchester. The residents, the management team and the building managers. I lived here in the past and moved out and still visit my mom. Honestly parkchester is THE worst. The elevator is always down. The little securities work for nothing. Buildings are disgusting. The owners need to come together and fight this management. The building my moms lives in doesn't even have a ramp, how are people in wheelchairs and elderly people supposed to go up the stairs to enter the building? I've lived here for over 20 years and have watched this place go downhill. The noise quality in these apartments should be the #1 reason not to move here. I can hear every step, every thump, every conversation at all hours of the day from my neighbors upstairs and next door. I've called security for 3yrs about the noise from Apt. 10C & it was pointless. They take forever to respond and when they finally show up, they never hear anything. Management does nothing to assist you and refuses to make them put down a rug or carpet and make it seem like you're the problem every time you call for help. Patricia Goree is ZERO help so don't expect her to do anything other than side with the tenant that's the disturbance. Because of the neglect of my upstairs neighbors, there was a leak in my bathroom that Parkchester management refused to take care of for 6 months. When I called to have it repaired, the lady in the maintenance department messed up the order and sent the plaster guy to cover up the damage but never scheduled the plumber. So I fought with them for the next 2 months about the leak and they continued to tell me that there was no leak. It wasn't until I called 311 and had an inspector come out to see the new damage that had come through their plaster job that Management finally investigated only to find that Apt. 10C was leaking into my bathroom. I had to wait another 2 weeks before they did anything in their apartment. They still didn't inspect my walls to see if there was further damage which the wall is starting to buckle once again. The front office is very rude and refuses to answer the simplest questions. They have no other way for you to contact them other than the office number. So expect to be on hold for at least 20-30 mins. Every year I lived here there's been scaffolding up. There are roaches throughout the building. People don't push their garbage down the chute in the incinerator. I've had garbage thrown on my air conditioner on numerous occasions. They've raised my rent, almost $200, and come up with random charges to put on the tenants. There's a ton more that's wrong with this place. Don't let the nice water fountain and pictures fool you. What they don't tell potential tenants about is the multiple violations on the complex or the hidden charges or the lack of care within the buildings. DON'T I repeat. DON'T move here. This is the worst management company. Currently a resident for 2 years and When I call for service (generally due to plumbing and flooding happening by another apartment) they do not send anyone for 48 hours minimum who then has to 'refer' it to a plumber who can possibly fix issue. As of now, been dealing with a 2 year leak in the kitchen they seem to say is 'fixed' but every 3 weeks the sink continues to overflow and cause damage and more flooding and rotting counters and mold. When you call, the folks answering the phone are sympathetic but they cannot assist you or get any actual plumbers to fix an issue. Would not recommend this place and currently lofting complaints with 311 and BBB. Will look into housing court next. read more

