I'm a tenant for over 3 years. I won't even get into the continuous issues related to the building. However I will say that I maintain my apartment to a certain standard, there was a flood in my apartment due to a neighbor leaving running water. My rug was damaged in the process but saved a lot of furniture by absorbing and creating a barrier to keep the water from getting further into my apartment. This occurred in February, I've been calling down the general manager for my building and the insurance claims specialist, whom never responded. I emailed. It's shameful that people have jobs but don't want to do them effectively. Especially when you're serving others and providing services that adhere to their shelter! I have receipts, I won't be chasing, I'll just go to small claims court. Any apartment rentals you see from this management company, keep scrolling. Save yourself the trouble. Terrible service, there are a few good employees in the office and maintenance workers who are helpful, but they are overworked too and don't have all the answers. My building, 587 Gates Ave in Brooklyn has never had sufficient heat and I've been living here for 27 years. No matter how many complaints with emails, phone calls and texts to previous managers and the current manager, my neighbors and I continue to be cold. HPD was called but still no improvement in the heating issue. The radiators are old, rusty and inefficient. My building also needs video cameras which I have been fighting for for years but no video camera. I'm always being told that they're working on it. There are people living in this building illegally, who litter in the building, break the lock on the gate and jam the front door of the building so it stays open. I've reported this to the manager numerous times with no results. My messages are ignored. read more

Where do I even begin? A few years back my family and I learn that apartment management is being transferred to C+C as they begin mandatory neighborhood-wide renovations. This February was finally our time for the temporary move. We returned in mid April. Not even a month in our new place, here are some things we've dealt with so far regarding management before I get into the main point that made me write this. Out of courtesy I will not be naming the moving company that helped us since this is a C+C review. The reason then for why mentioning the movers is relevant is because they were hired by management to assist with the relocations and, as you'll read in a moment, C+C didn't take responsibility for the movers' errors despite explicitly stating they would. - Furniture items that were too big to package ourselves would be returned to us damaged. - My brother and I's bed frames were custom-made, and very large and heavy, so we wanted to be absolutely sure that the movers could handle disassembling and reassembling it. They said yes, and we left it at that. Come April and the bed frames return sawed in half; all they did in front of us was push the two halves back together as if it was going to magically weld itself. - They brought us two pieces of furniture that wasn't ours, and never bothered taking them back. - They lost my mom's bed frame. - Overall, we called C+C multiple times about the above problems. They couldn't fix the frames and my mom's remains lost. We at least got reimbursed for the lost frame only, but it took a long ass time, pardon my French. - On the day we moved back, workers with paint buckets were still walking in and out of our unit; in other words, they waited until the very last minute to finish the job. It shows too, because many bottom corners were hastily done and have stray streaks of paint. - Some things like the windowsills were obviously not renovated and just painted over; we can still make out the old shape of them underneath. - Every room came with these huge, irremovable boxes installed into the windows that serve as bases for air conditioning units. They had contracted someone to help tenants install their ACs when ready, and when he came he just lifted the ACs into the bases and used tape to keep them in place, no screws or nothing. Sure it works but looks extremely ugly, for lack of a better word. If I knew that was all he was going to do, I would've "installed" them myself. Okay. Now what I created this account to write about. There have been construction workers doing something on the building's roof ever since we moved back, and nearly a month later they haven't finished. On every day except the weekend, there will be shouting, drilling, machinery, etc., on the roof. We're on the top floor, so we're right below it all. Since this morning we've been calling C+C about a leak in our ceiling, in my brother's room, suspecting that one of the workers accidentally punctured the roof or a pipe. It was actually there since the night before but management was closed, so we waited. The first guy comes at around 7am, takes photos of the leakage then says he'll be back, and leaves. 10am rolls around and we call again because he never returned. A different guy comes in and does the exact same thing, never comes back. Third guy who came at 2pm specifically told us this time that he can't do anything until the construction workers on the roof finish their work for the day. We thought, fine. When the work above stopped at around 4, we call C+C. The representative tells us that the third guy is already on the roof, inspecting the damage. We found it strange that he didn't knock beforehand to let us know he would start doing that. When we try going up there ourselves, whaddya know, nobody is there. And the management office is closed again. This move has overall been a huge pain as a family of three having lived here for over 25 years, and C+C has only made it worse. Yet today Julissa DeJesus calls me this morning asking me for more paperwork. SO WHY SEND ME THE LEASE THEN? She discriminated against me because I AM BLACK. Poor management and if you are a decent person and a working person you won't be able to rest in your apartment. Jumping, banging noises all times of the night and mornings. CC Management / Stanley Presveration don't give a darn about the disruptive tenants you have to deal with they won't do anything about it. What they will discuss is your RENT with you. The outside of the buildings landscaping is cute but the inside is continuously decaying . The Linden Houses were built in 1958 and most of the pipes are rusted and never replaced or repaired. New management painted over damage walls using what seems to be the cheapest paint and plastering. All the renovations inside the apartment including appliances stove, new refrigerator where your food constantly spoils. They built a parking lot three years ago and to date the tenants can't park their cars in it and if you do management will have your car towed. What was once a yard of grass where some of the children in the neighborhood played is now a parking lot that no one can utilize. Once last thing if you are afraid of "pitbull" dogs this place has hundreds or more of them running around with careless owners that believe its OK for the dogs to be off the leash. I love dogs but for some that are fearful of dogs this is what you will encounter along with dog fecies and urine every where including the terraces, hallways and elevators. read more

