These are fixed, not floating piers, but tides are minimal. The pier head where we stayed (dock E) and the adjacent fuel pier head can be exposed to wind and some waves if coming from the southeast, but the waves are knocked down a bit by flats. The docks are in good repair, and the grounds are immaculate. We took advantage of the free-access propane grills up on shore for a nice picnic. There's a West Marine just a short walk away. The marina has a pool, poolside bar, ice makers, laundry, and more. Their pump-out is also free. Docking here was slightly pricy, but well worth it at a location central to the Chesapeake between two 8-hour sails, and not at all out of line for the area and quality of facilities.

Herrington Harbour North Marina is a site to behold. This entire location is kept pristine. The…read moregrounds are well kept and the main building is immaculate. The restrooms are not only clean and well stocked, but they also have showers. Every inch of the docks are impeccable and every vessel, you could see, are well maintained. The reason for this visit was to assist with returning a family member's 47 foot sailboat back up to the Jersey shore. I cannot commend Herrington Harbour North enough on their professionalism and attention to detail with every aspect of this location. The customers of this harbour are privileged, well supported, and I'm certain....appreciative.

The weather was extremely hot, but the water was really calm so we mostly laid out. I did get motion sickness for about half of the trip so I would advise students to take Dramamine before the go. Our instructor Jeff was very knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all of our questions and had great tips and fun stories. Our day of sailing was fairly brief and he allowed us to do various task like steering the wheel, raising the sails, etc.. Its a good experience for beginners but might be a little boring for the advance.

Captain Mike, and now Captain Gary, have always been fantastic at keeping all passengers safe and happy. They are very knowledgeable about the bay, the lighthouses and history. Doing the tours and being on the water is my most favorite thing to do. Captain Gary is super kind and funny as well. My boyfriend and I hope to do one of his other tours soon. I highly recommend this Captain and his boat. I was blessed to be on the surprise wedding tour and posted a few pics. I would have to say it was one of the best tours ever.

It required paddling out to the bay, at the mercy of the 2-3 knot wind, The never-ending actions of switching the boom and jib, dodging and pulling were the most actions required. The monstrous motored boats sped by waving with arrogance and asking if we could go any slower? Amusements courtesy of motor boat tubing, It's a dog, no it's a monkey, no it's blonde ....? No it's a monkey! We really didn't care. Not a boat trip without some snacks of chessmen, goldfish and seedless grapes, some champagne, coronas and shiraz. Nice red wine stain on the boat, absorbed it like a sponge. Nothing beat the clear blue sky and full AT&T signal at sea. A Medical Doctor, an AIDS Researcher, a Mathematician and a For-Profit Scientist = great sailing crew!