Please, if I could give negative stars, I would! This is the WORST management company ever! I rented at Parkchester x2 years. Initially, I was SO EXCITED to move here! Cute little neighborhood, the apartments are huge by NY standards, inexpensive by NY standards. The commute sucks, but tolerable for such a big apartment. The application process was painful. I had lived in NYC for less than 5 years, so had to get letters not only from my NY landlords but my last 2 landlords from back home. I also had to get my last 5 years of tax returns. A letter from my employer was needed plus bank statements, paycheck stubs, etc. Hassle, yes, but I did it... only for Parkchester to call and verify all the info on their own too. NOW, mind you, all of the contact info was on my application. If they were going to call anyway, why make me go through the hassle of getting the documentation?? PLUS, they don't do anything by fax, and at the time I worked way downtown in the financial district. So I was always taking off work early to haul it out to their office before 5 pm to provide the info. Whatever... I wanted the apt, so I did it. Now, I'm a renter not an owner out there. The apt's are all hardwood floors. I have to cover 85% of the floor with carpeting or area rugs. My responsibility and I have to absorb the cost. Again, not happy about this added cost, but it's an apartment I like so I do it. I moved in April 2009. July 2009, I'm home on a hot summer night, lights off, watching TV and something caught the corner of my eye. It's a mouse. They (P'chester) can't send an exterminator or service man to my place to plug up the hole unless I'm home. Even though I give permission to enter the apartment and they have keys for ALL the locks (did I mention I had to pay an additional $125 for them to install a mandatory deadbolt!?!? Since when can you rent an apartment without a lock on the damn door????). Anyway.... that got resolved, but only after the call was escalated to the manager, and under threat of further action. The living room wall, one wall in the bathroom, the walls in the bedroom and my bedroom closet were all literally crumbling. Apparently, there was water in the wall, causing the problem. It took 15, YES 15 months for them to fix the walls, and they fixed it only after I took them to court! There were signs posted several times that they were having issues with the plumming, where the toilet would flush constantly for no reason. If anyone had this problem (I did!), call their service department to schedule an appointment at no cost to the resident. So, when I called, I was right back in the same circle that they won't send anyone out for service unless I am home to let them in. The problem? That darn thing called a JOB that allows me to pay the rent every month. Needless to say, I wasn't taking yet more time off for them to fix their problem. My toilet still flushes all the time, for no reason. It's irritating for me, but it's costing them, not me. So I don't care. FINALLY my lease is up and you can bet I am so out of there. Of course, since I had to have carpeting installed, I also have to rip it up (at my cost). So, I called out to their lovely service department to see what I needed to do with the carpeting once it's ripped up. It certainly won't fit down the tiny garbage chute. I was told to just roll it up and they will pick it up, free of charge. I just needed to call back and let them know when to pick it up. I have secured a service to come and rip the stuff up, and called back to let them know when they would be able to pick it up. SHOCK OF ALL SHOCKS, now the process is different. It's amazing to me, since the procedure has changed since all of yesterday! NOW, again, I have to be home to let them in. Nevermind that I will no longer be a tenant and won't even have keys... these people are so stupid. I could go on and on about how horrible this place is. Everything that was supposed to be fixed before I moved in wasn't. Since all they do is slap a new coat of paint on everything after each tenant leaves (rather than stripping the paint off or here's a novel idea... replacing some of the cupboards that are 20 years old!), none of the doors shut tight. I had to leave all the kitchen drawers open a little, because if they closed all the way, they were stuck and wouldn't open again. The bottom line, and my whole-hearted recommendation is that these apartments are NOT worth the stress, hassle and headaches to make up for the "reasonable" rent. read more

If Yelp had a rating of 0 points or high MINUS points, that's is the true rating that I would pick for this place. I've been living in Parkchester since 2002; It's 2013 and it's time to move out. They took me to court over a washing machine THAT DOES NOT EXIST IN MY APARTMENT. Here's the funny part: anyone that owns (not rents) an apartment here in Parkchester are allowed to have a washing machine in their apartment, but tenants can't. One would think that the rule of NO WASHING MACHINE would apply to EVERYONE that lives on the premises, but obviously it does not. How did I find this out? When I spoke to one of the reps at Bronx Civil Court about this issue, that is exactly what she told me. And she lives here in Parkchester too. My lease is up (FINALLY) in March 2014. I am NOT renewing it, I will be moving out of here due to the unfair treatment and unnecessary court dates that they did against me in July 2013 and September 2013 over stupid reasons. I've always used the Laundromat either downstairs or elsewhere if the Laundromat downstairs was crowded. For some reason Management "imagined" that I had a machine in my apartment. If I had to do it all over again back in 2002, I would have never moved here. This place sucks and so does the Management, Legal and Security Departments. I cannot wait to move out of here in March. I won't even step foot on this place again, not even to visit someone. My advice? Move here if you want to, but you will soon find out that it is not a great place to live. Management is always ready to sue their tenants over the most stupid reasons. Mine happened to be about a washing machine that doesn't exist. There are other better apartment complexes within the NY/NJ area that you can invest your money and time in where the Management doesn't act like assholes. Well, I renewed my lease for one more year in Parkchester, and I will say that there have been improvements. The security presence is much more noticeable. There were some crime issues with some derelicts from neighboring communities coming into Parkchester to deal drugs and there were even some incidents of murder. So you see security out and about morning/noon/night, either on foot patrol or in vehicles. They built a new security post down by Archer Avenue, which is where the derelicts trickle from and into the complex. Maintenance is very good at keeping the grounds and buildings clean, and answer service calls in a timely manner. Now they are going to upgrade all the water fixtures throughout the complex. There is still ongoing construction across the grounds, with the medians and pipes. I saw some new fencing popping up in the medians and the new vintage lamps have gone up, as well. My upstairs neighbor either left on her own or was evicted. Either way, she's gone. The new neighbors are MUCH much quieter. It doesn't sound like the Thanksgiving Day Parade is coming through the upstairs apartment every night. PEACE AND QUIET!!!!!!!! :) :) On the negative side, a lot of businesses have shut down so there are tons of vacant storefronts that are always getting demo'd/gutted but nothing is opening up. But, an Applebee's and Blink Fitness opened last year. I'm curious to see what is going to be done with all this empty real estate. It would be nice to see different types of restaurants open up. You can only do so much with a ton of spanish or chinese spots and pizzerias all over the complex. A variety of food and stores would greatly improve the area. Maybe a better pharmacy. Walgreens sells nothing you need, the mom and pop pharmacies sell no name brands and I'm on the opposite end of the Duane Reade...a Rite Aid would be GREAT. Both Rite Aids in the area are too far to walk to... It would be nice if they just upgraded all the bathrooms and kitchens like those "contemporary" apartments have. I only pay $100 less a month than the "contemporary" apartments are leased at...so...come on. Let me have some stainless steel, wood and marble! read more