I dont use yelp often but C+C is absolute trash. These apartments are essentially run by a slumlord. For example, a high-rise tower with hundreds of residents that has 4 elevators, often 2 are working AT BEST. A laundry unit that somehow breaks down even more than those raggedy elevators and nobody refunds you for the money they stole from a broken machine! They're beginning to push residents to pay for utilities AND want to raise rent. Oh let's not forget how much the water goes out because y'all cant even fix a water system properly. No heat? no problem... just accept it! Air conditioner down? who cares. do you really think heat stroke is bad? Y'all truly are the Eric Adams of property management. The only thing missing is spitting on our faces and selling our bank information overseas. Beside painting the walls white and slathering some cheap wood panels on the entrance of the sliding doors, what have you done beside make every tenant's lives in this building worse? If there was no stars i would definitely leave at NO STARS. C+C management are NOT GOOD AT ALL. They NEVER respond/call back. If you email them they never respond as well. My Air Conditioners haven't worked in almost 4 years. I contacted the super and the apartment management office REPEATEDLY. Also, I am recently divorced and have an Order Of Protection against my ex husband. I gave all the information regarding the matter and they still say they NEED ME to contact my ex husband to get him to sign a relinquish form knowing that violates the order of protection. My ex husband purposely changed the address so the recertification forms and the rent stubs could be sent to him instead of me. I have repeatedly spoken with management REPEATEDLY about this situation and they ignore it or dismiss it. It's unprofessional and unacceptable i hope everything clears up with C+C management because it's been 3 YEARS! yes 3 years! I stopped paying rent because they haven't fixed my air conditioners and they haven't responded yet regarding my situation with my ex husband. read more

Please do not live in any building managed by these guys. They write very lose, very vague leases which have no exit terms. We had severe pest infestation in our apartment, these guys did nothing. Update. This is my 11th year in the building. The violent tenant is gone. C&C sold the building to another company without informing the tenants. We found out via notices posted in the lobby and elevators after it was completed. The new management company facilitated tenant meetings at the beginning of the year with what they will be doing to increase safety/the appearance in the building. Havent heard from them since and no changes have been made. The new management company uses their own property management services. Building staff is okay and adjusting (we lost our super and porter to this change unfortunately due to the intense micromanaging of the new management company). Building management isnt so great and verbally belittles the tenants. It's clear their goal is to get tenants out so they can repaint apts and rent them at a way higher fee. Disappointing and scary. read more

And by all means yes you should have a right to play your music, but do I have to listen to it no I should not hear my neighbors music inside my apartment. C&C management claims that you can play your music as loud as you want up until 10PM, so ghetto so until then you have to hear your neighbors music after you come home thinking that you are going to relax, not happening. The WORST most unresponsive management company. The "customer service" staff is rude and hangs up on you or transfers you to a mailbox that doesn't take messages. I moved into a new apartment that was supposedly just renovated and there have been endless problems - a nasty smell from leaking sewage due to improperly installed washing machine that it took months to repair, a broken balcony door that I have not been able to close for 3 months and they just ignore my emails. They did not disclose before I signed my lease and moved in that because of construction the terrace doors would be locked for months, they would not clean the windows which are FILTHY until construction is done which will be over a year. I would not move into this building again if I'd known what a disaster this experience would be. read more

