We recently built in St. James. Awful experience. Didn't show up when scheduled. Our landscaping with Parker was over $28K. Once spring arrived and things started to bloom we knew we had a problem. Numerous dead plantings, one expensive tree and new Bermuda sod that once it came out of dormancy was a field of weeds. Took weeks for someone to come out view the mess. He determined that it was due to the harsh winter. They planted everything in the Winter! And, all landscapers that I have dealt with have guaranteed their work and plants for a year. I recently had a house built in St James Plantation, Southport NC and one of the mistakes I made was selecting John Parker Landscaping. I selected them because they provided me with a plan that looked great, included plants that I wanted and was within my $10000 budget (except for the upgraded zoysia sod I chose). The execution of said plan was far from what was promised. The landscaping was done early March 2016. The plan called for 112 plants and 4 trees...I know I was missing a tree and then I decided to count the plants and realized that I only had 102!. Specific plants that were promised were never planted and rather than turn over the ground in the back of my property and treat for weeds, they simply threw pine straw mulch so it is now nothing more than a huge weed patch. NUMEROUS emails and phone calls have gone unanswered They did drop off 10 azelia plants but did not bother to plant them until I called multiple to tell them they were dying in their pots. It is three months now and my last communication that again went unanswered was a week ago. I am wiring this review so you won't make the same mistake. I wanted to give them ample time to fix the problems however they continue to not respond to my efforts to communicate with them so now I am going to hire another local company to come in fix this mess. My advice... DO NOT USE this company and share that information with anyone who might be considering building in the Wilmington area. read more

We recently moved into our newly built home in St. James Plantation. It was necessary for us to occupy the home before the landscaping began. Our builder has been working with Parker Landscaping for some time, and having witnessed the entire process from grading to planting, we are thoroughly pleased with the product that Parker Landscaping provided for us. Chris and the grading crew were very precise in determining the proper change in elevation needed for drainage purposes and made several adjustments during the process to assure that the grading would function properly. Robert Boyd was in constant communication with us, taking several trips to our home to make sure that the project was progressing and we were satisfied with the work, as he was scheduling our work around the inclement weather that plagued SE North Carolina this Summer and Fall. The Zoysia sod and plantings installed by Parker in November appear to be in very good condition and during the install Robert was very helpful in providing guidance as to the care of the various plantings. We have had a very good experience with Parker Landscaping and feel fortunate that they are part of our builders team. read more

I started working with Mr. Robert Boyd from Parker Group in April, 2018. I needed a complete tear out and redesign of my front yard due to the death of a 80 foot oak tree. I did read an earlier review after my first meeting with Mr. Boyd but it didn't sway me as I had already started the process and was impressed by his knowledge and had full confidence. I didn't know exactly what I wanted - I only knew I wanted to get rid of the 25 boxwoods that lined my house and the massive azaleas that were surrounding the tree and replace them with something "interesting". He drew a detailed landscaping plan that included the location and names of over 125 plantings which also included several trees. He selected foundation plants with different textures and colors and he personally searched for and handpicked the cherry trees which he included in the design. He gave me an estimate of 2-3 weeks before they could start on the project and that was delayed by about 10 days due to almost 3 weeks of rain we had this spring. I don't remember all the names of the crew but "Dexters Crew" did all the plantings, mulch and sod and they were amazing. Mr. Boyd was here off and on to oversee the project and on the day of the planting he personally placed each plant. I made sure to provide the guys with lots of water and food as it was almost 100 degrees the week of the installation. It has now been almost 4 weeks since the completion of the plantings and 95% of the sod is green and luscious, one small area died because of a problem we had with our existing irrigation and he replaced at no charge 3 plants that were not happy. The final phase of the project was selecting and planting 4 very large planters of which turned out amazing. He completely transformed my yard and it is now so interesting, inviting with tons of curb appeal. I wish there was a way to post before and after photos! The cost was reasonable and fair and I would not hesitate to use them again or refer them to others. read more