If you ever need anything as a renter you'll need to call the parkchester preservation customer service number where you'll be put on hold for an 1-2 hours and get the worst customer Support ever. I just moved in here yesterday and have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. The application process was lengthy but painless; everyone I dealt with was easy to get in contact. My apartment is incredible for the price, close to my job (I teach in SoBro), the area's clean and beautiful, and the residents are nice people; a little boy told me, "welcome!" as I was moving in. My biggest regret in life was renting from Parkchester! STAW AWAY! Don't rent, don't buy, don't get caught up in the false pictures and luxury crap that they are promoting! There is nothing "luxury" about the renovated apartments. I have one and the wall paper on the cabinets rip apart easily just from opening the drawers and cabinets. There are water bugs in the lobby and mice. Maintenance workers are clearly not doing a great job. I keep my apt clean and still get roaches here and there. I just don't understand how!!! If you have children, beware of the hot water, you can get burned easily as soon as you turn it on! The bedrooms, bathroom and closets do not have a lock on them so if you want privacy you would have to get locks yourself smh The heat is controlled by them so basically good luck. Some days you are roasting in your apartment when it's above 55 degrees out and other days you are freezing when it's below 30 out. They do not follow temperature regulations! There is a leak from the tub above mine in my bathroom that has yet to be repaired and it's been months since I reported it! Forget about calling the service Dept. They are understaffed and angry all the time. How is it my fault that the tub above mine is leaking and causing damage to my walls ? Don't be upset at the residents, instead be understanding and patient and contact your boss and care about what's going on as if it were your place with the damages. The rent is too high for this type of nonsense. Oh beware of their market value apartments! They can charge you whatever they want when it's time to renew the lease. They never go over this when you sign your paperwork! My rent went up $114 bucks mind you no repairs have been done! I've been living here for almost 3 years and every single year they raise your rent by almost $200 and they say "its for maintenance and to make the building better" every week the elevator is out, people throw diapers in the trash chute, the building is infested with cockroaches and flies, water is always out and disgusting (beyond drinkable), and the heat is managed by the building so even if your cold there is no way YOU can turn it on you would have to just sit there and stay cold. im leaving at the end of this month and would rather be homeless then to ever stay here ever again. if you thought i was overreacting i will post all the pictures i took from today October 20th 2019. read more

