I contacted this company because I had an old painting that was given to me by my grandmother. She got it from her sister who was a private nurse for a wealthy gentleman back in the early 1900's. I brought the painting to Parker Art and met with Earl who was an amazing guy, engaging and so knowledgeable. We immediately felt confident that this guy was not only talented in his profession but also wanted to help and advise his clients. Earl was honest and explained the process to rejuvenate the painting which was quite complex. This time consuming project came with a high price tag if the job was done well. Earl called me the next day to inform me after testing the painting to determine authenticity, he thought the artwork was not really valuable and wanted to inform me about this BEFORE I committed to the restoration of the work. How very honest and sincere this man is. How many businesses would do this. I would recommend Earl and his wife Karen to anyone needing honest high quality work. My great aunt purchased an oil painting in 1937. My grandmother, then mother, then I inherited this painting. My aunt, grandmother and mother were smokers and the painting and its original fram were filthy and damaged. I visited Earl and Karen Parker - the artists and owners - who were both remarkable and very lovely people. Earl evaluated the painting and the frame and shared that restoration would make a significant difference. That written, he was also very honest that the restoration might cost more than the worth of the painting itself. I had picked up a large sketch of a P-51 Mustang about twenty years ago. The drawing had been sketched and signed by the artist Joe Plummer in 1989. The sketch was in a protective plastic sleeve when I bought it and stayed there until recently. When I finally decided to frame it, I saw that the paper was discolored along the whole side near the sleeve opening. There was no way to hide the discoloration, it would have been obvious had I framed the sketch like that. I contacted Parker Restoration to see what could be done. Earl took the time to explain what was wrong and told me the processes that they would use to clean up the paper without affecting the drawing. He is very warm and easy to talk to. Earl, Karen and Julia did an amazing job restoring three small oil paintings that were painted by our great grandfather. They were so yellow having been covered in layers of varnish and tobacco and dirt. After the restoration the colors just popped off the canvas board and Harry's talent really came through. One of the paintings had chipped off paint in quite a few places and now it is just like new. Amazing! We love how they turned out and we really enjoyed meeting Earl and Karen and learning about the whole process that restoration takes to make it beautiful again. Superb work! I took in a charcoal drawing that my grandmother had done while a student at Phila Acad of Fine Arts circa 1907. There was significant acid damage and one corner was torn and had a large tape stain. They did a masterful job in cleaning it up and making the tear and the stain disappear. It looks fabulous! I wasn't sure initially if I should even bother having the piece restored, but when I showed it to Earl he told me it was a worthy piece of art deserving of restoration. Highly recommended! They did two oil paintings that were from the early 1800's, and brought back details that had been covered in grime and dirt for too many years, restoring both ancestors to their former glory. I was so impressed that I asked them to restore a younger oil painting, and they were able to bring out even more details.