I lived in a unit managed by C&C for less than one year. In that time, I was subjected to living with sewer water seeping into my ceiling and walls for over half of the time living there. The management company and their maintenance crew jerked me around back and forth for the entire time - arriving when the leak was wet saying it had to be dry to fix it and then coming back when it was dry saying it had to be wet for them to fix the leak. Not to mention, they kept trying to convince me it was an overflow issue, when the information from the upstairs neighbor was consistently that no overflow had occurred. Finally, two days before I vacated my unit (after the SIXTH time my bathroom ceiling had flooded), I learned that the toilet above me had a bad wax seal and sewer water had been leaking into my walls and ceiling for months. I was forced to vacate my unit a month prior to my lease being up because I couldn't live in a home hemorrhaging sewer water any longer.... and I had to pay for that month's rent despite it being dangerous for my health to remain in the unit. I asked C&C to work with me for my health and safety and they had no desire to help or care for my well being. Now, I'm having to fight with them to get my security deposit back (I have photographic proof that the unit was signed off by their representative with no damage or reason to withhold the deposit). Per NY law, it was supposed to be returned within 14-days. It's been 26-days and they will not respond to my emails (despite reading my emails within 30-minutes of me sending them). Do not rent from C&C Management. You will regret it. read more

The c&c management at Stanley preservation is not helpful at all. I lived under management for a entire year with a backed up toilet and tub. I literally had to leave home to use the bathroom. Also dealing with issue to be transferred to head household and my paper work has gone no where. Which they started off with the wrong paper work the 1st time and said it was my fault. Terrible management and the management wanted me to submit photos for work done instead of the workers doing their job. read more

This company severely neglects disabled tenants. As you can see from these photos, I've been living in very poor conditions without any relief, very little maintenence or repair. Any repair done is done so poorly that other issues surface. I'm dealing with an infestation of mice and rats and when asked the super Robert Solano rat traps he said he forgot to provide them the day they were requested. I've been asking for a transfer since 2015 and I've been denied or my application moved so that they can accommodate other tenants within the company and building. Please do not rent with this company I have sustained serious medical conditions that lead to death. Please go elsewhere. read more

They don't respect them for being porters. I go to the manager office and Joe is sitting there talking about them. We have moved in Mid august and our dishwasher stopped working a month back. Since then we are struggling to get to the right person in C & C management to get it repaired or replaced. I live in a C & C affordable apartment in Greenpoint and I love my building. The best part about it is our superintendent, Luis! He keeps our building clean and safe. I seriously cannot thank him enough for everything he does for us! He's the best. I think people give C & C poor reviews because they don't understand how many buildings this company has to manage. Sometimes it takes awhile to get something resolved with the overall management office, but they have always taken great care of me and do the best they possibly can with the resources they have. read more

Should be called Slum Lord Property Management. Buildings are disgusting, filthy, unsanitary and management refuses to do anything about it. I have personally learned that this is across multiple properties. It seems as if this property management company has acquired a number of building in lower income neighborhoods throughout NYC so that they don't have to tend to anything other than collecting rent. If you fall behind or don't pay your rent they will for sure hit you with a lawsuit. Even if the error is on their part, but God forbid you have an emergency in your apartment like a leak or a flood, your wall is caving in or there is a short in your light fixture, then it's your problem to deal with while they drag their feet. God forbid they do anything about the loitering, solicitation and illegal activity going on outside of their buildings. I am personally sick of it and cannot wait until I am able to move. read more