As a result my elderly moms apartment has been accessed by local maintenance staff and video cameras have been placed in her home. Her home is repeatedly vandalized when she leaves the apartment in hopes to terrorize her and force her to move out. I've lived in Parkchester on and off since 2006. Pro's: I can say it's close to many modes of transportation, laundry, schools, shopping areas, some affordable child care and that's pretty much all you are paying for; is the convenience of having everything easily accessed. Con's: For the amount of money each tenant pays to live here, you are faced with an occasional roach or three riding the elevator with you or walking into your apartment as if it pays rent. God forbid you don't have a air conditioner in your apartment because you will swelter to death. There is a lack of ventilation in apartments, hallways and elevators. Good luck trying to get an affordable Air conditioner. Due to the special measurement requirements for the windows, Air conditioners are expensive to fit Parkchester windows in bedrooms or living rooms. Cleanliness is a matter of opinion. Some buildings are better than others. It depends on how dirty your neighbors might be. I do see maintenance try their best to maintain and clean the property but most times it seems like a losing battle in certain buildings. Hopefully you can get an apartment with an updated kitchen and bathroom. Some private owners who sublease to tenants don't do any upgrades. Parkchester bathrooms and kitchens are small. Imagine having a small bathroom or kitchen that is rusted, not well ventilated, paint peeling, and gas pipe to your stove eroding. Look out for these things. Parkchester should force owners to have property inspections to maintain the overall quality of each unit. They don't. If you rent straight from Parkchester...they take better care of the apartment. Cost in Parkchester is always rising. The rent goes up each time you resign a lease (ballooning rent). The rental application fee keeps going up as well. Now it's $150 just for the application process each time you renew your lease. They force residents to pay $150 for parking stickers (but parking is still first come, first served) you may not get parking even if you pay for the sticker, $108.38 for air conditioner installment, $43.35 to remove Air conditioners when you move Any other issue like lost keys, something needs to be fixed...just expect to pay...just expect these fees to keep rising. You have to get a "moving in" permit for your U-haul and a "moving out" permit for your U-haul or you will get a fine. Security isn't the greatest. If you call about noise complaints, or your neighbor smoking weed...don't bother. No one cares but you. read more

I have lived in Parkchester for 11 years now. We are a family of four, including 2 young children. This is a residential community and we have always felt safe in the neighborhood. Parkchester allows you to see three apartments before you decide which one you want to rent. We live close to the oval in a building with small hallways. This is nice since we know everyone on our floor. Management has always responded to repairs in a timely manner. It is frustrating to go to the laundrymat every week. The local public school is not appealing to us but there is a charter school and affordable catholic schools to enroll the children in. The commute to midtown is easy but it is very hard to find parking during the days. I recommend parkchester to my friend it is affordable and provides a residential feel with huge apartments. read more

One star because I can't give them minus stars. There parking policy is first come first serve basis. So why are they dening residents to purchase a parking permit. The receptionist said it because they had staff stay late on certain days to to purchase the parking stickers. Security told me that they ran out of stickers. Parkchester, generally speaking is a fine place to live. Whenever I call for service I receive it promptly. It is kept fairly clean, groomed, but from time to time a neighbor will leave their refuse in the hall, although it rarely happens. Those tenants need reminding and fined if rules aren't followed. Parkchester has conveniences such as supermarkets, Macys', Starbucks, and other...unfortunately, there are some stores that have closed. A Health Food Store and some cafes would improve and benefit the neighborhood greatly. There is an Express bus into the city and the Lexington #6 line is near by. There is a #6 Express train in the a.m. going downtown and returning to the Bronx in the p.m.. Parkchester, is close to major highways. A MetroNorth train station is planned within the next 5 years which will serve as a great convenience for those heading upstate and the city. As in any neighborhood there are pros and cons. The City would be wise to make repairs to our streets improving the quality of life. I recommend Parkchester. People make their neighborhood. Waste of time! Applied for these apartments through the parkchester site. Was called two days later to schedule the interview.. I received an email with all the information needed for my interview which believe me was ALOT! Including a $60 money order because we were two applicants. My interview was today arrived promptly with all the requested documents super excited only to be told not even 10 minutes that because my sister (co-applicant) hadnt been employed for a whole year we didnt qualify! Boy was I f$$$king pissed! Mostly because it was clear as day when I filled out the application online and they asked for employment information that she had a 4 month gap in employment. I was advised when I had finished the online application that if I/we qualified they would call us for the interview but then we get there only to have wasted our damn time. The lady that was doing our interviews suggested we take out a loan for 22K which would be equal to a year rent so we could pay a whole year rent and just have to pay the loan monthly which made no sense considering the fact that she told us again once we got there that the waiting list for a 2 bed room was 3+ months. I held my cool while I was there but I was so madddddd!! Dont waste your time or money with these people. read more

Terrible experience with Parkchester Management. I've only been in the apartment for one month and there is a loud sound coming from the pump in the basement located just beneath my apartment. The noise is persistent, and management keeps giving me the run around. My 4 yr old daughter has a hard time sleeping and is afraid. I love the apartment layout, rent is affordable, just wish the management team was responsive to my complaints. read more