So here is my venture into crazy world in regards to trying to find affordable apartments in this city. I sent in a application over 3 months ago trying to get a 1 bedroom apartment that is as close to $1000 as possible. Being that rentals have spiraled way out of control in NYC. So I've called at least once a month to keep being told that they are still trying to process applications from September-October. Then the lady, who was a little nice, states that they still do not have one bedrooms available (though they keep posting on Craigslist). And if, the application comes up (3months later), and they do not have any apartments available, they will send a letter to let me know and I would have to resubmit an application. Huh? So your telling me that this is like a lottery? I would have to wait, and be lucky enough to possibly have a 1 bedroom available when they finally get to my application, whenever that is... Cra-cray! And then if I see one I would have to resubmit an application that might not get processed for another 3-6 months. What sense does that make? Madness! read more

Eww! I filed an application for housing 11/7/2014 by email. The company states in their automatic email response, the process take 2-4 weeks. After 3 weeks, I began calling to follow up weekly. No one knew where it was. EVERY SINGLE TIME. After 10 minutes on the phone they "find it". They tell me it will be another "few weeks/2-4 weeks". Almost like a script. Updated: It is over 2 months since I've filed. Still waiting. These people are incredibly unorganized. I wonder what it will be like to be a tenant if this is the unprofessional behavior I see already. The security staff is incredibly unprofessional. She talks to potential renters so venomously. Appalling. DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT FROM THIS COMPANY. They misplaced 4 months worth of my rent checks/threatened me with their lawyers - when I gave them proof of all my checks and the days in which they were cashed by the company, they half heartedly apologized for the "accounting error". Upon moving, it took 50+ days for a confirmation of returning my security deposit (I'm still waiting for the deposit) claiming that it was delayed due to a change in employment. The only reason the company deserves 1 star is because my property manager, Ivo, and super, Carlos, were great. The accounting department at this company, i.e. the people handling your money, are unprofessional and horrendous. I never write reviews, but the incredibly stressful experience I've had with this company encouraged me to warn others. Yes, the apartments are affordable and clean, but such grave accounting errors should never occur when renting from a large company - and they put me through the run around with both situations. This management company has taken such good care of me. I landed an affordable apartment in Greenpoint in a beautiful new building. The super (Luis) and his assistant (Shakur) are genuinely good people. They are kind and thoughtful and go out of their way to take care of their tenants. I really appreciate them for all their hard work and always friendly disposition. The staff at the Park Ave. office were patient and helpful even though they had a waiting room packed with demanding, difficult people. The man who took me through the application process (David), the woman who helped me sign the lease, and the other lady who gave me a walk through of the apartment were all really nice and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Yes, doing paperwork and going through the application process is stressful. Yes, you have to submit paperwork and more paperwork and then even more paperwork. But that's how the affordable housing process goes... I showed up to the task and now I have an amazing, rent-stabilized home. I think the reason this management company is getting bad reviews is because people are all salty that they haven't landed an apartment because either: a. They just straight up didn't qualify. b. Were simply too lazy to handle their paperwork. -or- c. They don't understand how the housing lottery works. read more

I don't live in this C&C location on Park Avenue , I live in the 205 Avenue C residence. I couldn't find it on yelp so that's why I'm leaving a review here. Hmm where do I start? All the housing managers we had since C&C took over my building are very rude, unprofessional and don't have a capability to show any kind of courtesy. They act like they are doing us a favor by letting us live there. Just because it's affordable housing, they feel like can treat us like shit and it makes makes me furious. I don't know who is hiring these people and where they are getting them from but NONE of them are competent to do their job right. They all lack people skill. The lil receptionist there (John) is very sarcastic (smirky) , he lies and doesn't know what he is taking about. This new manager I'm hearing about alot of people complaining about her already. If these people have an attitude about doing their job why don't they just quit?!?! I can go into specific about my personal experiences but it would be too long for anyone to read lol For anyone who wants to apply based on the appearance of the building (from the outside the building looks decent making you feel like it's a possible place you want to move to) looks can be deceiving. DO NOT APPLY FOR AN APARTMENT HERE. !! Always an issue with the elevators not working!! Someone moved out because their rent increased a considerable amount! I'm shocked to see that people have had such horrible experiences. My experience has been quite the opposite. First, before you apply for housing anywhere, you must make sure that you have everything in order. I came prepared with everything they needed and made sure that I honored every appointment that I had with them. A month or two later, I now have an apartment in one of their luxury affordable housing units. I feel extremely blessed and thankful. read more