I applied for a one bedroom apartment at Parkchester last month, went to two interviews and got a letter of approval dated 6/27/19. I called on Monday because my phone has been giving me problems and I wanted to add a second number to my file. When the person I spoke to was searching for me in the system I couldn't be found, when I was found I was transferred to the director because all of the sudden the requirements were raised and I no longer qualified for the apartment, which is upsetting because I had already been approved and wasted time waiting for a call to go see it and move in. I don't think is fair that the requirements were changed beginning of July and I had to call and find out this way, someone should be calling all the tenants that applied so they can move on and not waste time waiting and the money for the application should be reimbursed because I personally wouldn't have applied if I was out of range for the requirements. I believed that Parkchester was supposed to be affordable luxury apartments in the Bronx accessible and is the total opposite. If someone would've told me beginning of July that the requirements were changed I would've looked some place else and not wasted exactly a month waiting for a call that was never received. The person I spoke to yesterday said I would be receiving a reimbursement for the application fee which I hope I do because I didn't back out of it you guys did which is a lousy way to do business and to better the Bronx which is what you should be doing. read more

We applied online and automatically got denied (feels like a scam filing online for the $25 fee) even though we meet all the requirements. 2 days after we got an email saying that we are prequalified, when I called to set up the interview we got turn down since we are moving from a different state and can't provide pay stubs from NYC (of course I can't - I don't live in NYC yet) and the job abcentance letter which includes the salary is "not enough evidence". read more

Parkchester management is very rude and unprofessional. The management threw away my belongings without any notification. She said she called and left a message to myself and my emergency contact but didn't count for the fact that my emergency contact and i have lived under the same roof since i moved out. If she did call i would have known but they had no problem tracking me down for money. The service is less than par. When I lived there I had a loss of power in my apartment and lived in the dark for two weeks before anyone came and fixed the problem and when I called the management made it seem as if them not responding was my fault because i have to work. The toilet wouldn't flush and stayed like that because they would not send anybody to come fix it. read more

Only move to Parkchester if you have no other options. Awful management especially when it comes to the carpet policy, If you have no other option and can only afford this place I suggest you take a top floor apartment because if your neighbor above you has no carpet you will be stuck living with constant elephant sounding footsteps, talking, dropping of items on the floor and TV or radio sounds above you every single day and night. Don't bother calling management because they will tell you to call security and security won't do diddly. Be lucky if they even show up when you call because this kind of issue is not important to them. read more

I'm not one to complain even if I see problems that need to be addressed I try and address them myself. BUT now I'm mad, really mad. When moving in, our sink wasn't changed (nasty) it has mold inside & you can see it through a hole (I tried my best to clean and sanitize it) still distrubing and gross. Another thing there's openings on so many places on the floors and again I myself covered them with tape & its not the cutest but it did the job. The bathroom tiles (both wall and floors) were given to us in horrible condition, so unsymmetrical and uneven paint etc. The kitchen window is faulty. While construction was being done outside our kitchen window they knocked on our window & let us know that the windows don't close all the way from the outside & that resulted in debris falling in and me having to clean it up every 5 minutes. The heater system sucks, this building has roach problems & these heaters are home for them & for spiders. People leaving garbage including a huge lamp making it impossible to trash anything. So much money spent on bug and roach products because we didn't want to bother the office. I am disgusted with how we're being treated and I will NOT recommend living here to anyone!! EVER! Rushinng us to get a carpet when I am unemployed & other person doesn't have enough money to go & buy $500 worth of carpet unplanned with little time. This is an insane rule & having a carpet will result in more dust & an extra chore to me when I already have back problems. Not only that, over 25% of people living in these buildings do NOT have carpet and you want to pick and choose who you annoy?!?! It is unfair & you should knock on every single door, every single building & see who doesn't have a carpet. That attracts more bugs anyways which is already a part of your building. The carpets should be supplied and installed. Moral of the story to Parkchester office, don't worry about the small things when you have way bigver things to worry about. read more

I've personally applied for an apartment here in March 2016, and from the start of the process everything went smooth. However after receiving my approval letter i guess you can say the honeymoon period was over. I called in and spoke with Ms.Lisa Garcia, as the approval letter suggested, and she informed me that an apartment wouldn't be available until June. She said nothing more, nothing less, just that an apartment wouldn't be available until June. That wasn't a problem for me at all. So i suspended my apartment search and said i'll wait until June. So fast forward to May 9th, before my vacation, i decided to call to get an update on the apartment situation because i'm a single guy and i have to begin to get everything in order as far as delivers, days off at work, etc. So i attempted to get in contact with Ms.Garica but i got her voicemail. No problem, so i left her a message. The following week i return back to the country, and noticed i haven't received a message,missed call, or anything. Still no big problem, so i called Ms.Garcia again, voice mail. So i processed to leave her another voice message. 3 weeks later, a week away from June still no call back no nothing. I decided to look to speak to someone else but everytime i call no one could help me. i was told the only person that could help me was Ms.Garcia who at this point didn't return any of my messages i left for the past 3 weeks. It is unacceptable for any company to have a potential client/tenant waiting like this for a simple follow up call. The follow up system is horrendous! So it this point i already suspended my apartment search and haven't received a call back yet and i'm extremely upset. I began to research the company looking to speak to anyone above Ms.Garica obivously her follow up process was broken, terrible , non existence or whatever you want to call it. Now the companies website provides you with little to no info. At this point the attorney in my office begins to tell me this whole operation seems to be a scheme by the company still taking appilcation fees and such and then having no means of contact with the potential tenant after receiving it, but i' wasn't even in that mindset. all i wanted was an update on my apartment status, so that i could start to arrange my life in the weeks to come. So i noticed on the bottom of this approval letter the Director of Leasing & Marketing was a gentleman by the name of Carlos Ortiz. So i decided to reach out to him. I called the general number and asked to be transferred to Mr.Ortiz, and you guessed it, he wasn't available. So me being the determined person i am, i told myself let me reach out to Mr.Ortiz again toady 5/24/16. So i called in and asked to be transffered to Mr.Ortiz and i was transfferd to a young lady by the name of Stephine, who i explained my whole situation to and she told me i could get you directly to Ms.Gracia. Now at this point i really had no desire to speak to Ms.Gracia. As a supervisor in the legal department of a finance company, I know when a client is upset and has been through an ordeal such as mine, i would personally go above and beyond to handle that situation myself, but i didn't feel like fighting i was finally transffered directly to Ms.Garcia. Now you would think once she gets on the phone she would be apologetic for not returning any of the messages i left for the past 3 weeks. LoL, not at all, she takes the call nonchantly with some what of an attitude as if i did something to her and tried to turn it on me, as if i should've know how the management office operates. Stating she informed me she would call me in June. Feeling defeated, and like i just wasted the last 2 months of my life waiting for something. I began to think, if this is how they treat their potential tenants, i can't even imagine how they treat their actual tenants. do not waste your time movin here. they make temporary fixes so they can move people in faster. ive lived here 2 months and in the first 2 weeks of being here water damage happened in my room from the top floor resident. they are pretty quick with having someone inspect your apartment but when it comes to the fixing part they take forever and a day. they rent is to high for so many problems. a week after the 2 weeks toilet issues then a tub issue with a leak and they creating another issue of water stain/leak on the opposite wall of the bathroom (which is my bedroom). 2 months in and just a disaster or problems shouldve never moved here just tried to be closer to work and had the nerve to make me pay 2x's the deposit. the receptionist isnt to bad except this one squirt mouth in the legal department, her mouth moved faster than her thoughts and she wouldnt let me get a word out without her interrupting shes lucky she didnt state her name. do not waste your time or money here read more

We moved to Parkchester in 2011 when we first moved in the neighbor it was okay meaning we felt a little safe. You had the Public Safety Police patrolling the area and including the buildings. As time pass by they have stopped patrolling in the building. The Manager of Parkchester has been replaced about 3 times within the 5 years living in the community. Residents are not allowed to have washing machine, not allow to mount a AC of their own and WE must purchase the AC that Parkchester are requesting for you to buy; living room AC cost over 1,000.00 and the bedrooms about 400.00 each that is not including parkchester mounting each AC. Parking lots in Parkchester really sucks you pay 125.00 a year and first come first serves it is not your own personal parking space. I had numerous arguments because of the parking spots. Sometimes you feel trap because your not able to move your car and not to mention sometimes looking for parking over an hour. In addition families who has children and teens there is no programs for them. My biggest mistake before moving in was not doing my research of Parkchester. I really need to move out Parkchester has become a housing project. read more
